I used to until I saw a guy get his knee destroyed attempting to avoid a takedown. After that I'll either start down or just let the guy get the takedown. I'm doing this shit for fun. I don't want some lifelong injury.
I understand guard pulling sometimes. If the guy im rolling with is some big ass guy whose been rolling for 2 weeks i am sitting my ass down and not getting my knee blown out
In jiujitsu with no striking being on bottom isn't always bad. A lot of people who are really good on the bottom prefer it. I sit with people whp are either way bigger than me or new and don't know how to wrestle
Why was everybody against staring on the feet 🤷♂️ all fights strat on the feet and if you cant get the guy down your bjj doesn't even help you 😂. Just seemed like an important thing to practice
My coach always says “every match starts standing up - takedowns are worth 2 points”
Guard pullers do not enter Valhalla!
this should deadass be a t-shirt
That would be a hard ass shirt
I like that!! Half the guys at my gym start on there bum and it’s annoying 😂
That's why Gordon Ryan will defeat all of them in no gi

Yeah but the point of starting from the feet is that you have to learn how to pull guard, you can't start down in a real match under most rules
Yessir!!

Seeing as a real street-fight would start on the feet that would potentially be a good place to start … 🙄
Okay I'm reading the comments but isn't that a given. People actually start a sparring sitting down 😮🤔😂

BJJ does have it's limitations.
I get it but.... there is a time and place for everything.

Why not wrestle instead of doing jiu jitsu
Stand up is part of bjj
because where tf can you learn wrestling as an adult in America?
@pilot.wav_theory do you look for places???? Ahahahah😅
@@samuelemeryjiujitsu i mean yeah, i would like to learn how to wrestle. Theres no place that teaches it in the USA aside from high schools
@@pilot.wav_theory- Thats bullshit. There is Wrestling schools everywhere. In many BJJ schools they have Wrestlers teaching Wrestling classes.
