Her final words after all those manipulation.. mind blown.
What a brilliant character.
She did it for them, just like how the king of spades said it was the only way to save them.
@@MuMasoo What did the king of Spades even do to help anyone?!?! He never made it easy for them to win
@@thatguybutitsactuallyagirl5384 He said, it was the only way to save them. I think it is implying how he 'saved' that soldier in his flashback by putting him out of his misery. Knowing how it ends, he was just sending them into the afterlife.
@@thatguybutitsactuallyagirl5384 He never intended for them to win. He did it so everybody wouldn't suffer anymore. It's like a mercy kill, he knows that in the real world everyone is suffering and he wants to ease those pain by putting them out of their misery. But still, i don't like the way he brutally kills them, it's unfair because those people wanted to continue to live.
@@nekonekoniii9258 is that a theory? or are you sure of that
Loved the portrayal of the character. The actress who played her stole the show with just one episode, she genuinely felt authentic. Especially in this scene, where she just looked innocently happy to play a game she loves.
Honestly, it took her only this moment to stole the show. What a great character.
Wtf are you talking about, she didn't steal shit king of spades was a 1000 times better
She's looks like Yumeko but adult
@@dba6097 exactly what I was thinking, most of this manipulative characters remind me so much of kakegurui
Her name is Naka riisa, you’re welcome
"Life is a game we play together, so try to enjoy it" deeply profound words from the Queen herself. My favorite part
If you think about it, most if not all of the bosses didn’t care whether they win or lose. But their final messages usually being something along the lines of “if you wanna find out, just reach the end and hear the answer yourself”. I think in a way, the whole show is a message for not ending your own life. Life is indeed somewhat like a game. It has its ups and downs. Some people have really good luck playing it and some people have terrible luck and are bad at it. The people that don’t do well usually quit (aka kill themselves) as a means to stop playing, asking what is the point of continuing if all they do is lose. But the bosses encourage the players to not give up and know that there is a meaning to life. But if you quit, you’ll never know that answer, even if it’s not what you want to hear.
Once you realize that every one of the citizens made it just as far as Arisu and Usagi, it starts to make more sense. They stayed because they were probably still searching for that reason to go on living, or they wanted to impart it into others that would follow in their footsteps. To choose citizenship is a death sentence. The games will eventually be cleared, even if it takes several cycles. What makes Mira such a compelling character is that she was driven by hatred of Arisu for his friendships, and even after she destroyed them with the Seven of Hearts game, he built a new network of friends and love to rely upon. She tries her best to break him of his hope, to fill him with despair and despondency, but when Usagi manages to rekindle the will to live, she's no longer vengeful. She's proud. She offers a heartfelt thanks for witnessing that moment, plays out the rest of the game unburdened and non-manipulative, and when it's game over, her last moment is to encourage him to enjoy life with a smile. When you look back on most of the citizens, they're either wildly crazy and desperate to survive, or they're simply building up the survivors to become better.
Except Queen of Spades, she sucks
@@SamMito28 but she too also encouraged the players to get past all the obstacles to find the truth.
@@dannywang4543 i dont remember much of that arc but what i remember she was salty she lost and mad at Usagi's phylosophy of fighting to get back to the real world
Well it'd be something different for me. The meaning of life is control. So if I see how godly they are, I'd be the one to try the fastest to kill myself. If they can prevent that and make me recognized that THEY killed me before I do then props to them.
The lady who played Mira is an absolutely phenomenal actress. I loved the way her demeanor changed after realizing she couldn't change Arisu's motivation to continue playing. Before, she was playing with a controlled attitude in order to convince them to give up, but after, she played with a much more relaxed attitude. Amazing last episode.
Yepp, I also loved her so much...a great contrast from all the evil face cards, lol. Riisa Naka was adorable in this role, I loved her trolling, she was really sweet and it hurt watching her go, darn it!
She’s absolutely gorgeous too
Yes. She tried to beat Arisu and Usagi but after seeing how much they love each other and want to go back to the real world. She decided to let them win
I’m not going to lie I actually cried for her death. Her last words were so moving. ❤One of my favourite characters and a brilliant job from the actress.
Ye cuz she wasnt really evil in the manga. In the manga she was a psychiatrist and even pities and sympathize her patients. My theory for her staying is to see if she can find someone who can overcome her despair inducing manipulation to see if there is hope for humanity
Her final words are something I want to live by from now on, the lessons this show taught were honestly really heartfelt.
Yep, no joke despite the gaslighting and manipulation…she just seemed like an adult with a child soul. the moment she said those last words, I couldn’t stop crying for hours.
Mira's death scene is one of my favorites because she handled it with dignity and confidence, unlike other characters who scream and beg that they will do anything not to die. In fact, all of the kings and queens in each game died with dignity and confidence. It appeared that they had truly accepted their faith. They admit that they have lost the game and will die. but Mira's is my favorite.
You forgot Kyuma :(
@@sneakytom7416 "all of the kings and queens in each game died with dignity and confidence" they included Kyuma
@@dearmalaysia even the Jack of Hearts?
The fact that they used the same music from Karube and Chota’s death here is so symbolic. The song if called “The Looking Glass” if you’re curious
Finally thank u🫶
No wonder it sounded familiar. Incredibly bittersweet to have it play during Arisu's first brush with how brutal the games were, and now it plays as he finishes the game. The name itself is also such a nice touch.
thankyou!
The wound of Chota, Karube and Tatta's death is still open 😢
Like in "Alice through the looking glass "
When Mira said “Life is just a game we play together” I thought it was one of the most inspiring things a person could say and it true. Everything we do is a game we play together in life and we should try to enjoy it in one way or another.
I’ve heard people speak that way before, and I’ve always tried to live like them. But the way Mira spoke those words, the music, the setting, and her death really spoke to my spirit.
And the "so try to enjoy it", I like how she says "try" and not "have to" to enjoy it
All of the kings and queens died with a smile on their faces, all of them went at peace and that keeps breaking my heart, this show it's pure beauty.
Think of how many cycles it took for them to be defeated. They probably felt imprisoned as the citizens of Borderland, but all had such pride that none wanted to purposely lose. But when they were defeated by worthy adversaries, they were all ready to die in peace, finally released.
Except the Jack of Hearts he died in prision tortured by two men, and rather kill himself to stop them
She did fall so gracefully
Evet
Now reading the story from the manga perspective and watching this I get the impression she was the only one who truly knew what Borderland meant in the literal and theoretical sense. Providing the truth would have been too easy and allowed for players to give up before they even tried instead of recognising the 'why' and 'what is my purpose' right when they were they so close to life and death. It was beautifully executed in the the final monologue from Mira and the absence of colour in the scene.
So, the mystery behind the world of Borderland also signifies the mystery of life I guess? Since every characters portray different lives and how they continue to seek for the truth behind 'what is life'. The game masters also shared their own unique views and we'll put it all together, I think Mira's last words simplify it.. that life is a game that we all play together and we should enjoy it.
@@user-bp4bm4fe5b it's literally just purgatory but with a twist
@@gravls2128 yeah but purgatory doesn’t come with a city wide card themed death game
@@MJ-zq9zg are you sure
@@MJ-zq9zg The guy above me is right it was clearly a metaphor. The “borderland” is literally just the place between life and death. If you die in the games you die in real life, if you survive the games you continue to live
At first I wondered why she won but then realized that she knew the game was over when she couldn’t break Arisu in the illusion. I think their love impacted her so much that I wish they showed a flashback of her story to give it a better explanation for her actions.
They did a flashback. She was therapist who was sensitive to others emotions and when she joined the games she wanted to change that aspect of herself but the love that arisu and usagi showed her that's her true nature and she shouldn't abandon that part of herself
In the manga she wasn't impacted by the pair's actions though.
If you want a mini flashback of her, read chapter 52 of the manga. It shows her time before becoming a borderland citizen and her friends.
@@zerstorungdeslichts4706 how did she come in borderland???
I assume that at some point she was on the edge of death.
To be honest, she was one of my favorite characters, I almost feel bad for her dying, some sick, small twisted part of her cared for arisu and usagi, some part wants them to go home, as she is genuinely touched after seeing usagi and arisus love.
I know right, part of me said I didn’t want her to die. Even though she was bad.

my friends didn't like her and this game tbh. but i'm a fan of psychology that's why i know how terrifying she is. toying with someone's perception of reality can fvck their head big time (dissociation, existential crisis.) i was literally zoning out when mira was gaslighting arisu. i cried and tried to focus on the game. i almost hated her but the depth and complexity of her character is just so interesting.
Yep she’s a psychologist great in emotional/trauma manipulation and false memories .
The hells wrong with your friends man? This shit was crazy!

I do like that in the manga Mira has to hallucinate Alice with the help of drugs, but in the cinematic version, she executes it purely with her words. That emphasizes how great Mira is at reading people and manipulating one’s psychology.
I'm pretty sure she actually used drugs on them, hidden in the tea. I just don't get how even Usagi was bring into the illusion of the therapy room even tho Mira barely talked to her. So I think she used both mental manipulation or hypnosis AND drugs in the tea cups
@@Mailynn393 no one actually drank the tea in the live action, Usagi being in the hallucination is Arisu's POV, Mira being able to put Arisu into that state is scary to be honest even without the drugs
Japanese censorship☕
@@xeno_yoshikage Exactly
@@sablouie7955 Yeah but in the manga Mira used hypnosis and drugs to create a massive illusion overload or ultra realistic mental manipulation. In the series she tried to give Arisu some pills during his hallucination and my guess is she tried to make the illusion even more real to be sure to win her game
Bro the fact that this chick annoyed, creep and infuriates the hell out of me throughout the whole show, i still felt sad when she died. Like how the writers gave her such defined character development in just a hour or less was done perfectly, Mira was never a villain or any of the Kings and Queens, they were all put in borderland as a test for every players to beat. The actress did such a phenomenal job with the character and i definitely put Mira at my top 5 players (yes i still consider the Kings and Queens as players, cause they're also playing to survive)
Yeah Mira is not a villain, just a player playing the game.
To be honest, all of us citizens just continue these games without knowing the answer. And the possibility that the Borderlands is just your imagination still remains. But that's okay. After all, you stopped searching for the answer, right? Although, that in itself, "not seeking an answer" can be considered one of many possible answers. As a psychiatrist, my remuneration comes from saving a life. Seeing someone's life saved before my eyes makes me as happy as they are. But seeing someone finally able to leave the nest and ending up as the one left behind is a little sad. It's an unbearable and inherent dilenma. That's why I became a citizen to continue doing this. Arisu, life is a game. Enjoy it.
*- Mira from the manga*
what a dialogue, she’s my favorite face card in the game along with kuzuryu
People that are saying this game was bad or boring don’t understand the true meaning of the show and probably only watched for the action/ murders which is sad
Absolutely, its a show about existential questions and the will to live. The moral tool, the show provides for watcher, is to extract every joy possible. This show was a love letter to hedonism.
They probably expected Mira to use MMA fighting skills in her game 😂 Those same people probably didn't realize the final game of the hit show squid game didn't use violence. Just Gi-hun and Il-nam talking about their outlooks in life while making a bet. Then they will say it's a masterpiece.
They want his show to be Alice in “Spade”land.
Noticed this : how every player after being hit by the laser falls in a specific, almost poetic manner, she fell on her left side where the heart is in the body, and the scene right after showed the massive Queen of hearts banner, and players having to 'follow their hearts' to make a decision. Masterpiece.
From season one Mira definitely wasn't a character I was fond of or ever thought I could get emotional about . However knowing this game could only be cleared by her choosing to voluntarily participate in her own demise was moving to see. When starting round three you can see she’s genuinely happy for them.
I don’t think humans are “good” and “evil” I think she did a good job at showing that. Specifically her actress going from a slightly manic personality to highly empathetic and calm was brilliantly done. She’s the true queen of hearts with advice we all could live by.
She gave her word that she would play no matter what (in the manga at least). So as long as you were willing to continue playing croquet, she would comply.
I actually cried for mira I really thought that she was just not evil she just was trying to stay alive but was happy for them as well when they won.
The aesthetics of this scene is mind-blowing, accomplished by the music, the firework, the night, i m crying.
Then she got reincarnated as Madara in Naruto. Her genjutso on this episode was insane.
Such a Beautiful ending scene
I thought this episode was beautiful! Outstanding performance by all
The season 1 finale when Mira was revealed i was hyped and couldn’t wait to see what happens. The way her character was in season 2 was so beautiful. The ending when they managed to see through her tricks she just accepted and was happy. Moved by them.
Mira is a character that i never cared for in s1 and now by the end of s2 one of my favourites. The words were so beautiful
It's a shame they didn't include backstory scenes from Manga when she was still a player together with K♣️, K♦️, and K♠️.
I think it explained her motives really well.
If everyone decided to stay here are my guesses as to what card they would be.
Arisu - King of Clubs (as pointed by the Karube and Chota, Arisu never cleared anygame by himself, he was always a team player.)
Usagi- Queen of Club. Just like Arisu, she's a team player.
Chishiya - King of Diamond
Ann - Queen of Diamond, if she had survived. Rip.
Banda - Jack of Diamond
Aguni - King of Spades
Kuina - Queen of Spades
Niragi - Jack of Spades
Akane - Queen of Hearts (?) I mean she had this F U energy to her.
Ann survived tho? she was the one getting operated on
He's saying if they chose to stay in borderland. She died in borderland so she would not become a citizen
I think Arisu would be king of heart
Jack of Hearts would be that Yaba guy. Who teamed up with Banda.
Ngl, Akane being queen of hearts doesn't really fit as Hearts is about playing with people's hearts, more like spades considering her being able to survive the game that shooted water from the ground and destroyed the building. Usagi could also be queen of spades
She's the boss of the hardest game mode for a reason, never underestimate mind games and psychology + the massacre of the friends and causing betrayal and panick attack 👍
Mira, the character you despise end of season 1 but feel sad for her death end of season 2. What a character!
It's quite tragic knowing that her life before was a psychiatrist so basically helping/saving people right but the fact that she's in the borderland and her task being the actual opposite of her job before which is to manipulate people into killing themselves is quite sad imo and seeing her looks so innocent and genuinely playing the croquet actually got me :')
This is one of those parts that was much better than in the manga. Kudos to the actress.
The only game he lost was the one where he could survive even after losing, because he just had to hang in there long enough to fight and wake up from coma. That is why this last game's point was only to 'play', no death after losing because you'll end up winning anyways.
Kyuma, Kuzuryu, Shirabi, and Mira... All four gamemasters accepted their deaths willingly and with contentment.
The moment she realised that she cannot further hallucinate arishu and usagi and change of her heart, really touching scene
This actress is so damn talented! 👏👏👏
Yep definitely need some of the cast in American movies.
When the huge symbol of Queen Of Hearts shows up. I know it’s going to be Mira. She might be manipulative but she isn’t that bad compared to other masters of the games. The way she genuinely congratulate Arisu and admire their love for each other really touches my heart. No wonder she’s the queen of hearts.

In this series, you can appreciate stuff a lot, less appreciate other stuff, be dubitative, especially about how it ends, but you've got to give props to Mira's actress no matter what, stunning performance.
Every king, queen and jack (except for jack of hearts) in the games are ready to die. Granted their aim is to survive, but that's not the main goal. They accepted their defeats and understand it's their time to go. I also love that the fact they are citizens also shows they fully understand what it means to accept permanent residence in Borderland. That's the life they choose for themselves which also translates why they're ready to die in the game.
That's the difference between them and player. The players play to survive. They play to uphold everything that they have given, surrendered and accepted to be in Borderland.
her death was sad, I wish i knew her backstory
you could see it... she is a psychiatrist and neuroscientist in the real life, according to the manga
Really want to know why she choose lived in borderland
@@castastroph3217 she's a psychiatrist and are seeing patients with mental unstability. She can't help but sympathize with them. Riisa Naka is the best choice for Mira. She really portray her very well
Arisu was mind-boggled by this woman. Literally.
The soundtrack hits so hard
The fact that she could have kept the game going forever yet she ended it knowing she’s gonna die is so beautiful ❤️
True Queen Energy
She seemed content that the game she designed rekindled them with wisdom and resolve to continue living she already showed her indifference to her fate when she literally tried to have arisu kill her
Ths scene was so beautiful. No word can describe it
The only game where Arisu lost .... even if the goal was not to win but to be able to finish the 3 parties
This is the hardest game because she is in control of whether the game will end or not. She can easily destroy everyone if she wants but in the end, she chosen to play to save everyone. Then at the third round, i think arisu faked losing so he can motivate mira to keep playing to win.
Chishiya le hubiera ganado fácil 🥱
Mira was aware of this loophole so she promised Arisu that she would always play as long as he was willing to. She said that in the manga at least.
Love the actress and this scene which was shot genuinely beautifully. They did her character and the second season justice, it was perfect!!!!!
At first I was mad at Mira, I should be happy with her death but I feel sad with her. Beautiful scene !! Great series !!
I fell so sad after the last word and she died. Best scene forever
"Quit or forfeit the game" means committing suicide in real life. The simple fact that we are still alive deserves congratulation. It doesn't matter if you are "a winner" or "a loser".
i really liked this scene because on the first 2 games, both of are just on guard with each other. however in the last game, after their 'talk', you can clearly see that both of them are enjoying the game
The fireworks blasting around them reminds me of the scene in No Way Home where Doctor Strange erases Peter from everyone's memory.
The way she died, not just how pretty she died, the reason for her dead made me cry so bad. She really wanted arisu and usagi to return back to their own world even tho she knew they wouldn’t remember eachothers. I will always love her.
some may says, if ChisChiya who played on the last game, it would just be easy for him. ChisChiya would just embarrassed the Queen of hearts.
Here's the truth, You guys are overestimating ChisChiya. ChisChiya specialty is diamond. Yes, He is smart and observant. But Mira is THE manipulator. She could also play with his mind. Arisu and Usagi were easy targets as they are innocent and honest people, she would have probably used a completely different strategy with ChisChiya, who also has also traumas and a really dark past, the only difference with Arisu is the way he chooses to view life, a pessimistic view to be precise. Mira DECIDED to lose. She was not defeated, without Usagi help Arisu would have been die and if she really wanted to she could have kept messing around until it was too late for Usagi and Arisu would have accepted to save her. Mira is a very underrated character, one if not the most complex bosses in the series, followed by the king of spade and Kuzuryu(who was also not defeated) plus in Manga, Mira is one of the few survivors (in their era together with the King of Spade King of Club and King of the Diamond) who finished the game without fatal wounds or bruises. She probably outsmarted most of her games without getting hurt. Mira is not a Queen of hearts for nothing ❤️💅
Mira wouldn't let Chishiya win easily, like King of Diamonds. Lol, and maybe he would die easily because Mira knows every player misery
