Sorcerer is actually easy to cheese if you have the skills to 4x reflective veil your entire party, which can be done in a single turn.

Runelord is by far the simplest Advanced Class to decide what to do with, considering literally only Tressa and Olberic can benefit from it as they are the only party members with self targeting abilities.

My thoughts on characters and how they pair with specific classes. (Advanced only, this is a wall of text. Sorry xD)
    Primrose - Starseer or Sorcerer
Starseer- adds to her as a support while ALSO adding to her as a Mage. it's a fun combo and adds way more to her utility
Sorcerer- turns Prim into arguably the better Mage. Prim's Elem Attack can rival Cyrus's own. And this let's her cover every element.
Therion -Warmaster. - I love using Therion, i just feel he falls short with any other advanced class. But I also think this turns him into one of the best physical attackers. (Personal opinions, yay!)
It takes advantage of his high speed and critical. And brings him up to par with other phys attackers.
    Cyrus - Starseer or Sorcerer
Starseer - fixes Scholar's problem, elemental access. Giving him strong access to Wind, Light and Dark. While also adding utility to him. Something he completely lacks. This also doesn't render his core job obsolete.
Sorcerer - This is obviously a good class for the games primary mage. But it renders his core job useless. THat's not ENTIRELY a bad thing, as this is extremely powerful all on it's own however.
    H'aanit - Warmaster or Runelord
Warmaster - This was stated in the video, but this is one of those jobs basically made for her.
Runelord - While it's true she cannot take advantage of Transfer Rune in her personal kit, she also doesn't really need to. Runelord works great all on it's own. Adding to the fact a lot of good bows have Elem Attack attached, H'aanit can make good use of the rune's themselves to add to her attacks.
    Alfyn - Runelord
As stated above, Runelord works great all on it's own, but Alfyn can use this pretty much AS a stand alone, relying on Saving Grace to overheal your party, giving you plenty of free time to boost out Rune's onto your party. Making him amazing in pure physical teams.
Olberic - Warmaster or Runelord - Personally i like him better with generic classes.
Both of these are basically a rehash of H'aanit. though i feel he's not as good with Runelord since Magic Swords and Axes tend not to be as good as Hybrid and Magic bows. Though there are some damn good Magic Spears.
    Ophilia - Starseer, Sorcerer, Runelord
Starseer - This one is obvious, it's a support caster for a support caster.
Sorcerer - This one is similar to Prim, it turns her into a beastly elemental mage, more so if Cyrus has Starseer.. as they work together and cover eachother perfectly.
Runelord - This continues to fall into the trend of Alfyn's. She can rely on saving Grace to overheal, giving her free time to constantly pump out elemental runes into your party. Though she's probably better at this role since her heals are AoE, which means she can turn one overheal the entire party. - This is arguably one of my favorites.
Tressa - Literally all of them - Despite how good she is with ALL of these, i personally dislike using her.
Runelord - This is obvious with AoE side-stepping.
Starseer - Turns her into a solid support and Mage.
Sorcerer - Turns her into a strong Mage.
Warmaster - Turns her into a strong Physical.
tressa is a broken Runelord to be sure, and all of these make her good at any role. While not as good at them as others. Tressa is the true Jack of All Trades, and if your not like me and just don''t like using her. She can literally find a place in ANY party.

I just use transfer rune on my cyrus-sorcerer who also has the warrior skill to increase max damage and then use elemental break. It both lowers the enemies elemental resistance and then deals the damage of the elemental rune. Usually i deal 18k damage on an enemy with his guard up and up to 120k when fully buffed, way more than with the other sorcerer abilities. The rune-damage also seems to benefit from the sorcerer's elemental aid without increasing the abilities cost. Combined with sp-saver and second wind and cyrus regenerates more sp than he spends on elemental break.

  • @wintershiny4888
    @wintershiny4888 Před 5 lety +19

Sorcerer is so damn easy, I didn't even use that reflective veil strategy. Literally all you have to do is keep up a leghold trap and break him. He can hardly do anything to you. Nightmare seems like the throw power in final fantasy. Namely instead of selling weapons you can find the most cost effective one to throw and do major damage.
This works for me especially since by the time I did all these my money only went to hired help which since tressa is a runelord I didn’t use once I got that class either so I just have a surplus of money now and because of that no longer sell the weapons Theron steals or I find exploring that isn’t any good.
So why not make use of them if I soft have a max boost

I think Cyrus Sorceror is redundant tbh...Primrose can use the Soul Knife to get more elemental attack so she is actually the top elemental damage in the game. Having Cyrus as a Starseer and Primrose as a Sorccer would be your best bet for bosses because Primrose can use her Dancer Divine on Cyrus to make his buffs AOE while Cyrus can use his Schoolar Divine to make Primroses spells hit a lot harder.
My two favorite Runelords are Tressa and Olbric. Tressa is more utility based, giving her sidestep and rest to everyone in the party and she has pretty equal elemtal and physical attack. Olbric is your agressive choice since he can buff physical attack and defense to everyone and his Level Slash is a nice AOE physical and now elemental attack.
There's a lot of options in this game really...

  • @LokiLiesGod
    @LokiLiesGod Před 4 lety +1

Therion and Prim are the best Travelers to make a Sorcerer. Both have very high speed, meaning increasing the chances to break enemies defenses as soon as possible, and both of them can equip Heathcote's Dagger and Primeval Bow of Storms, as well as one of the elemental staves. That means 3 elements with passive damage increase. Therion is even able to equip Herald's Sword on top of that, to deal stupid amounts of Fire Damage.
Cyrus as a Starseer is actually super good, giving him access to three elements he doesn't have with Shooting Star, as well as allowing him to equip Rune Glaive or Tradewinds Spear, both great weapons for spell casters. Cyrus is a bad Sorcerer, since he misses out on a bunch of great elemental weapons and the Sorcerer class makes his base class completely useless. He also has super low speed, meaning you will struggle to actually use the three hit spells to properly break enemies before they can hit you.
Ophilia is also a great choice for the Starrseer, since she can work as a dedicated support with some damage potential with the right weapons.
Tressa is broken with any of the advanced classes, but giving her Runelord is a no brainer. Transfer Side-step makes the Warlord boss fight a joke, for example. Transfer Rest is also super good for exp grinding if you are lacking SP items (you shouldn't be, but you never know).
Warmaster is awesome on Olberic for Challenge Fights, and either him or H'annit will have great use for this class for the final boss.
I actually leave Alfyn as either a Dancer or a Merchant most of the time. It's not like he needs any subclass anyways!

sorc really only should be used on characters who can double boost elements via weapons. ie therion (probably the best one, but has a lack of sp) tressa (tied with therion but best left as runelord) olberic (is fine, if you willing to shore up his lackluster elem attack with nuts, although this means taking away tressa's double boost) alfyn (once again is fine, although it isnt reccomended as he should almost always be spamming concoct, so putting him on something supportive like thief or hunter typically makes more sense) h'aanit (same deal as olberic, though you wont be taking away someone elses double boost)

    Tressa - Runelord
    H’aanit - Warmaster
    Ophelia - Sorcerer
    Alfyn - Starseer
I might have been a little biased since my main/starting team was Therion, then H’aanit, then Ophelia, then finally Alfyn. I had Therion as a hunter before changing him to a warrior. Stealing and donating SP was a huge help when the others started running out, plus the ability to donate above their SP cap.

in octopath order, here is my advanced job pick for everyone (at the end I'll say who I'd actually put them on)
Ophilia: starseer, sorcerer. starseer increases her magical abilities slightly and makes her a better support. sorcerer makes her a good mage+secondary healer.
Cyrus: sorcerer. it the only one that works for him, but is kinda overlapping like you said.
Tressa: runelord, for the same reason you said. sorcerer for 60% wind boost with a possible 30% on ice.
Olberic: warmaster, physical attack heavy already.
Primrose: starseer, sorcerer. same reason as ophilia
Alfyn: runelord, starseer. starseer helps support, runelord let's him provide runes when he's not healing.
Therion: sorcerer all the way. 60% fire boost ignis ardere, with a possible 30% on wind and ice, another debuff, and a great way for him to attack? yes! he can use steal SP and SP saver to keep his SP topped off, with elemental edge surpassing power and bp eater to boost damage.
Hannit: warmaster. bcomes a physical attack god, especially with high crit and take aim almost guaranteeing crits.
my sorcerer pick: therion. he and tressa are about the same as sorcerer, but she's needed as runelord. he also has an extra boosted element with three instead of 2.
my starseer pick: nobody! the supports are some of the best in the game, but shooting stars is horrible at Breaking and the skills are outdone by other classes' skills (take aim, donate bp, heal more).
runelord: tressa. sidestep and rest on top of the runes can let her heal everyone's hp and sp, prevent damage, and give powerful runes!
warmaster: hannit, since take aim+high crit+high patk lets her become a beast. she also has a much better divine since draefendis is just an aebers without speed scaling.
I definitely think Cyrus is better as an apothecary, since using last stand with 60% boosted ice rune from tressa makes him incredibly powerful.
olberic can be a hunter or a thief. aebers is better than draefendis as well, so it's a better AOE divine.
ophilia can be your dancer when not in a party with primrose. if with her than she's kinda useless since dancer is being covered and scholar and apoc are taken.
primrose is a great scholar, since her elemental atk makes her a decent secondary mage for breaks. she can also provide alephans to therion for single target bosses, increasing his damage to 40k a HIT at level 60 combined with elemental break. (he has native elem atk up from supports, remember?)
alfyn can be a cleric for aelfrics on therion (my usual teams are OCTO and PATH) or a hunter as a decent secondary physical attacker.

  • @Kuulpb
    @Kuulpb Před 5 lety

I think I did it in this order with this team:
    Alfyn(cleric), Therion(merchant), Primrose(scholar) H'aanit(dancer)
    Sorcerer 1st (Made primrose sorcerer)
    Starseer 2nd (Made H'aanit Starseer)
    Warmaster 3rd (Made H'aanit warmaster)
Runelord 4th (Made Alfyn, my protag, Runelord)
And then I beat Alfyn's Chapter 4 boss with Runelord Balogar's Blade each hit dealing 7k, it was amazing -
Edit; i would have said Cyrus/Starseer would be amazing BECAUSE of the scholar's Divine skill - AoE Spells that hit enemies target one instead fo rmore potency, think makes Shooting stars ( and idk if it affects Steorra's prophecy) which plays well with him having th other 3 elements already, it also gives him access to starsong which increases both defences and evasion, of a target, which he can use on himself, or even use the BP boost spell on himself then next turn use a 3 boost spell, Yes it's not as potent as full sorcerer etc, but he is then "Self Sufficient" as he can boost himself, Deal any element damage, Reflect physical damage (if you don't use tressa, like I don't), buff allies/heal in turns you need it when an enemy is taking reduced damage, etc. This also frees up Sorcerer for primrose/ophilia who both have the tied 2nd highest Elemental Attack, and Cyrus has the 2nd highest elemental defence, so he CAN be a Potent healer, so if you want to make hima cleric overstarseer you can, but with that elemental defence, he can also take an elemental hit better, hence the physical reflection.

Therion my dude for quick farming alongside with Teresa Donate BP he can use Divine Skill at Second turn ( or First turn if Teresa quicker than Therion ) The Fact Therion DS got additional bonus damage from Speed makes it easy to pump damage , with Viper Dagger My Therion deal around 17 K Critical Non-Break damage , more than enough wipe-out Lv. 45 ~ 50 Mobs.
I hate using Teresa Runelord because Rune break the game easily, My Ophilia deal around 33 K Critical from Staff normal attack imbued with Rune Element.

Runelord is honestly best on Tressa and Olberic.
Tressa can use Rest to heal everyone’s HP to a medium amount, and, depending on the boost, everyone’s SP.
You allow all party members to COMPLETELY ignore physical attacks, and recover SP easily without using items.
Olberic on the other hand, has 3 self buffs.
Incite: Make the entire party “more ready” to take hits, which I believe makes them miss more often, that or take less damage.
Stout wall) which increases everyone’s defense.
    Abide: increase everyone’s physical attack.
I think Olberic is more focused around everyone taking hits, but taking far less damage, and doing lots of physical damage,
While Tressa is about completely ignoring physical damage, invincibility really, (you still get hit by elemental moves) and constantly healing the parties HP and MP easily.
Both are wonderful, and have their own pros and cons.
It all depends on the fight.
Post game builds make fighting normal enemies take one turn, at least that’s my experience. My Cyrus will always clear out every enemy in one move with Sorcerer as his advanced job class,
So using the Runelord really only applies to bosses, which there are almost none of in post game.
Tressa is BROKEN when fighting the war master, as the war master boss only uses physical attacks. You can beat her with only getting hit once or twice at the start of the fight.
The runelords moves are exceptionally powerful when applying runes to the party, especially if you have high elemental Attack.
I’ll use a rune in the party, and suddenly Cyrus’ 96 Damage staff attack does a second hit of 40k.
Here is an amazing video made by OhRichard that goes over the insane possibilities of Tressa’s runelord potential, including the 70k plus damage her runes can do.
    czcams.com/video/KRuYdLiZqkc/video.html
    It’s game breaking.

Adam Hawks Incite is a taunt, meaning that while it is active, enemies can only attack targets with the incite status (unless they use AoE). Reaaally good on Olberic and Warrior Therion, for obvious reasons, but does absolutely nothing if you give the status to your whole team

    • @bradley9037
      @bradley9037 Před 5 lety

Adam Hawks Something I forgot to mention: Tressa actually has something that's just better than Transfer Rune + Stout wall. She has the Mercenary from Hired Help, which, in one turn instead of two used to set up a transfered Stout Wall, does a (weak) sword hit to all enemies for breaking purposes, and applies a defense buff to your whole party. So yeah, the only thing Olberic does that Tressa doesn't is Abide, so just use Tressa cx

Wishful Thinking Channel I use hired help pretty frequently as a cheap way to break opponents.
It saves on SP if you're running low, and besides the fact you probably make more than you spend just by fighting enemies, it gives you that much more weapon variety. Atm Tressa as a scholar can hit any weakness effectively but darkness.
Same goes for Nightmare Chimera, especially since NPCs can drop weapons on rare occassions, giving you free access to weapons to break as well.

Honestly what it comes down to in the end for me IS the final boss, and since (SPOILERS) he has an attack that’s gets rid of your party’s status buffs, you want to quickly within a turn or two, have your party set up for dealing massive damage, so it went Obleric - Warmaster, Tressa - runelord, Ophelia - starseer, & Cyrus - sorcerer. At first I had Olberic as runelord, because it seems smart since he has all those self buffs, but when I takes forever to apply them, and the final boss can wipe them in 1 turn it’s not worth it. And because of his freakish almost 90K damage in 1 turn, I can’t pass on that. Besides, since I don’t have alfyn in the party with Tressa, she can use her transfer rune + rest to get rid of any status ailments that the party gets, and need I even say how amazing transfer rune + side step can be?? That way I also don’t have to waste a support skill on stat swap since Tressa has good elemental damage. As for Cyrus I mean come on... “wasting” 6 skills is obsolete, since you need your strongest hitting skills for the final boss. And stacking an elemental augmenter, (and passive elemental buffs), after a break, using elemental break, scholar divine, and cleric divine, you’ll easily be dealing 120K per turn, some insane numbers that’ll one shot almost any regular enemy. However if you felt like having your sorcerer and runelord in the seamen party, it works pretty well landing an elemental break followed by a nearly 30K elemental damage. As for starseer, it’s only going to go to Primrose or Ophelia, it would be nice to go to either for different reasons. Using dancer divine + moons reflection can give the whole party immunity to physical damage, however, I felt it was a better choice for Ophelia that was I could keep Primrose as a Cleric secondary for her to have some quick healing abilities, because the starseers regenerative healing won’t cut it later on, when the last boss can do 2-7K damage in one turn. aaaaaaaand that’s my thoughts about that.

  • @relmraybrant7802

    Unpopular setup :
Ophelia as runemaster: does around 40k damage when using elemental augmentations and does around 10k per hit on the ultimate ability runelords has.
Olberic i made a warmonger, due to the ease of integration, as he would also typically hit the damage cap with nightmare chimera pretty easilly, not to mention he hit around 30-40k with the ultimate per attack..
Tressa: starseeker, it augments her bp abilities and frees her up to be totally supportive, also when everyone has full bp she can use the ultimate hitting around the cap for damage.
Therion sorcerer, now this is really unpopular because he doesn't have a very high attack with the sorcerer, however i mainly used him for breaking the enemies, having alferics on him and having him double up weaknesses can easily break a bunch of enemies, then I'd have the rest clean up. I also wanted to keep him in ther party because of his ability to steal and open purple chests.
Hann- i made her a merchant class for doubling up bp with tressa if i needed to, she made for a great tank and when she isn't supporting like therion she's breaking with arrow storm.
Alf- i honestly used hunter with him to make it easier to use leg hold trap and arrow storm when he isn't healing, in conglomeration with the ability saving Grace with his concoct ability it seems a moot point to have him or ophelia healing every turn.
Prim- cleric, now i found in some battles ophelia benefits from having a backup cleric, especially when looking to level, having two dancers and having both prim and ophelia use alpherics then pump prim up with alf or tressa or items for bewildering grace honesty was a great option..pairing her with ophelia for battles made them easy.. almost too easy when she had rune lords equipped..
Cyrus- honestly most of the game i had him be a dancer for improved odds of getting 100x exp with prim, but when i actually used him seriously i used the apocathery class, he makes a tremendous healer and tends to work in tandem with alf if they are in the same party, or if he's helping prim as a cleric against the final boss.. while ulberic is using nightmare chimera and tressa is using steorras.. either way he seemed to make for a better support character than anything to me, he is very good at healing.. and breaking.
I have a lot of unpopular class choices but they honestly seem to work pretty well for me. And no. Nightmare chimera is SO useful. But I've been playing final fantasy since the mid 90s so I have their ideology down at this point.

Saying the healing skills are obsoleted w/ Vim and Vigor and Ethereal Healing I think is a pretty incorrect statement.
    1. Using your time to grant everyone Vim and Vigor I think is a waste of time since there are much better skills you can grant your entire party
    2. There are times where the enemy is about to attack for lethal right after your support character takes their turn and being able to heal at a critical moment is important.

  • @EntropicUsername
    @EntropicUsername Před 5 lety +24

I think you severely underrate Cyrus as a Starseer, and overrate him as a Sorcerer.
Making him a Sorcerer is redundant, rendering the entire Scholar class obsolete, other than Analyze, so your only benefit is modest stat gains over Primrose or Ophelia, who have the benefit of an entire support class to compliment the Sorcerer's pure damage. There's little significant reason to ever make Cyrus a Sorcerer.
In contrast, if you turn Cyrus into a Starseer, the class's one offensive spell deals damage from the three types he does not already cover, letting him effectively attack every element, and he becomes a much more flexible and useful unit, with strong offense and utility, particularly while standing next to an Ophelia or Primrose Sorcerer.
Not attacking with Cyrus isn't really any more wasteful than not attacking with Ophelia, and folks do that all the time. The difference between them is not very big.

If he's not attacking, he's not doing his job. So in this case, Sorcerer is a perfect fit as it just further enhances his offensive capabilities. Whoa what, Runeblade is not the easiest imo. I beat Warmaster and Sorcerer at 51-54, I'm 58 now and Runeblade has wiped me multiple times

What’s your setup like? Level hardly matters, I beat runeblade with no advanced classes at level 56

Wishful Thinking Channel Cleric Alfyn, Thief Tressa, Sorcerer Primrose and Warmaster Olberic. I ended up giving everyone resist ailments on my last attempt and it made a huge difference, just beat him. It was those AoE stunlocks that were getting me.

what really? lmao I beat it on my second try without having an advanced class (obviously). The boss I've struggled with the most was Alfyns chapter 3 boss, the recommended level was 32 and all of my party members were 40+, he still beat my butt so hard lol im still having flashbacks and nightmares every now and then

    • @WishfulGamer

Edplosion lol, Starseer was originally the first one I started with, and I DESPERATELY tried to beat it after countless failed attempts while pulling an all-nighter the other night so I could start writing this video. AND STILL DIDN’T WIN. I was so irritated lol. So I ended up trying each boss until I got close to beating one, and decided to keep trying at the the Runelord. Got him in two tries.

    Ophiia - Sorcerer
    Therion - Starseer
Alphyn - Hunter (Hello, legholder! Plus, he now has crit. Come on.)
Tressa - Dancer (Starseers BP boost to all allies? Offensive buffs? Please and thank you.)
I honestly find neither runeblade nor warmaster all that good. And yeah, sure, being able to dodge a phys attack at guarantee is nice and all... but, really, it's not like I'm not gonna have every enemy broken and dead before turn 2 - and bosses will be trapped and broken far too often for this to matter.
Warmaster is just... useless to me. The VERY few enemies that don't have element weaknesses will still break rather fast as the party still has all 6 weapon types.
