Michelin-starred chefs and others on the team will serve athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics more sustainable food options with a lower carbon footprint. Most of the ingredients will be locally sourced and based on plants. Chefs have experimented with various combinations to ensure athletes get enough energy and nutrients.

Vegetarian diet is just the label they used when they plan on selling vegetables at 10x its original price.

  • @battletroll1likesminecraft214

Sustainable, vegetarian food is fine. Force feeding a bunch of athletes nothing but it is not.

Seems like a cost cutting measure. Why not include both non-vegetarian and vegetarian options?

Apparently being a meat eater means you can't read past the title. If you bothered to, they said only 1/3 of the protein would be plant-based, and literally have shots of seafood and meat being prepared.

you know what tastes better than Michelin-quality vegetarian food? Michelin-quality food with meat. this is like someone telling me "hey, Leonardo Davinci is going to make a painting for you!" and you're like "wow that's great!" and then he says "but Davinci is only going to use his feet to paint it"
plus they are athletes about to compete with the best of the best in the entire world... do you really think they are going to eat vegetarian food the days before they compete? they are all going to go outside to eat just like the Shaolin monks who are warriors do. Even though the Buddhist teachings in the Shaolin temple encourage not eating meat, all those who focus on strength training eat meat. Meat eating is not equivalent to non-sustainable. You can grow animal products and you can grow vegetables in a non-sustainable way. Cows farting are not a danger to the environment...
And if your goal is really "to contribute to the performance of the athletes" then you give them high protein meals with meat because even though you can create a high protein meal with vegetables, there are different types of protein and not all protein is the same, and so you don't get enough of all the types of protein you need from vegetarian or vegan meals plus you have to eat a lot more and I don't think the athletes want to have their stomachs way fuller than they need to be before practice.
