  • The final segment of the Mines of Moria scene. Gandalf faces the Balrog as the Fellowship flees. Conductor Ludwig Wicki did a fantastic job leading The Munich Symphony, Pacific Chorale, vocal soloist Kaitlyn Lusk, and the Phoenix Boys Choir in a full symphonic performance of Howard Shore's score for The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring. This performance was on 10/23/2011 at the Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento, California.

Adam Oberembt are you kidding me? The hobbit trilogy was an entire money grab by Hollywood. The book is only about 300 pages, which is shorter then the lotr books. They didn't have enough material to work to stretch it to 3 movies, which is why they were so awful and cgi filled compared to the lotr movies. Peter jackson only wanted to do one movie but some other higher up people felt it was a good opportunity to make more money. I watch the original lotr movies all the time, but I've never went back and watched the hobbits since the theater.

This scene is not only one of the best in the film, but also in the best film trilogy ever. The moment when Boromir says "Give them a moment for pity's sake!" is the reason why the first film is my favorite. Boromir shows himself as the most human of them all. He who feels more then thinks, and is flawed more than he cares to admit, easily corrupted into take the "easy way out" cause being brave against overwhelming odds feels hopeless. The most beautiful and most human comes then in the ending when he also still keeps fighting those odds to protect the fellowship he has just failed. Such a masterpiece in every way. Wow! Definitely was pleasantly surprised to see the amount of awesome feedback on my footage. It was one of the most amazing experiences I have had and the purpose of this video is my attempt at sharing it with everyone! I think I read somewhere in the comments that people wished I had filmed the screen more at certain parts. To you guys I just have to say I paid for the ticket and travelled 100 miles to see the musicians perform this score and that was my priority so sorry :)

From the writing of the book, to screenplay adaption, to cinematography, to set design, to character design, to visual effects, to acting, to writing the music, musical performance, and so on. So many skilled, talented people have to come together to create a movie like this.

Movie (and my favorite of all time at that) WITH Live Symphony?! 😯 How did I not ever know this was even a thing that existed until now??? 🤯 I usually never use this phrase but literally just take all my money. Seriously though how often do they do this and how can I get a ticket? P.S. and that girl???? THAT BEAUTIFUL girl with the voice of an absolute ANGEL?! My goodness!!! I’m awe-struck. I mean what can I say? I’m left completely speechless by her haunting yet angelic voice that pierces right through my very soul. Wow what an absolute gift she has. And I love the emotion she not only conveys through her voice, but also just the look on her face while she’s singing really drives it home even more...the sense of despair...and you can really tell she is feeling the music and connecting to the story as she sings and just really letting that empathy and sympathy for the characters guide her voice so that the audience can therefore also feel it and relate to it even more strongly that way and it makes it hit that much harder when you see the expression she has on her face while singing. She must not be a stranger to the loss of a loved one (or ones) if I had to guess, just based off this performance/video. Incredible. Absolutely brilliant and magnificent and beautiful. Great, very great job to all involved and thanks to the uploader of the video as well!

When Aragorn and Frodo jumped over the falling staircase to ''safety'' a triumphant melody is being played, immediately you know what's coming: the most intense moment of the whole sequence. At 4:10 the intensity starts rising exponencially once again from silence, you know that Gandalf is going to have to face this demon all by himself. The entire orchestra is playing at maximum power; the strings, the percussion, the brass instruments are going all out and the chanting elevates the moment even further for the final showdown. The epicness is beyond belief.
Impossible not to get teary, especially when the lady starts singing at around 6:42. The emotional rollercoaster is too much to handle if you are fully invested and the body gives in. This experience live must be simply undescribable.

When Gandalf slipped into the void, the girl screamed "GANDALF NOOOO!" and she began to cry. With tears welling in my own eyes I thought, "Will we ever see the like of this kind of film again? This masterpiece of a generation?" That my friends, is the powerful combination of books, music and cinema. And if there was ever a soundtrack for the world at this moment in time, "The Death of Gandalf" would be the music I would pick. The world sorely needs its heroes now.
