- In this episode of Street Food Icons, we meet Ms. Zuly Chacón, owner of the Venezualan food truck ‘Las Sabrozas’, as she takes us through the complex process of preparing her iconic arepas in Groningen.
Zuly was raised on the island Isla Margarita by her grandparents and adopted their passion for Venezuelan food and cooking.
With her incredibly broad menu of Venezualan street foods, including her iconic arepas, Zuly is rightfully proud of successfully bringing her home country’s culture to the Netherlands.

I live in Groningen and I walk pass the stand every single day. The arepas she prepares are wonderful!
I was fully expecting her to be speaking in Spanish and to be able to understand w/o reading the subtitles. Hearing her speak Dutch definitely broke my brain. You can really tell she enjoys making arepas and sharing the Venezuelan cuisine.
One of the unofficial reason I moved to Groningen: enjoy arepas & empanadas from Las Sabrozas every weekend. See you guys next Saturday!!
Finally my top favourite food truck gets the attention it deserves on this big platform!! Addicted to their arepa and super spicy sauce and I'm here every weekend!
Beautiful woman with a beautiful spirit, blessings to her and her family/business
Her Dutch with a Venezuelan accent ends up sounding so Brazilian with an Australian lift.
The way her voice goes up at the end of every sentence is hella funny😂
Hahahahaha now I can’t stop listening to it like is Brazilian Portuguese 😅
I thought she was speaking Portuguese!
I was wondering for sec!
I was thinking the same thing !!!!
She seems like a lovely person with an amazing family! I’m so glad her husband encouraged her to start her own business. Her food looks so good, I’m just sorry it’s so far from Northern Cal where I’m from. 💕
Her energy is everything and her food looks amazing beautiful soul 💓
Protect this amazing woman and her culinary skills at all costs! And justice for the people of Venezuela 🇻🇪!!!!
😂
Absolutely.
Justice? They voted that dummy in, they got what they asked for
@@hisroyalhighness8566 if you knew a little about Latin-American politics you’ll think before posting this. Or perhaps not.
@@hisroyalhighness8566 dont speak about something you don’t know nothing about lol
Beautiful lady and family with great energy and smile. Cheered me right up on this gloomy Yorkshire evening.
Her smile never left and I wish to God let her live that way happy and healthy. Thank you for spreading postivity.
Oh wow, didnt expect an item in Groningen. 🥰. I'll have a try soon!
Did you ever go?
Wonderfull food. I love the way Suly and Cor made themselves famous in Groningen and Aduard.
Amazing to see Las Sabrozas on here! I've been a loyal customer for years now. 🥰

🙏🏽❤️
nice
If one day I’m in Netherland I will definitely go to her
Her laugh is so cute
❤️❤️❤️❤️
It really sounds like Portuguese when a native Spanish speaker speaks Dutch
I came here to say the same thing. Like a really weird Brazilian dialect.
@MusicProductionAndSheet that's definitely true, fair point.
And she uses HARINA P.A.N, the only way you can make an authentic venezuelan Arepa is with HARINA P.A.N and she also has Maltin Polar as well
Modern urban arepas that is, using precooked corn meal. The traditional old rural method is different.
Malta is our tropicalized maltzgetränke, it only changes one ingredient due to agricultural-climatic avalaibility.
We most probably have a higher per capita consumption than in Germany. (🇻🇪: ~11-12 lts per year, >360 million lts). 🇻🇪🤠👍 It was introduced in the 1950s by Polar beer maker. Not even in Spain nor the US know much about the beverage.
Arepas are delicious; the greasier the better IMO especially with a runny egg 😍
I love how they do the meat together
Arepas are the best , I’d love munchies to do a little segment in Lisbon , Portugal it’s a very underrated cuisine that everyone should try
I'll do exactly that over new years. 4 days, 3 nights, food in Lisbon.
Best food in The Netherlands!!!
Jongens, een deze dagen rij ik ff naar Groningen!
What an intonation....
That food looks so so good. As a fat man in the U.K. I am extremely jealous. And Hungry 😞
This is delicious 🤤🤤🤤
👍👍👍👍
I'm Venezuelan I left my country 5 years ago, I would die to go to a place like this to eat.
The food just doesn't taste the same outside.
Hey I saw the diving football player from Mamio! From the Neymar diving school!
Woh
I love the Dutch language, really underrated.
Sounds like a mixture of german and American english to me
To all the readers; I wish you, your loved ones and your parents a very Blessed, Healthy,
Propsperous and Wealthy life. Stay Blessed ❤❤❤

What a fucking star!!!!
Best arepas in Nederland 050 REPRESENT
I had a stroke when she started speaking, I was like “wait don’t Venezuelans speak Spanish, why does it sound Portuguese” 😭 then I read the comments and realized it was Dutch lmaooo 💀
The Venezuelan accent is so different wow
impressive woman for sure 🕊
Their spicy chicken arepa is bussin.
Ojalá vendan arepas fritas de mechada con queso holandes 😜
Respect embrace what gave you the freedom to do what you like. Who knew thats bars could keeps the bad guys out or in huh 🤔 surprize Surprize
It's wild that as a native English speaker I can find Dutch-Spanish understandable because of the same language roots
I def wanted to hear her spanish since the dialect of Dutch may carry over
She is beautiful!
Bruh, I’m damn hungry rn..
