      Thats realistically not accurate as its genetics that play the major role, plenty of Afro-Caribbean and different people of colour/mixed never even use bone broth soup or collagen supplements, some strictly vegetarian and some age extraordinarily well
      Also a big factor is smoking drinking and excessive drug use and they wreck the body from within and you see the effects around 30-35 especially on the skin, so many people who ised to smoke 25-30 years ago who I still see today their skin started going very bad looking like a worn leather jacket

    Thanks for this: after looking at your types, it raises the question, is BSE/TSE a risk with collagen the way it is with gelatin (and a few other excipients) sourced from animals? At the very least, it may be another reason to use a reputable source. For my field, pharmaceutical regulation, despite the small amounts of gelatin used in meds, this is highly regulated; every source of gelatin requires certification re BSE/TSE.

    I suffer from severe rheumatoid arthritis and all my joints were swollen, burning and stiff. Increasingly difficult to do simple chores and walking. Getting out of the chair and walking up stairs was almost impossible. It’s exhausting. I start taking collagen supplements, pains are gone the very next day, no more burning and swollen. It’s a bonus if collagen can help to improve my hair and skin. My main concern is to get rid of inflammation. Now I can rebuild my strengths.

      That's really great to hear. I'd just like to temper the expectations that others might have from reading your results. RA can be very destructive to joints, and they might be beyond the point where collagen will help. Anyone who has RA should see a rheumatologist. We have medicines now that can prevent your joints from being destroyed, but you shouldn't wait too long. The earlier you treat RA, the more likely you will be to have a good outcome. Most arthritis is not RA. Most people have osteoarthritis, which tends to respond better to collagen.

    • @wfang11911
      @wfang11911 Před 8 měsíci +4

      Collagen is always good for hair, especially for thinning hair but this particular problem sounds like a water retention issue. Google low porosity hair ! When damaged, hair can not retain enough water. Argan oil or other oils won't help much alone. You need keratin products. There are hair conditionners and hair masks that target that. I used a conditionner from Acure with brasilian keratin and coconat water but they are not making it anymore and I didn't try the new ones. After 40-45 years could be a decrease in estrogen levels also or a tyroid problem but that's more rare. Usually the hair is just damaged by chlor, sun, haircolor products, etc.

    I assume that the amino acid profiles of the different types of collagen are about the same.
    If so, it would be less important to have all the different types in a supplement.
    After all, the amino acids in a hydrolyzed collagen supplement are just the building blocks for the body to make its own.
    And since there are 27 or so different types of collagen, we won't get them all.

    • @presence5426
      @presence5426 Před 7 měsíci

      Many of the "types" of collagen are only found in small quantities, and in specific places, in animal tissue. I haven't seen the AA profiles, but similarities among the types is a fair assumption. What's likely to be different are the short peptides absorbed from various collagen types.

    Collagen supplements are expensive and do not taste good. I do prepare my own bone broth either from beef bones or chicken feet.
    For the beef bone broth : I do rinse them , soak them for a couple of hours and then rinse again (until water is clear) then cook them in water with salt, bay leaf, black pepper, garlic and the skin and the juice of a lemon or a sour orange, in a pressure cooker for 75 min (stew). Then I do separate the broth from everything and let it cool, put it in the refrigerator and next day I do remove all the fat and make parts for the broth to cook soups, rice, etc.. For the chicken feet, I do rinse them with hot water, then do the same procedure as with the beef bone broth and use it for cooking.

      @@ysunsets I am not giving any advice , I am giving MY recipe about the bone broths. As for the free range beef/chicken status, here in MX there is not label/info about it (where I do live). However, the free range beef bone broth will have a yellow-ish fat while the other (grain fed) will have a white-ish fat. The yellow-ish fat I do use some part of it because for almost a 3 liters beef bone broth I get more than a pound of fat which is too much for me to use.
      "Remove" does not mean to throw away.

It sounds highly unusual to me that over consumption of collagen could result in an overload of oxalic acid being produced in the body endogenously. Do you have any source or reference you could give, which supports what you are saying? So by default, collagen can NEVER be vegan.. It is animal product by nature. So unfortunately there will be no legitimate COLLAGEN products for vegans.. With that said, there are proteins that will help BOOST NATURAL collagen production within the body.. The company Sunwarrior has an excellent vegan protein called "Collagen Builder". It is a vegan protein with higher amounts of certain amino acids that are good for collagen, along with biotin, hyaluronic acid, Tremella, and a few others.
