out of all the books the NYX one feels like it's going to be the most fun for me. I dont care that they're diverse in sexuality or ethnicity but their personalities and power sets are really diffrent and they feel like an x-team for the modern age, you have a stabby girl, someone with telepathy to keep the team connected, a strong leader, your 'geek' and then someone who cant hide and turn off their mutation. I love this team!
I’ve been wanting a cosmic adventure comic book series for Jean as Phoenix since I was a kid. This is a literal dream come true! 🔥🥰

Anole finally gets some love. I've always thought his powerset is theoretically cool and he could be the Nightcrawler of his gen, with stealth powers. Very few have written him well though.
I did like his friendship with Graymalkin.
Oh and that time Lady Mastermind tormented him.

@@MatthewLoh-ru1mw Her phoenix related comics stay in Top 10 comics for MANY weeks from the moment it releases. So no wonder writers keep making Jean/Phoenix related comics. Her X-Men Red was also very well written.
Tough that Hellion just never gets used. NYX would've been great for him, especially with Laura and a Cuckoo involved.
X-Factor is my next best chance lol
About Sophie…
She’s one of the Cuckoos but she’s the one who was dead the longest with Esme being second on that and being the evil one.
The others just hung around for a long time.
I do know that Sophie and Esme were used with Destiny, John Proudstar and Moira’s Shi-at golem in Claremont’s Chaos war but those two have been put on ice for a while.
But Sophie is an interesting one because she was the first head of the cuckoos and was the most heroic so, if any of them were going to try and find an excuse identity out of the group, it makes sense for her to go off on her own.
Prodigy is an interesting pick. I mean, his abilities are really cool although I will miss his friendship with Eye Boy.
Anole could be good. One of my favourite One-shots was Divided we Stand. And his friendship with Graymalkin was sweet, I just don’t know what they’d do with him.
Kamala is a decent pick with this continuation and she’s working with characters in roughly the same age group.
Laura… I don’t like her first appearance in NYX because of the vomit inducing ZebraDaddy of it all. I do hope Gabby appears.
I think it’ll be an interesting title, especially since all five characters are somewhat adrift without their usual friends.
But I swear, if we are doing NYX, I want Stacy X to appear.
When they stopped putting gabby and laura together I lost track of where she went

For me, it’s a lot of characters who have had minimal interactions with each other that could be interesting.

10:30 is perfection! exactly how i feel about the naming conventions for these series. also, i think that Gambit wine might be sneaking up!
I am excited about the Phoenix book. It's been a long time coming, and if done right, I think the comic could be really solid. My hope is that when all is said and done, towards the end of that arc, we can see better development with Jean without the Phoenix. I know I'm jumping ahead, but there are time's where the writing in regards to her character can be lazy (i.e. the way she seems to die so frequently). It will be interesting to see where her relationships go from here as well.
I noticed that they are hinting to this in X-Men 97 as well with her desire to roam the stars. So it looks like this might have been in development
So far, only interested iN Cyclops led X-MEN book, STiLL waiting to see what X-FACTOR looks like.

I'm happy Jean will be doing cosmic adventures and I really hope Storm will also continue hers cosmically as well. I was thinking that either NYX or X-Factor would be about the Five. But I am excited regardless
Yes, and no, Storm will be going into US politics on Earth representing Arakko politically

@@peterkhondowe113 the writer for the Storm book hasn't been announced yet, so we can only wait (for example, the Phoenix book featuring Jean, the one and only, is being written by Stephanie Philips, who is very hit or miss depending on what book or character she is writing!)
@@peterkhondowe113 the possible reason why she is going from Voice of Sol to mutant representative is because whatever happens in the final battle between mutants and Orchis, is that Arakko is not going to be acknowledged / recognised by the US Government, hence why she is going into US politics

I wish they would bring the original artist back for the nyx comic. That original run was my absolute favorite. The art and story were just so good. It’s what sparked my comic interest lol
I always found it kind of weird how when they are about to start a new era, but haven’t finished the resolution of whatever big event is about to climax, it kind of spoils that everyone is making it through. Not that anyone ever really dies in comics, of course.
Book looks cool. Based on the description, I wish the art was a little grimier.

I hope someone helps me but does anyone know where to read comics? Its been over a decade since i last bought a comic (favorite comic book store no longer exists in my area) and dont know where i could access them online
Marvel unlimited is probably one of the best values out there. Dc has an app too but it’s just in the US. Thousands of back issues, with the new stuff added a few weeks after the physical releases.
NYX seems a little underwhelming but I’m going to give it a fair shot.
I like Jackson & Collin. The used to follow me on twitter before I started ranting about how much I disliked Taylor’s Nightwing

This book looks very promising. Hopefully we will get to see Kiden and the rest of the old NYX later on in the series.
With the amount of Academy X characters in it, and Surge is away in the X force books, I would like for characters like Dust and Hellion to appear.
@@christopherbennett5858 I mean what's been going on with Hellion, Wallflower, Indra, Cipher? All these great Academy X characters and they were hardly shown during the Krakoa Era. Hopefully they will be featured in this From The Ashes Era.

Aside from Leah Williams’ X factor book which showed their resurrections, not much. It also showed the return of Winddancer.
Anole, Mercury and pixie have been getting decent bits in books like New Mutants, Way of X and Legion of X. Same with Dust since she literally formed the circuit with Legion to make the Alter. She was also with Magik, Marrow, Dani and Typhoid Mary in Realm of X.
Prodigy has been getting decent stuff as well. And Blindfold returned to give Xavier a verbal assassination.
I’d say that it’s been more of a Generation X era with Monet, Synch, Chamber and Emma getting some great moments with some love to the Morrison run.
Us Academy X freaks may be getting our time now.
Do you think the Phoenix story is going to revolve around finding the mutants Beast blasted with the black hole gun?
No. Because "dark" Beast NEVER got the chance to fire the black hole gun because good Beast stopped him

Techncially, there was a time where she was out in space with the Phoenix and she kinda unalived I want to say a whole planet? So she might want to at least keep her powers and emotions in check, somewhat.
She did, when she went dark Phoenix and obliterated an entire planet of mushroom people

even with how interesting a couple of them sound, I do kinda feel some worry in having way too many x-books right off the bat. continuity and consistency will probably be all over the place and seems like it'll really be stretching the wallets for x-men fans. im gonna say a number of them will not make it past 6 issues even if they might be pretty good.

I feel like there should be an opposite to the Phoenix Force. I'm surprised Marvel hasn't done one yet since they made the opposite of the One Above All being the One Below All. Like there should be a force opposite to the Pheonix Focee that is made of the darkest and most destructive of energy as an opposite to life, created by the One Below All to serve its left hand of destruction as the Hulk serves as its right in a way with the Immortal Hulk storyline. They could also unite many of Marvel's Cosmic Villains like the Shadow King, Knull, Dormomu, and other cosmic representations of darkness, death, evil, and destruction under the banner of the ultimate villain of Marvel who intends to invade all the multiverse with its cosmic villains serving as its general's to its vast armies.
They haven't come up with one! (Yet)

It probably will be written more like an anthology than a traditional team, although they'll likely intersect at various points. I gather Speed may appear once his relationship with David is continuing.

Still like to have a better look how this Phoenix looks. Saw one artist depiction and didn’t care for it as her emblem makes it look like a bib/shoulder pad. Not a good look at all so hopefully it really doesn’t look it in the series. I’m over Ms Marvel being thrown at us since changed to mutant.

Daken is half Asian, but Laura's mother, Dr. Sarah Kinney, has always been depicted as White with just enough non-descript artistic specificity that she could be revealed to have Asian or even Native heritage.

Nah, you should always care. Jean and the Phoenix are always one and the same. Her headpiece is a nod to her X-men Gold team suit which owes it's design to her X-Factor uniform.

Marvel should put the whole Phoenix concept in the Disney vault for a while. Jean Grey without the Phoenix in X-Men Red Vol. 1 was the most compelling she had been written in a while.
That NYX is gonna suck. I give it 20 issues tops.

"40 years of reading comics"? I started reading in 1982 at 10. I'm a 52 year old geek. So yes, it gets annoying when some people try to tell me that my gripes about casting in the MCU are based in some sort of "ism" or "phobia". No, it's based in 42 years of character investment. I remember when Iceman was romantically interested in Polaris.

I've read nearly every X-related comic from the series' inception, for almost 40 years myself, and I just can't agree with you. Being queer, I always read the X-stories with potential for queerness, and many gay or trans people don't know who they are until later in life because the pressures of society to conform. So many of us gay & trans readers have been around since the beginning because what X-Men stood for. I imagine, someone with a sheltered heterosexual experience wouldn't pick up on the bread-crumbs left for our community. Like Iceman, for example. He was queer coded very early on, and I know many gay men who would get it on with Polaris, she is simply magnetic. If you focused more energy on being a better ally, maybe you wouldn't feel like such an outsider.. because let's face it, straight white men are not a minority, or a marginalized group that needs more representation. Queer people have complex lives and stories, over-simplifying us into one monolithic experience like "Iceman used to be attracted to Polaris" or "Rachel wanted to ride Franklin Richards" is just being ignorant to the journey many queer people experience before standing in their truth.
