Tried tip 3 with my iPhone torch and I can indeed see the image on the tv so it confirmed the backlight was faulty thank you.

Ahhhhh you are a star!!!!! .......remove the batteries from the remote and pressing Philips TV power button for 30 secs resolved my issue ......weird, the only thing I didn't do previously was to remove the batteries from the remote.

For mine the remote wouldn’t turn it on, and it didn’t seem to have any external buttons. But then I found them inside the connections bay, and just pushing and holding the power button turned it on. Great way to design a TV Phillips!

Listen. Simple solution. Fully Unplug the power cable from the TV. Plug it back very Well so that it's not loose at all. Then plug the wire in the wall. And voilà !
