      But the problem is, Bingley is incapable of standing up for himself. He left his girl because his friend told him to, I don’t think girls would like a man who can’t stand up for them and himself.

    • @Musicienne-DAB1995
      @Musicienne-DAB1995 Před rokem +24

      @@IssyFishyy Well, I don't think it's that simple. It was very difficult to persuade Charles Bingley to give up Jane Bennet until Mr. Darcy convinced him that Jane Bennet did not return his feelings. Even so, Mr. Darcy was never sure that Charles Bingley would not return to his former love should he see Jane in London. So he wasn't that ductile, and I think Elizabeth eventually gave him that credit once she discovered the whole affair. It's true that Charles Bingley was very suggestible, but his attachment to Jane was stronger than his professed caprice over, say, purchasing an estate.

      I would totally read that story. Maybe Bingley and Georgiana were the ones who initially met (because as we know Darcy doesn't initiate conversations) and then naive Bingley brings Darcy along for some event and Darcy actually ends up enjoying it in the way introverts do: perfectly content with Bingley being the center of attention and himself off to the side, viewing the event and Bingley checking in now and then to see he's doing alright. It's slow, but Darcy eventually realizes Bingley makes these events he's always expected to attend (due to his position) somewhat bearable.

      I’m not sure where, but I read somewhere that Darcy and Bingley met while they were studying at Cambridge.
      They became friends because they both respected each other and knew that they were both genuinely good people. Darcy was drawn to Bingley because he wanted someone to do the socializing for him while Bingley wanted someone intelligent to guide and counsel him, which is Darcy.
