    This video saved me a plumber bill. It is the same spout as the Delta that I have. The only difference was the adapter going to the water supply, but that was of no consequence to the repair. Keep up the good work!!

    I have the same faucet. I was ready to call a plumber. I didnt know you could take the diverter out of the spout.. All I did was take it apart like you did, wash the rubber gaskets, put it back together and it solved the problem. You saved me big bucks. Many thanks.

    Thank you so much. I knew this had to come apart to replace the gasket but I did not know how. Holding the shaft while twisting off the knob was key. With that knowledge I still needed to grab the shaft with locking pliers and wrap the knob to avoid damage while I grabbed it with pliers. The threads on the knob had been glued so I couldn’t take it off by hand.
    Using a paper towel for the CLR was also a good tip, I just filled the bag with CLR. Your technique is better.

    It would be in the viewers best interest if you took away the music. It is distracting not that it's bad music, I actually think it's nice music, but I would rather hear a complete tutorial where there's no music in the background and you are explaining every little thing you're doing because some of us really just need that, especially people who have never done this kind of thing before. It's just constructive criticism I am trying to help. I have that exact faucet but could not get the little plunger thing to come apart.

    When the pull knob is activated to divert water to the shower head, there is a considerable amount of water coming out of the small opening on the bottom of the faucet. Why would this be? Any ideas would be helpful.

    • @mikeshomemaintenancenstuff7030
      @mikeshomemaintenancenstuff7030  Před 3 lety

      If this happens after you replaced the gaskets there may be mineral buildup internal to the faucet where the old gasket mated up. Remove the knob and internals (leave the faucet in place this time) and a cleaning of the area with a CLR soaked paper towel stuffed in the opening for an hour or so will help remove the minerals.

    Hi Mike. Great video! We have the exact same faucet as you show in the video. Your first step is simply twisting off the spout. It looks so easy when you do it but ours won't budge! It was professionally installed. Is there a chance the plumber used some sort of fixative when installing? Are we in danger of breaking the in-wall piping if we try to force it? Thanks so much!

    • @mikeshomemaintenancenstuff7030
      @mikeshomemaintenancenstuff7030  Před 3 lety +1

      The plumber - if it was done properly should have not used anything on the brass spout with the o-ring but if it was installed by someone else they may have used caulking unnecessarily. You should see if the spout is able to move from the wall, can it shift any side to side, use a flat putty knife and "cut" it free from the wall tile. If the spout is free from the wall it either has something gluing it to the spout or possibly it is seized. YES you can break the plumbing if it is plastic (PVC...etc) if it is copper it still can be damaged by force but not as easily. You may need to call a plumber. Too much force can cause leaks on other parts of the tub/shower pipes.

    Hey so I finally got all the parts but when I went to try to unscrew the top off the diverter I couldn’t get it off w the needle nose pliers . Spent and hour trying to take it off then finally gave up, completely scratched up the paint with the pliers. Any suggestions on how to get it off? I tried a little WD40 inside but that didn’t work either. My mom’s calling a plumber friend to come look at it hopefully this week but I’m convinced we’ll just have to buy a new spout. Was able to get the O-ring changed tho so thanks for that!

    • @mikeshomemaintenancenstuff7030
      @mikeshomemaintenancenstuff7030  Před 3 lety

      The knob may be seized with mineral deposits, that happens with all my tub stoppers, they lock right up. WD-40 wouldn't help much with that. You could try and soak the pull up knob in CLR (clrbrands.com/Products/CLR-Household/CLR-Calcium-Lime-Rust-Remover) and that will break up the minerals. And/or you may need locking pliers like vice-grips and a bench vice or channel locks for the knob, make sure to protect the finish of the knob with some wood like a wooden paint stir.

    • @TheNextManimal
      @TheNextManimal Před 3 lety

      Mike's Home Maintenance N' Stuff okay, I thought it more be more rust in the knob than mineral deposits. I’ll soak it in CLR for a couple hours then try again. If not I’ll get some locking pliers. Thanks for all your help!

    Thanks for this. If the top handle is stubborn and won't unscrew from the metal pin, you can still disassemble the diverter without removing that handle. See czcams.com/video/znIScRsJDAA/video.html I had to do it this way and it was easier than expected to reassemble after subjecting the disassembled parts to a two-minute CLR bath, which is all I needed to get the diverter to function properly again.
