    Holy crap. This video is a godsend. I just replaced the clutch in my 90 trooper 2 and was so worried after discovering all the vacuum lines and other BS the california car has. I will promptly be deleting it as well as all other unnecessary components of the engine. Thanks! I should add that it is worth it to me to do this as my trooper is 141000 miles and I am the second owner. I am very much interested in keeping it.

    I’m always looking at making life simpler with my Amigo 2.6 and always looking to make it a bit simpler than they designed it.
    I agree, there design in upper coolant system is a bit much and their placement of intake sensors were ill conceived.
    Thanks for the video.

    I am a new trooper owner so forgive me if I'm relaying something that was discovered years ago. I thing the igniter that you mention as not being documented is listed as a Power Transistor on page 03-48 Emission Control and shown as a Ignition Power Switch on page 01-75 in the 1988 Trooper II (KB84) manual.

    Johnny5
    You seem like a very knowledgeful fella.
    I own a 1992 isuzu rodeo 2.6L 2wd with mua5 5 speed. Basically the base model.
    I am not sure how many miles are on this isu. I bought it with 273818. But i think they switched the old 4ze1 with a junkyard one.
    Anyways it does not use oil, i had head gasket replaced, valves and springs and guides, timing belt, water pump, fuel pump, spark plugs, spark plug wires cap and rotor and timing checked.
    It seems to have plenty of power up untill 4th gear. On the highway it has a hell of a time keeping up at 70mph on 5th gear. It does not matter if the gas pedal is all the way pushed. It just does not have power.
    What do you suggest i can do to improve my isu highway performance. I want to be able to pass cars easier?
    Or are these 2.6 just plain gutless?

    • @Johnny5troopers
      @Johnny5troopers  Před 6 lety

      That's gonna be really hard to answer without being there. The engine could be low on compression, you could be running too large of a tire, clogged catalytic converter, any number of issues.

    • @mr.mg428mm2
      @mr.mg428mm2 Před 6 lety

      I have 30 inch tires on it at the moment.
      I am thinking about ditching the fuel injection for a carburetor setup.
      About the exhaust pipe. What would be the biggest size we can run these 2.6 on?
      2 inch 2 1/4? Or 2 1/2 inch.
      I want to remove the catalytic converter. I will redo the exhaust.
      Any imput is greatly appreciated. Thank you

    • @Johnny5troopers
      @Johnny5troopers  Před 6 lety

      2 1/4 is a good size exhaust for the 2.6 30 inch tires could be part of the problem, they're heavier than the stock 235/15s and the rolling circumference is probably a little large for the higher gear ratio of the rodeo. Sounds like it's just a culmination of tired motor and too much load.

    • @mr.mg428mm2
      @mr.mg428mm2 Před 6 lety
