      Arsenal had a dip midseason.
      There is a price that comes with having a better defence. Rice just can’t play progressive passes like Partey would do. And as a team, we stopped playing such a high line as we did last season in exchange for a better defence.
      When Partey was injured, we have no solution playing against teams that park the bus. We are forever passing between Rice and our defenders.
      Especially if we can’t play Zinchenko as well, the situation gets even worse. The quality of our possession, buildup play, ball progression and chance creation were nonexistent.
      Except for Haaland, it is very clear that ManCity players are so much more skillful on the ball than Arsenal players. ManCity is clearly better than Arsenal. But what Arsenal do, doing things the right way, is what I respect them for. We can be proud that we are the best team in England among the clubs that didn’t breach FFP.

Now it’s expected to qualify and we’re pushing Liverpool and city right to the last games of the season! We’re doing good James. People often confuse progress with achievement. Arsenal made big progress compared last season to this season.
    1. If Arsenal wins against Everton, they they will reach 89 points, which 5 more points than last year. By the way, the city won the league 89 points last season.
    2. Arsenal beat all big six without defeat
    3. Arsenal scores more goals than last season
    4. Arsenal conceded fewer goals than last season
    5. Arsenal has more cleansheet than last season.
    6. Arsenal won 27 games out of 38 games, which was a maximum win in a single season in history.
    Even if they don't win the league this season, they really deserve to celebrate like champions!

    First time I see your channel, loved the episode and pretty much agree with you on all you said.
    It just really hurts this time (as an Arsenal fan for over 2 decades) because unlike many (many many) times before where we've officially "bottled it",
    I truly feel that this time we really cant be accused of that.
    The boys have really been fantastic this year. Not only are we unbeaten by any of the big 6; we've also scored more goals & won more matches than the INVINCIBLES!).... and we've managed to fight it out to the very last day.
    The pain comes from the fact that many of these "fine margins" this year really haven't been very kind to Arsenal, so many of these came to within literally a few inches away from changing the whole final outcome and leading us to the (what would have been a fully deserved) Title.
    Not to take anything away from City, if they win their next game (and thus get 30 points from their last 10 games) no one could ever say they didn't deserve to win it, they've been phenomenal.
    In an ideal (parallel) universe, this remarkable season would have gone to a final playoff match between Arsenal & Manchester City to decide the winner.

    Everyone talks about “when is 2nd not enough”, ultimately it will be when players start to leave. Make hay while the sun shines, if we don’t win something in the next season, BIG players will start to leave, and the perception of the CLUB will be “they just cant get it over the line” Klopps team stayed together because of the major wins. They had blip seasons but they still won consistently together. I honestly believe an FA Cup, league challenge again and a QF in the CL is the minimum for next season. It ends the trophy talk for a little but but cements the players as “winners”

The team had momentum with Kai as the 9 and no Jesusfor a number of weeks, but at villa arteta started havertz, Saka, Jesus, trossard- we created chances but our balance wasn’t right- trossard missed a sitter, but Jesus was terrible in front of goal - the more chances the team missed the more nervous we got and Villa gained confidence exposed us and won the game. It's not about the fine margins, there's still a wide gap between them and us. Also they had KDB out for months plus club world cup schedules. Those made the fine margins look existent, but in fact it's just an illusion.

    The fine margins are more scarier, inexplicable and dumbfounding in tournanents like the World Cup, Champions League , Cup championships etc. etc. I mean look at Real Madrid which is enroute to bagging a 15th UCL trophy. They won quite a few of them while not even being the best team in the world over the years. Or that Martinez save in Arg v France final which finally crowned Argentina as WC winners after decades.

      You create your own luck by having players who make the difference in the the opposition box and your own box. We have that in defense aside from the left side which hopefully will not be an issue when Timber is fully back. We do not have that in attack yet as we didn't score a single goal in 4 different matches. That's not good enough for a team that wants to win the title competing with the juggernaut that is City. A few goals in those games give us more points which would count now.

    @14_Phoenix Před 26 dny

    People cannot say that this city team is weak because had they beaten us at the emirates and eithad (like they usually do), they would have had 96 points.
    Even with a near perfect 2024 form despite the hardest title run-in (15 wins, 16 most likely, 1 draw, 1 loss) , we are still not winning title. All I can is that I am super proud of this team. Going up against these juggernauts, and challenging them until the very end unlike last season.

  • @domagojhrgovic7419
    @domagojhrgovic7419 Před 26 dny

    The reason why we are losing the league is the first half of the season. In the 2024 we have been brilliant, but to win the league against Man City, you need to be at that level from the start. That's why it's important to nail all the signings in the summer. We can't have any experiments like we've seen with Havertz where it took Arteta half the season to find his role in the team.

  • @gunnerjoe6700
    @gunnerjoe6700 Před 26 dny

    James don’t want to say it’s an excuse but do you think it’s harder for other teams to win the league than city because we have more rivals? city’s only rivals are united, who don’t even really see them as rivals… Liverpool are Uniteds real rivals. Arsenal have a huge rivalry with Spurs and United, as well as other London teams like Chelsea… we have at least 3 huge home and away games a season. City just have 1 home and away against United which isn’t even a huge derby. What do you think?

  • @JJJssnn
    @JJJssnn Před 25 dny

    The loss to Villa is most costly because it is self inflicted. There is no reason why Havertz did not play as a 9, given his form at the time. But Mikel chose to do his “experiment” again.
    It took Mikel half a season to figure out how to use Havertz . Then in the game vs Villa, where I thought the experiment at that time has already been proven failed, Mikel become stubborn once again. But I am pleased that mikel realised his mistake and since then we never see Jesus starting in front of Havertz as 9.
    Mikel has the greatest potential but is still a manager of winning pedigree in the making.
