Oh thanks John for the video! I've run the 2.8 in my 89 Trooper for 14 years. Daily driver. Finally found a rust free beaut 2 months ago. It's a 2.6. Turns out cylinder head has a crack. It sat for 13 years. Been a subscriber for a while now and I just want to thank you for your knowledge.

Thank you so much!! You have no idea how much this helped me. I've been looking for the ignition module all over the place! Your vary right, nobody has any pictures or diagrams of it. But after watching only 2 of your videos I Found out where it is and you also confirmed that it is a main cause of no spark. Also, your vary right about this whole system being flawed in the non accessibility part of it. The Japanese were way ahead of themselves. So thanks again you saved me a lot of work!

The TPS on the manual is just two position switch that only detects idle and wide open throttle. The automatic uses a proper TPS that senses the actual throttle position.

Yes thank you, goodness you safe me, been having transmission issues. What sucks is that I had just put a used fuel injection wiring harness that did not have the plug for the trans to sift. Plus before the tps didn't have the extra plug in . So I never knew that was for that. I have manually shifted this thing from day one when I bought it plus it never goes into over drive. Thank you a gain. Sheesh! LOL

I have a 93 pick up and it takes a bit to start at cold start. Crank and cranks and eventually it will start. My theory is i think it might be engine temperature sensor since i had the same problem on a 95 civic. What do you think?

very interesting to see how their done over in the U.S. in Australia we don't have any of that smog system. i do have one question. my engine idles at a little over 1k rpm, if i adjust it down, after about the third start it just comes back up? is that the computer or a vacuum leak? (i went through the vacuum system with all new lines when i did the head gasket last.)

You're welcome Rob, sorry it was so long in coming, not the kind of thing you can just "whip out", requires quite a bit of time and work. I've known for a long time it needed to be done though.

I've been looking at that lower section thinking the same thing you are. I just picked up an Isuzu factory race motor that is going to need something like that in order to make it run, so that's a very realistic possibility in the future. If you look at my facebook page today there is a new album with the pictures of the motor.

This is kind of a weird design. It has the heat operated vacuum switches despite being computerized.
When I see an early computerized engine, nearly all of those heat operated vacuum switches are replaced with electrically operated switches.
Failures of the heat operated vacuum switches are one reason carb engines with smog devices from the 1970s and 1980s were often unreliable.
19:15 this is one reason that 10% ethanol fuel sucks.

@Johnny5ive 1990 trooper 2.6l need the valve that sits on top of the thermostat housing. Or if you know where to find one that would be super helpful. Otherwise I'll do the 5 tec modification.
