Vigor before intellect
Strenght before dextery
Bonk before destination
Bonk is destination
No, no vigor, only bonk. Vigor useless
That's jump before bonk
Bonk before everything but marriage
Endurance before vigor
Strength before Intelligence
Bonk before range
I will bonk those who cannot bonk themselves.
I will bonk even those that use ranged weapons.
I do not accept that there will be those I cannot bonk.
I am the Bonk.
Lol, I love the lore for his low vigor is "I'm immortal, I'll just come back and learn to dodge in order to bonk." The ultimate chill mindset.
His character is almost a Herald stuck in Braize xD
@@OneMediocreGamer This is prime Taln.
Vigor means shit in this game. Doubling your health bar may help you take an extra hit. You're basically Mario pre N64.
@@thereccher8746 One or two extra hits is a huge deal.
@@thereccher8746 two hit instead of one is insane, it's basically like multiplying your lifespan by ten because now you can *heal*
Bonk before magic
Kaladin is about to die. He speaks the words of the fifth ideal. "Bonk before magic". Suddenly Syl manifests as two giant ass swords. He loses the ability to fly but gets instantly giga strong and easily dispatches his foe.
@@RobinClower hahahahahahha lololololololol
"You have been baptized. Go fourth and bonk." This is now added to by gaming vocabulary. I am more of a single bonk wielder myself, but another practitioner of the faith is always a joy to find.
One must have FAITH in the STRENGTH of their bonk.
He takes down the Dancing Lion at Level 80, Scadu-level: (1), wearing a Soreseal (reduces his defenses) and no Gauntlets.
This man uses his Physic to maintain his Runes despite refusing to use them, effectively playing a game within the game at all times.
People are complaining about the difficulty of the DLC and Brando is out here dishing out "Nah, I'd bonk" without a care in the world.
Judging by the things he says Brando Sando is a proper Fromsoft Vet, including the old school mentality.
While writing Secret Project 42 with his feet?
He double summoned LOL
That's just par for the course as fromsoftware is getting mainstream. There would be a lot more complaining if it wasn't difficult.
Soreseal's defensive benefits tend to outweigh the extra damage they take. There's a reason people wear them lol. It's not a challenge run
I can't stop imagining an Elden Ring book written by Brandon Sanderson
TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY
He’s very interested in writing the story for the next fromsoft game. He’s mentioned it a few times.
“He knows they have been well and truly baptized when they have stopped moving” god this guy is amazing
I keep coming back to this channel. I dont really read books and never his, but i think its so cool that this guy is at the top of his craft and is just also a youtuber. Ive heard he is also a book writingmachine so idk where he finds the time but i appreciate him still making videos because he likes all the things i do!
Happy to have you! If you ever change your mind about reading try Mistborn! You can also get them as an audio book and just listen on your travels.
He has a pretty set schedule, and he just finished a massive book so he has a little time to unwind before hopping into the next major project.
Mistborn is a really good entry level sort of book, it almost reads like an RPG at times (for better or worse)
I kind of find it funny that Brandon Sanderson, a man responsible for creating some of the most beloved magic systems put into literature, unapologeticalluy uses a strength build who uses zero magic.
probably to break the pattern. Also, he might have other pc's
5:13 Gaol is indeed Jail so far as I know
Yep, they’re pronounced exactly the same.
yup, same in Dragons Dogma. Old English for Jail.
@@MrWazzietje not old English, early modern and variant spelling in modern British English, it comes from the Middle English ‘gaiole, jaiole, jaile’ which came from Old North French ‘gaiole’, Old French ‘jaiole’, though that’s just jail in general regardless of spelling.
@@amelianyoom9545 I learned something new, thanks !
Journey before destination
strength before weakness
@@LurcherrMusic strength before vigor
Pancakes
Life before death
The Abyssal Woods leading up to Midra was absolutely terrifying, this DLC is better than any standalone game released this year
I can’t wait for the discussion of if this should be eligible for goty when it is by far the best videogame release of the year and will probably stay that way. People gonna be mad either way 😂
@@SleeplessSpecterit is
The thumbnail is the money shot, I didn't know I needed but now I want more of it😊
Ther was mention of a "hitting Brandon in armor" project, it will be coming soon I think
@@csernobillahun 😂 Can't wait!
This is awesome! I love Brandon’s attitude and lack of anger issues when playing a Soul’s game! Amazing!
I'll be VERY surprised if Brandon beats the final boss first try 😆
Final boss is the living saint archpriest of the Church of Bonk.
same since this isnt even supposed to be a boss but a mini-sorta elite enemy
Brandon’s love for From Software has convinced me to start reading Mistborn
Highly worth the read. In particular his magic systems and worldbuilding is top notch and original. But really he's just a damn good writer and storyteller.
Just do be aware, if you do audiobooks, they are a mixed bag.
The Mistborne audiobooks were great...but Stormlight Archive audiobooks are....fine. the narrators can be very.....plain, when it comes to enthusiasm.
Reading and Kramer are great, and over time get thier feet.
But Way of Kings was....is....a bit of a slog to listen to.
I ended up opting to just read like one or two chapters a day on my limited freetime
@@dualwieldroxas358 I get what you mean. I've listened to all of Stormlight and enjoyed it. Maybe it's the length that causes them to drag a bit. On that topic, highly recommend the Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks. The audiobooks are a real treat. It's A++ epic fantasy.
@@rrael Ooh, i have been meaning to read that one.
Any idea if the audiobooks are good? I like to listen while at work and continue reading on my free time
@@dualwieldroxas358 They're fantastic. I've listened to hundreds of audiobooks and it's one of the best narrated series ever. Simon Vance. Don't remember if I've listened to anything else by him, but he's incredible in the Lightbringer saga.
In defense of Ranni's ending in regards to the lore of the different outcomes of the game - Ranni is probably the best ending of a lot of REALLY AWFUL outcomes for The Lands Between. her entire conclusion is 'The outer gods are, all around, AWFUL for everyone. I'm linked to the only one that seems to want to claim dominion and LEAVE. Let's win, and let everyone sort themselves out without eldritch interference." Then there's also that she seems to actually like the tarnished, under all her mega-tsundere tendencies.
all criticisms aside, if you don't like the current ruling power, you can just walk in, kill them, and establish a new status quo, so ranni taking the rune to space means that there could be no future tarnished (Chosen Undead, Ashen One) like the player character (i'm pretending there aren't portals to farum azula)
ranni removes the goal, golden order removes free will, frenzied flame removes all life and we eventually start over
best answer is clearly fia ending because now skeletons can vote
For whatever it's worth, Ranni seems to genuinely like a lot of her allies. Didn't exactly save them, but still.
I think if anything the DLC suggests that goldmasks rune of perfect order would probably lead to a pretty okay ending too. We know from Metyr's rememberance that the Greater Will abandoned the lands between almost as soon as it sent its envoys. So the Golden Order and its crimes are a contrivance of Marika, Radagon, the demigods, the fingers and the elden beast. With Goldmasks rune of perfect order, the demigods and the elden beast dead, we can probably expect the Golden Order to follow a somewhat similar material progression to medieval societies in our own history. There is hope for this world, unlike in Dark Souls, and without Marika there is a chance that the depravities of the Golden Order become a thing of the past. At the very least society wont be dictated by immortal beings with their own interests placed above all else.
Duskborn ending best ending. Corpses deserve rights.
Please put a Thogg cameo in one of your books lol. Elantris sequels would be a good place to put him.
Sanderson x Miyazaki. Let's go!
So what do we have here? We have Thog, the high priest of the Church of the Holy Bonk. Thog does not use magic; Thog does not understand magic. It confuses, amazes, and stuns him. He does not use a bow; a bow does not bonk people. He does not use throwing items; they do not bonk people. Thog bonks people with two swords, trying to convert them to the Church of the Holy Bonk. He knows that they have been well and truly baptized when they stop moving.
perfect dnd introduction lol
To be fair, that throwing weapon bit is now inaccurate. Once.
I wonder what he'll think when he finds the throwing hammer... long range bonk
I've been wondering that too, those smithscript weapons are so good. They already nerfed the shield, but it's still OP lol
another weird sect of his church I suppose
@@plain_simple_garaki am loving the shield in my RL1 playthrough. It does surprisingly good damage, you can stay at good range, and it interrupts SO MANY BOSSES
The thumbnail of Brandon in armor is so peak. Thogg is also clearly the character with the richest lore in the game.
Doing this at level 75 is INSANE. Mad props
Thog 'Leather Side', Thog 'The Vigorless', Thog 'The Imortal', and Thog 'One Shot'. These are some of the historical names known to be associated with Thog, High Priest of BONK.
He's Bonk's Brother (Jacksepticeye Bonk build in soulsborne games) ME BONK!
One of my favorite authors is playing one of my favorite games. This is grand!
Brandon and Miyazaki, I've never been more sure of a collab in my entire life
Brandon Sanderson is now my favorite gaming channel.
this playthrough would take 10000 hours just for the dlc, for a busy guy he likes to waste time by not leveling up lol
That thumnail is❤️🔥🔥 brandom looks epic!!
It's so cool to see Brandon playing games, specially a soulslike one
“I think gale is jail”
“Oh really”
Me in downunder-land - “We caught ‘im robbin’ a cashies… Chuck ‘im in the gaol, mate… I’m off for a cheeky bevvy”
Ok
Now please make a game with fromsoftware
i didn’t think you knew about the legend of thog this is such a huge win for elden ring and thog enjoyers
10:30 well said 👏👏
Answer for people who say Formsoftware games have no story. For video games, environmental storytelling > Storytelling through excessive use of cutscenes
When I first watch Tarnished Archaeology, it was incredible how much in-game story and lore he was able to extrapolate from the architecture itself and the scars of the land.
I absolutely love that my favourite author is morphing into a CZcamsr playing amazing games. Ordinarily I'd say "quit playing and start writing!" but you're smashing the books out quicker than I can read them, so I'll shut up
Man just loves what he does and still makes time for breaks.
That is a healthy mindset that promotes a better enviroment for writing
Strength before Vigor
10:25 TOGETHAAAAA
FAMILEEEEE
Thog is prime Alethi
kinda Young Dalinar
I’ve never read a Brandon Sanderson book but I know his books must be gas if he likes Elden ring
I recommend Mistborn to start off. Elantris is technically a better "starting point", but Mistborn, imo, is more friendly to newcomers and really introduces Sanderson's style well
i got to hear brandon sanderson say waifu
"Thowing weapons dont bonk people" Miyazaki is way ahead of you here Brandon
Donald, the unpaid intern, is a great hypeman.
Bonksmith...
I saw the notification for this and instantly hit the Shaq face 😯
Brandon Sanderson maining my beloved Royal Greatsword omg. Truly a man of fashion, intellect and culture. 😩😩😩 I love.
i think the closest i've gotten to reading something that reminded me of souls story-telling is the Malazan series. the piecing together of the past throughout the books, and the spoon-feeding of details about some characters like Anomander Rake. edit: not to mention the difficulty at first 😂
Was hoping someone mentioned that, or even Book of the New Sun.
Sanderson would love to read berserk, anyone knows if he read it already?
I love that this guy powerstances colossak swords xD
The absolute GOAT
The Bonk Baptism.
"get bonked" LOL
Quality content I'm willing to watch
Love the way you play. It can be frustrating for me to watch people play this, but you play with the old school mentality like me, and explore pretty exhaustively like me.
Also, a Thog type character cameo could be hilarious in one of your books. It's a pretty funny concept.
“Get bonked” - probably Dalanar
Not much of a fan of his writing but his playthroughs are genuinely hilarious. Also excellent note about epigraphs. Maybe in a big book you could do a few chapters where some scholar or investigator is collecting scraps of information and throw them all in there, or start each chapter with a few epigraphs that build on one another.
That is what he does in Stormlight. It's really cool to see how they are pieced together
Gaol is old english for jail, and now this expansion theyre using scadu, which is apparently old English for shadow.
Well done Tarnished. Go forth and Bonk!
My favorite author playing my favorite game ❤🙏😊 😀
I'm more of a three sword man myself.... 0:43
Please, for the love of God, please, higher quality than 720p.
I’d love some Elden ring lore video reactions from you, man
11:45 I think the best example of incidental world building is the Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia Wrede.
Bonk was a great game on Turbo GraFX
Bonk Damage is the Best Damage Type that exists.
Cool thumbnail
Enjoyed this. Brandon is truly based! Too bad he doesn't like stealth games, I think he would have enjoyed the Metal Gear Solid saga if he gave it a try
Speak again the ancient oaths:
Bonk before magic
Strength before vigor
And return to thog the bonking ability he once bor
The bonk knights must stand again
Wow author of Mistborn playing Elden Ring!
Wait what the actual fuck. How is Brandon fucking Sanderson the most based souls player of all time? What
I was today years old when I learned that my favorite author plays my favorite game. OK. Second favorite author. You lose out to Terry Pratchett. Sorry. But… Still!
"Is there a way to replicate soulslike descriptions in books" I mean... I feel like the Stormlight epigraphs are actually kind of similar in nature and purpose to the Souls item descriptions. I don't know if it's possible to do any serious written storytelling using ONLY stuff like that, but Brandon has actually done a pretty good job of incorporating a similar concept.
EDIT: LMAO seconds after I said that he mentions epigraphs. Although weirdly enough not his own XD
Im sad he didnt make kaladin as his mc
I bet this dude is writing a book with his feet while he plays.
It’s funny seeing Brandon play video games.
Brandon, doubt you'll read this but you would LOVE sekiro if you haven't played it yet.
Wow I didn't realize he was such a hardcore Souls player. So awesome to see my favorite author and favorite game series coming together
Love your shit Brandon.
24:16 Day9TV makes a cameo "brick with a brick"
Why do you have a guy interviewing you while playing instead of interacting with your chat? Never seen that before. Chat interaction is one of the most important things while streaming.
Thogg's 1st ideal is "Death before Dex, Strength before Vigor, BONK BONK BONK"
But shields ARE bonk weapons.
Thog dont caare
brandon is an epic gamer wow
Huge influential writer also games.
Best day ever.
Ultra greatswords are funny weapons, because if you're underleveled or approaching fights with the wrong mindset then they're the hardest things in the world, but then if you're playing right then 70% of bosses will go down before you can even engage with them mechanically
My first playthrough I really struggled with a lot of the latter half of the game, but going through it again for the dlc I beat Mohg before he could even get any real attacks off
"Unique controller set up"
That's...just normal.
So sounds like Malenia took him longer to beat than it takes him to write a book.
Altho camera makes it impossible to see, he's writting 2 books at once. One with each feet.
I tought for a moment that brandon in the thumbnail was wearing the armor of Rick Soldier of God.
I don't believe for a second that this guy beat Malenia xD What is this gameplay? 😂
Wdym he's super under leveled
I hope Sanderson and Fromsoft make a game together next.
I wonder if Brandon has ever read The Order of the Stick? There is an orc named Thog in it who also bonks.
Brandon, what happens to the church of Bonk. When the next Elden Ring uses A.I. to constantly change the way Bosses fight so you can never memorize their moves?
i mean you would never need spirit summons if you just levelled up and got better pots, also much more vigor to actually learn attacks without getting 2 shot, incantations and buffs etc. Strengthen yourself before using external support.
I love that my favorite author of my favorite book in my favorite series plays my favorite game lmao
Gaol is indeed meant to be "Jail", it is its etymological precursor irl. However it's still technically pronounced with a hard G.
Based BONKer
Lol i love how the beginning of the video feels like the start of an interlude in a SA book
such a chad
I love that Brandon used the ancestral follower spirit ash. I really liked that guy and wore the antlers you get down there as well to match him. My tarnished and the ancestral follower have slain many great foes together.
