    THANK YOU very much for this video. My screen on my 2012 Prius stopped working, I did the 'hard press' around the edges and now it works fine. I very much appreciate your time making and posting this . You saved me the cost of a new screen and / or repair.

    We have a 2007 Prius that we have owned for about 3 years and we replaced the touch screen when we acquired it. Because without the touch screen, all the cool things do not work.
    Man I wish we would have had this video because it could have fixed the original one maybe lol. So thank you. I did the business card thing and cleaned out the dust and cleaned it really well with glass cleaner and the touch screen came back. And now will live for another day. Yay

  • @cameik
    @cameik Před 2 lety +3

    Although I appreciate your fix, there's one thing you mentioned that I highly warn against- using glass cleaner anywhere near these displays... The ammonia can etch into certain displays, removing anti glare coatings in odd patches, or even around the edges etching into the contacts to either touch screen or lcd contact points... maybe this could be why the unit is malfunctioning in the first place, was glass cleaner used before the problem started? It looks like it could wick through the edge and pool there. I say use at least 70% rubbing alcohol to clean, the alcohol evaporates quickly, without etching into anything, and be carefull to mop up any liquid getting onto the screen before it can wick into the edge, continuing to cause trouble after you clean and dry the area of the screen that is visible...

      You can replace the touchscreen component. It requires partial disassembly of the dash to remove the MFD, and then almost complete disassembly of the MFD to replace the touch screen. There are CZcams tutorials detailing these processes, let me know if you need any assistance.

    • @PyroTech76
      @PyroTech76  Před 3 lety

      Are you able to control the stereo and AC? If only the battery/ charge functions are missing a supporting module for that function has failed (would need to research further).
      If it displays the Toyota logo and then fails to display anything else, seems like this is a boot failure. The boot memory module is probably at fault.

    • @PyroTech76
      @PyroTech76  Před 3 lety

      @VESANG Hey, I didn't even think of someone turning off the MFD functions, I forgot about that. There are external modules which communicate to the MFD, while others are part of the MFD. I've read there is an simple IP network (of sorts) which is utilized, I haven't dug too deeply into it.

      @@khalidmahmood8466sorry. yeah, that is probably your best option unfortunately. CFLs in screens are as thin and brittle as pencil lead, and you could still have a problem with the power going to them.
