I'm so glad y'all could come see how we do conventions and shows in my back yard. I grew up in the east end of Louisville, and now live about 28 miles south out in the country south of Louisville in Bullitt county KY. The area in the east end where I grew up was farm land when I was a kid, and now it is all shopping centers and high end housing suburbs for the upper middle class and upper class folks. Last time I drove through there I didn't even recognise much of anything other than our old house, the elementary school, and the first business that got built when I was in my junior year of high school. It's amazing how much an area can change in 34 years. I left for the Army in 1988 and now the farmer's fields are covered with businesses and housing developments that are mostly older than my kids. Thanks to young people like you two and your families, we still have farmer's out there feeding us.
So thank you for what y'all are doing. Here in the last couple of years they are putting warehouses and distribution centers closer and closer to our "new" home (over 200 year old L&N bunk house) that we bought 11 years ago, running more farmer's out of the area, for "progress". I can't afford to move again, so I hope and pray for you the progress leaves your family alone for generations to come.

    Ahhh, nostalgia!
Only ever attended one farm show as a teen. One of the local farmers hosted it. Yep it was open air no big buildings to house the exhibitors.
Always loved the equipment displays at the County Fair.
Don't expect to ever make it to either ever again. Heavy sigh...
Tractor pulls are great. At a small one they would put an appropriate weight tractor on the sled then as the sled came past we members of our FFA Chapter would jump onto the sled and grab hold of the vehicle on the sled to add weight the farther down the track the tractor pulling the sled would go.
In between pulls we relaxed on folding chairs set ìn two long rows down either side of the track. For the smaller tractors they used a 1/2 ton pickup as the initial weight. Getting on the sled as it passed by was a little harder as the pickup was close to the width of the sled so not much room for your feet on the edge of the sled and still stand upright, grab onto the sides of the bed, open window or the extended mirrors. Great fun but being a live weight on the sled at a tractor pull was tiring.

About 30 years ago when my son was little I took him to see monster trucks. He was a huge fan of them. It was Also indoors. I had never gone before but did one brilliant thing, I brought us ear plugs. I figured it would be loud and I avoided the gouging prices they charged for them at the event. It’s much more fun to watch when you’re not putting your fingers in your ears, or going deaf.

Welcome to Missouri. Some times, we will try to have all four seasons in a 24 hour period. Wednesday, it was in the low 60s. By 8, it started raining. Around 3 in the morning, it changed to a heavy sleet. And to finish it off, by 8, we were having a heavy snow fall with strong winds. By the end at my house, we had an inch of ice covered by 5 inches of snow. My two driveways exit on a hill. It takes the highway department on average 3 days to come. Cannot clear the road with a tractor (illegal), so I have to hand shovel to road and throw ice melt so we can get out if necessary.

Grant put grease in that seal before you install and it will help hold the spring and keep it in place and the grease will wash out in the next oil change. Laura it's spring cleaning time I pulled all there covers out from under my skid loaders this week and washed all the underside out first. So many farmers forget that part until they crack the oil pan.

Some people take roller blades to trade shows. We are getting pounded with a blizzard in So. Central Montana, on Sunday evening, you will probably get it by tomorrow the 21st.

You can take all this rain back with ya to Nebraska. We’re here in central Indiana about an hour and a half north of the show and we are flooding. Glad yal had fun. Didn’t know they had the show so early this year.
