I got this, Octopath Traveler II and other Switch games for my birthday and it's the best one of them I've played so far. I just started on H'aanit's first chapter this morning and she's backed up by the other female characters since I started with Primrose. They feel like a good party especially since I found the shrines for the Scholar and Hunter classes to boost Primrose and Ophilia's abilities respectively.

I had the Q2 and gave it away. If you think you will ever play games like MSFS2020 or HLA on an Android headset don't bother and waste your money. USB or Wi-Fi connections don't help either. Why don't they just add a damn HDMI connection and make everybody happy? I know Zuck bought Oculus, but it's freakin' Oculus!!! The name that introduced us to PCVR! It deserves better. EDIT: From what I see, any association with the Oculus name is dropped. Way to go Zuck!

Psvr head tracking is 360, just the controls that arent really, so that ocean descent game that was shown is actually 360.

could i get a 7ft long link cable and be able to still play vr or do i need it longer? idk if height does anythinig to but im 6ft

Well i believe Sony usually plays catch-up to Nintendo because without Nintendo, Sony itself wouldn't EVEN BE in the gaming market! Because of Nintendo going with Phillips after dropping the ball with Sony and the Nintendo PlayStation that was to be a CD Addon for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System/Super Famicom! But even Phillips was let go after Nintendo was basically done with the idea of a CD addon! It was really crazy how short sighted Nintendo was, even IF they do something innovative, there's always a misstep on Nintendo's part once in a while!

A history lesson, what about the title?

Technically the PSP did remote play back in 2007 for a select number of PS3 games, and the PS Vita did full-on PS3 remote play, back in 2011/12, months before the Wii U was even released. Edit: Also, I think Sega kind of gave other companies the idea, thanks to the VMU, which was a second screen experience that you could view from your gamepad. One neat little feature of Virtua Tennis on Dreamcast (that not many people know about) was the ability to play a crude stick figure rendition of the same game that's happening on screen. Back in the day, I would actually sometimes swap to another channel and continue playing the same tennis game by looking down at the VMU and controlling it with the Dreamcast controller. It was kinda like a very crude and limited precursor to the Wii U experience. When you look back at their devices and patents, Sega was sometimes more ahead of the innovation curve than Nintendo. Nintendo definitely refined and brought a lot of things to market and made them more mainstream, though. That goes for the design of the Switch and it's detachable Joy-Cons (Nintendo didn't invent the idea of Joy-Cons), but that's a topic for another story.

I wish the Quest 3 had 4k per eye micro OLED's, or at least a pro model version of the Quest 3 that does. The LCD panels without local dimming look awful in dark scenes, and the resolution only being 30% higher is not a significant jump in quality for those of us who use it for desktop and PCVR that can push out 4k per eye.

Quest 3 is a win just for the better lenses and smaller form factor. If games have a slightly better resolution, draw distance, lighting etc, that's a bonus. Basically if all quest 3 games have the same quality as red matter 2 on quest 2... that would be amazing.

I doubt that Quest3 will be a big jump in power. The Snapdragon XR2 Gen2 just has "50% higher sustained power and 30% improved thermal performance". Whatever that exactly means, it does not sound like much improvement. Mobile VR sucks. I want a wired PCVR headset with pancake lenses and eye tracking for below $500. PICO...?

I doubt it would be possible but half life alyx standalone would be fun

I mean quest 3 and future quest releases will never be able to get anywhere near pcvr graphically, but i do agree with each new quest it becomes closer to being a common platform to port your games to, like consoles are to pc gaming

I'm more worried about PCVR titles being held back due to development targeting the Quest platform. Unless PCVR just dies entirely, or standalone VR switches from mobile to laptop based configurations (potentially replacing laptops if Apple's Vision Pro is a trend setter), standalone is never going to catch up. I still mostly use my Quest 2 for PCVR (and usually Steam) because it's just graphically way better. PCVR also has much larger games (in both scope and disk space). Yet the titles are also cheaper (there's more sales and bigger discounts). Even though I sacrifice the Quest 2's hand tracking and pass through mixed reality. I've only bought a handful of Quest titles. Usually where the graphical difference was minor, the Quest version offered something extra (like passthrough for Demeo) and the price wasn't hugely inflated compared to Steam. I think I've gifted almost as many titles as I've bought for myself on the Quest platform. I'd be interested in knowing the Quest game store sales figures, because I suspect they are lagging despite the Quest 2's popularity as a headset (in respect to PCVR and PSVR/PSVR2, not compared to PC or Console gaming in general). Colour pass through with compelling mixed reality games/apps could certainly help with Quest game sales, as would requiring all the titles with a PC version to be Cross-Buy.

It's been patented all year and the latest Nintendo VR patent came out 17th August 2023 which says it will be a wireless VR/AR headset with its own storage and processor and they also patented a Tennis game and Nintendog in AR in which you use your phone to drop pets in the person who where's the headsets environment and Nintendo has been dropping patents for VR all year 😂and the headset can stream games to anther headset or even a mobile phone etc

When Nintendo takes vr seriously they won’t try it. They will own it. It’s obvious that the headset will come out around the 2nd year of switch 2 w/ oled. It will be Mario kart vr. You’re welcome.
