This was the movie that proved to me that Brad Pitt wasn't just another pretty face and could actually act. That final scene where he becomes "Wrath" was nothing short of excellent.
I always thought his pacing around, head movements and the delivery of the "Whats in the barx" line seemed a little , I don't know, hammy ? . Just my thought anyway.
He already proved it in Twelve Monkeys. That was his most outstanding performance imo.

You make a good point. This is one of the best portrayals of what being a cop is probably like. boredom with brief interruptions of WTF.
A truly eye-opening look into actual police work. Most serial killers are caught through dumb luck or their own arrogance. Very rarely do cops/detectives actually apprehend someone through rigorous investigating.
But seriously, why hasn't a 12 Days of Christmas slasher? On the first day they find one body, next day they find two and that's when they realize just how bloody this holiday season is going to be.

Nah, i just watched it. It gave me chills, he cut off her head and lost the baby, like what you would expect? I probably wouldve done the same. Either way, if he didnt he wouldve gone through hell.🤷♂️
And jump scares when Sloth “wakes up.” Every. Time.
Uh no. The exact opposite is true. Its one of the worst endings of all time. It doesnt even make sense of the logic of the movie

Those guys are so good they can legitimately deconstruct a Great Movie and be absolutely spot on and funny and show the love and the hindsight smartass wisdom like always . Kudos to the writers.
The end credits of Se7en roll from top to bottom. A very rare instance in Hollywood.
and the opening credits were like nothing we'd ever seen before. Those in particular had a HUGE influence on movies and tv shows for years.
They also cleverly did not include Spacey's name in opening credits. Going in to see the film with little prior knowledge... it was an impressive shock (at the time!) when the actor showed up.
@Don't be fatuous, Jeffrey It was a smart idea: if we viewers get so far into the movie without seeing Kevin Spacey, it'll be obvious that he's the killer.
@@lisamelroy2855 that was basically what Spacey said afterwards. He had shot Usual Suspects and a few other movies and knew his profile was growing enough that if they listed him at the beginning it would be pretty easy to figure out he was the killer. "I'm the third-billed actor in a movie where the top two billings are trying to find somebody and they don't find that somebody until the last reel, then it's obvious who that somebody is."
When my girlfriend and I walked out of the theater after seeing this, she looked at me, and said "I'll never forgive you for this." I could only smile.
I said something like that to my brother when he made me watch it so he could WATCH my face during the box reveal.
There was almost an “8ight” movie where Morgan Freeman would reprise his role and be revealed to have some sort of telepathic powers.
For real.
So glad that never happened. They did recycle it for a serial killer movie with Sir Anthony Hopkins, though.
After having heard the ideas that were floated for a 'Gladiator' sequel, I am more than willing to believe this is for real.

This movie is amazing! One thing that didn't make sense though was how it constantly rained in the city but then a 30 minute drive away and they're in the desert. It's kinda trippy the movie never mentioned any state or city location.
I think the point was that the city was supposed to feel like an isolated bubble that just completely sucks. That's why when they got out of the city it's different. It's pretty crazy though
that's because they were in Springfield.
I wonder if Fincher was inspired by Blade Runner? I know that's the future and implied to be pollution, but the contrast was really neat, and I think the atmosphere is what mattered there and here...
.... although the director's cut of BR had come out by the time this film was made, I think? No Kubrick-supplied mountain B-roll there. But still, growing up watching the original release - that could still have had an impact.
The city is Gotham. I never thought about it but it occurred to me when he started describing it in the beginning of the video. You really can put Batman in there and it would totally work.

I never noticed that Brad Pitt wears a childish basketball tie before, Honest trailer has a great sense of noticing details.
Nicely done, and your respect for this classic film is evident in every frame. There are seven dwarfs. In the box.
Finally someone else notices that Doe’s plan for Envy really didn’t make a lot of sense and relied on the fortuitous last minute coincidence that the cop investigating his murders had a hot wife
Doe likely had a plan for someone else for the final 2 sins but when he investigated those who were investigating him, it was too good an opportunity to pass up, or he figured there were good odds one of them would have a partner
John clearly was picking random people who he thought fit the crimes apart from like Sloth. So him just randomly choosing David or whatever isn't all that surprising at all

This movie disturbed me so much that it was only through repeated viewings I was able to appreciate how well it was crafted and desensitise myself to the content a little. But only a little.
I totally get avoiding it, though. That was my approach to Irreversible. Everyone has their limits.

This just made my day! I really loved the part where you compared Mills and Somerset to Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot and Benoit Blanc. I laughed so hard when Benoit Blanc was describing the Gluttony scene and ended with "Oh my word!"😂🤣 This was an Honest Trailer I didn't know I needed until now!

The John Doe line "I didnt do that" in response to the dead dog was a brilliant adlib from the always awesome Spacey!

4:30 funny thing, in the opening they pan over a whole bookshelf of notebooks, supposedly written by John Doe. They were supposed to be in a later scrapped scene but in the name of 'authenticity' someone actually wrote like 10 notebooks worth of serial killer ramblings, and in the end they were just shown in one passing shot for the opening.
i was obsessed with this when it came out, i loved it so much. and to this date it's one of the few high-concept serial killer chases that aims for something a little more interesting.

This movie and "The Batman" actually give off similar vibes. And I loved both movies
first time i saw the batman i realy struggled to see past the se7en pastiche. i feel that reeves outh to have acknowledged it but i guess fincher borrowed from 70s cinema and so did reeves. and i love that he took a template like se7en and gave it a more hopeful ending.

Whenever I'm on a road trip and see one of those fields filled with those electrical towers, I think of this movie.
It’s weird that both Se7en and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo involve serial killers acting out the seven deadly sins.

You guys pulled the “Honest Hollywood Stories | Gwyneth Paltrow” video a couple hours after you dropped it. It was hilarious! What happened? Did Gwyneth send a Cease & Desist?

I thought I was imagining things!
I wanted to show my wife. Was looking for it on my phone and TV for like 20 minutes, when I found there is a link to it on the Honest Trailer video's description. So I clicked the link -> didn't work. Then we started to watch the Honest Trailer and that got pulled, too. When it came back, we immediately watched it. Hope some day we'll know the truth of it.
@@arsyee well, this Honest Trailer they had to make an edit due to CZcams guidelines. They talk about it in the HT Commentary. There was an issue due to violence because they included the scene from Fight Club where Ed Norton's character shoots himself in the cheek. They changed it to a clip of him holding Marla's hand while the city blows up. The other trailer I am upset that I was working when it published and now I won't get to see it. I hope they re-upload it.

@@TheRealNormanBates if you were in that situation would you be able to just “pick” an emotion? You’d be all over the place. Fury, fear, denial, hatred, heartbreak, etc. he goes between full resolve to murder John Doe to looking away trying to calm himself down. It’s an amazing performance.
