Does the Effaclar Duo LRP Work?
The Effaclar Duo by La Roche-Posay, claims to reduce 60% of acne in just 10 days as its formulated with 5.5% micronized benzoyl peroxide, which is said to work FAST.
Effaclar Duo Ingredients
There are 3 key ingredients. The 5 and a half percent micronized benzoyl peroxide as the acne treatment, which is a lot easier on the skin vs the 10% types, the lipo hydroxy acid which will be your exfoliant, and glycerin, which acts as your humectant to hydrate the skin during this whole process.
Theres actually another ingredient here too, which if you look carefully youll also find a 0.4% capriloyl salicylic acid which was created by loreal, it has a larger molecular size and along with its fatty acid structure has been shown to work slower than your typical salicylic acid products which means that it is less irritating and milder.
How to Use La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Dual Action Acne Spot Treatment Cream with Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Treatment
1.) So the first game changing tip is, making sure this product is going on a clean slate. You want the product to get inside the skin, not work on top of your makeup. To enhance the effects of acne spot treatments like this one here, you need a clean canvas. So start by fully cleansing the face with a cleanser that is formulated for your skin type and closer to your skins natural pH.
2.) Gauge your sensitivity. Use the product as soon as the first sighting of acne if your skin is normal. Give a little delay after the breakout appears if you have sensitive or dry skin. Dont go in too quick. When you notice a breakout or area with blackheads, apply a thin layer of this cream 1-3 times per day to the area, of course after a thorough cleanse. If your skin is on the sensitive side, stick to 1-2 times a day. The product is nice in that it gets easily absorbed within a couple of minutes without leaving you too greasy.
Benzoyl Peroxide Stinging
If its stinging and you experience a lot of redness, consider using a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide solution instead, or identify if your skin barrier needs some repair first, which is often the case if your face has become damaged, as a result of overusing harsh products like chemical peels, acids or retinoids.
3.) Long term benzoyl peroxide use can produce free radicals and has been shown to deplete your skin levels of vitamin E. And could also explain why you might feel this product is too harsh. This is because it creates oxidative species to fight the bacteria causing the acne, right? but at the same time can damage your skin cells too. So using it alongside an antioxidant serum or moisturizer is recommended.
How to Use a Moisturizer with Effaclar Duo
Wait 5-10 minutes after applying effaclar so it gets absorbed into the skin and then you can use a moisturizer of your choice. And speaking of free radicals, UV radiation causes the production of free radicals too, so you want to make sure you use a broad spectrum sunscreen of spf 30 or more, during the day.
4.) While its been reported that benzoyl peroxide may decrease the efficacy of your vitamin C serum when used in the same routine, you can still use a vitamin C product in the morning, and your benzoyl peroxide product in the evening. Just make sure to space them apart.

Could you make a video talking about having simultaneously eczema and oily acne prone skin (on face)? There's that derm in my country that recommands isotretinoin to regulate sebum production and better tolerate the consistent use of those eczema moisturizers that are usually a bit on the thicker side.
But do you think there's an alternative to treat such tricky patient that have important seborrhea but also atopic dermatitis?

I need to try this correctly! My skin is dry and pretty sensitive too so I really need to be careful with this one, but we will see.
Can I just put my ordinary serum/toner on and then moisturizer and then able to put the spot cream on? Or is that too much?
It does the same thing for me except I use it as a spot treatment. Looks bad for 2/3 days, then the peeling starts and the acne scars start to be lighter
