From Bayer Leverkusen to Viktoria Plzen, HITC Sevens takes a look at a number of football / soccer teams from across the globe who could probably do with a larger stadium.
Ich denke die NRW Duelle und gegen die Bayern habt ihr das Stadion voll. Das gute daran ist, dass man nirgends sonst so leicht an CL Karten kommt wie bei euch.
@Jeffrey Jeffrey he is right you know. You can barely fill the stadium against the so called "Derby" yesterday against M'Gladbach. And as far as I know you are (at least in the top half of the Bundesliga) the only club that still has "Dauerkarten".
Unwanted Trashbag they’re all still in the premier league except blackburn qpr and Sheffield Wednesday who are in the championship there video doesn’t need to be done
Can't help but feel Luton Town have been overlooked here, 10,000 capacity in the Championship selling out every game and even when in the fifth tier we were close to selling out regularly getting 8000+
Adam R I don’t think Luton should be in any list apart from worst stadiums, not just the area is complete shit but you have to go through someone’s grim back garden just to get in the away end so happy not to be going there again for a while 😂
As a Bournemouth fan we definitely could have a much larger stadium, sold out pretty much every week for 5 years now so there's no shortage of demand. It's also a pretty larger catchment area, Bournemouth-Poole is the 16th largest urban area in the country and the nearest major club is Southampton which is 30 miles away. Also heading west the nearest league club is Exeter so that's a very large catchment area for potential fans.
@@user-mq3zv5qr7u according to the German Sports News "Kicker", there were about 15.410 spectators, which is roughly filling half the stadium. Where the bloody hell did you get These 26.000 from???
Doc Holliday sorry I though you mean the match in the Bundesliga sorry mate. Yes in the DFB Pokal our stadium attendance was very very bad and unnormal because the badest attendance this season was 26.200 Sorry again
@@user-mq3zv5qr7u still kind of sad though, referring to the original topic. Those German teams with high ambitions like Bayern, Dortmund, Schalke or Frankfurt regularly sell out their stadium (or they are RB Leipzig). Leverkusen does not need a bigger stadium at the moment, as long as they can't sell out the entire stadium for at least 90% of their home games. It would be insanely stupid from a financial point of view...
I really appreciate the crisp audio you normally produce, your desk is by no means bad but a bit echoed comparatively! Also loving these stadium videos so keep them coming!
When I went to Bayer Leverkusen last year against werder Bremen, they had hundreds of seats empty and most of the away fans were sitting in the home end
Tigres have always sold out their stadium too with a 42 thousand capacity historical stadium where the “wave” was introduced. Maybe a renovation of 10 thousand or 15 thousand would be good
Club Bruges' stadium has a capacity of around 28000 and almost all of those seats go to season ticket holders. A new more accessible stadium would likely see an attendance of around 40.000-45.000. Plans are in the works to that end, but getting the permits to start building is not that easy.
Certainly also the stadium of Club Brugge. After more than a decade, there may now be a new stadium with 40,000 seats and many fans will now finally be able to get a ticket.
Strangely enough, I think FC Bayern should be on here. The Allianz Arena is not exactly small, but it has been at 100% capacity pretty much every league game since it was opened. It was expanded twice already an now holds 75.000 for domestic competitions, but afaik the last Bundesliga home match for FCB that wasn't sold out was back in 2007.
I used to watch Leverkusen back in the 1980s while in Germany and it was amazing watching their stadium go from something not unlike Plough Lane to something like White Hart Lane over the course of around 2 years
Dons fan here, many thanks for the mention! We're technically going to be just down the road from the old site and not on old Plough Lane, because that got sold off and a housing development was built there instead. We're going to be based where Wimbledon Stadium was, which was used for dog racing. Everything else spot on though. We're also crowd-funding to help build the stadium, as we're fan-owned, which is worth a mention!
AFC Wimbledon's new stadium is on Plough Lane but isn't on the site of their old ground. It's on the site of the former Wimbledon Stadium that hosted Speedway and Greyhound Racing.
Borussia Dortmund should be on this list. Averaging 80,000 from the 81,365 capacity over the last 6 seasons is a clear stat showing that the club can afford at least in spectator numbers that can be in a larger capacity stadium. (i may be incorrect for this) However I also remember ready this stat in the newspaper around June 2019, didn't Borussia Dortmund have to cut ~8,000 members as they did not go to 50% of the previous season games, so they could make room for new members on waiting lists. A 100,000 seater stadium would be more sufficient for the club and fans, and also future proofing the stadium capacity with room to expand in the future, if it was required.
As a Czech guy, I can tell you, that Viktoria Plzeň don´t need bigger stadium. Their stadium is sold out only, when they play against Slavia or Sparta or in CL/EL. Just another village club, who was brought on top because of tight connection between their owner and the head of Czech FA.
Compared to other big successful clubs in Germany Leverkusen has a smaller fan base as it is not considered as a "Traditionsverein". This traditional clubs attract fans from a large area. But the fan base of Bayer Leverkusen is limited to a smaller region. So their stadium is not too small.
Wimbledon fan here. The stadium will not be on exactly the same site, but just to the east of River Wandle instead of just to the west. The old site is now occupied by a housing complex and there's a marker on the street corner. Possibly interesting side note- Kingsmeadow is now owned by Chelsea and the Chelsea women's team plays there.
If we can keep up our current (past 3 years) form then Molineux should be on here too, sold out most league and European games home and away since Nuno took over and currently operate a temporary additional stand in one corner of the ground.
Although you might be right about a few european games, Viktoria Plzen really doesn’t need a larger stadium, average attendance in czech league is way below 10.000 people, Plzen’s population is roughly 175k people. Even two biggest clubs in Prague (Sparta and Slavia) rarely sell out their games with 20k stadiums - with a population about 1,3 million.
Could have added Feyenoord Rotterdam (Netherlands) they have a 51,000 seater stadium but are often sold out, there are however plans to build a new very expensive stadium.
I'm surprised that Lincoln City's isn't on this list because we get an average of 8000 to 9000 people turning up to the league game (in league one) in a 10000 capacity Stadium with over 6000 season ticket holders. Side note: I don't want Lincoln to leave Sincil Bank I just want them to have a ground extension.
Leeds United surely needs to be mentioned , they’ve sold out every game for over a year now and it can be very hard to get tickets with 25,000 season ticket holders and thousands more on a waiting list . They even get 30,000 at cup games
The New Plough Lane does NOT occupy the site of the original ground. It occupies the site of the old Wimbledon Dog Track which is just about 100 yards from the old ground which is now housing
Brighton’s AMEX stadium should be on here. Sold out most games. Very high percentages of occupied seats (even when they were in the Championship) and a 7,000 waiting list for new season ticket holders.
You got a lot of reverb, maybe installing some acoustic panels around you will help dampen the sound. Honestly I used to record in my closet with clothing around me and it’s literally worked wonders for a professional sound.
PSG? Parc des Princes is a reasonable size, but I wouldn't be surprised if their owners wanted a 70, 000+ size stadium, given their ambitions. I don't know much about their current attendances...but as the only big club in Paris the potential is surely there. Agree with Bournemouth and Chelsea...plus maybe Watford?
Bournemouth was first on my mind but think Crystal Palace would fill a lot more seats if available. Bit surprised with Juve, they downsized as they would only fill 60% afterall.
Santos FC. Their stadium currently has only a 16k capacity, 4k of which are private seats, which drags down their average attendance even further (they usually finish bottom 5 in attendance simply because of that, even currently when they are 3rd in the standings).
The problem with Leverkussen is that they’re stadium of 30k right now is barely sold out because they don’t have a large fanbase. If you make the stadium bigger you will get the same effect like in napoli stadium where one allot of parts of the stadium will be empty and it costs too much money with less fans
they tried but they faced financial problems and have been not able to complete their new stadium. actually in valencia there is an almost done new stadium waiting for investments.
Norwich should definitely be in this. Been selling out for 15 years, no matter what league we've been in, with some of the most expensive match and season tickets in England and last time I saw there was a season ticket waiting list of 8000.
Not to mention we've averaged over 90% attendance in every season for as long as I can remember. Even in League 1 in 2009/10 we averaged 90.6% while the second highest average in that league was 66%. We may be out of the way compared to the rest of the country but that means we attract a hell of a lot of people based on the lack of attention from other clubs in the immediate vicinity. #otbc

Manchester United should be in there. They are always full even in testimonial games even in a sour patch in the clubs history. They would sell out a 100000 stadium every week with ease
Leverkusen is a small city where even the players don't spend much time there and go to nearby bigger cities like Dusseldorf or Cologne so that's why they have a smaller fan base compared to other good clubs from big cities.
As a Leverkusen fan, I have to disagree. Our average attendance through the last years was about 28.000 and we are rarely sold out
