Love Living Here, Never Going back To Illinois Great Video
@@angelabush9766 I'm from Illinois Northern Illinois "the Stateline" and still live here. I used to hate living here when I was growing up, but after college it wasn't so bad. I would love to be able to live in a warm climate during the winter and early spring. I'm thinking of buying a second home somewhere warm all year round
Question, so do you have to live in NV for a full year in order for the no state income 🤔 tax to take effect? How does that work? I'm looking to move there in 2024. So would I not get the full benefit of No state income taxe until 2025?
I would love to move to vegas.
@@armandocorral7856 No. Whatever income you make in NV is not taxable, whether you work one week out of the year or the entire year. If you worked in another state for part of the year, you'd only pay income tax on those earnings.
Ruby, I'm a part time Vegas resident. I bought a house here with intention to rent it out. In the first 2 weeks after taking over the house, I went shopping and get the house ready for rent. While doing that around the neighborhood, I felt in love with it and decided to keep it to myself so I could occasionally escape the life in Orange County in California. It has been 2 years and I still love it.
What is the best location if moving from LA. Appreciate the advice
Bet any place is better to live than in California especially if you work for an employer. 10-13% State Income Tax.
@@jademartinez8143 I bought mine in Mountain Edge area. Less expensive than Summerlin and Henderson but still have the small town feel, quiet nice neighborhood and close to Red Rock Canyon.
I love this story! It’s spontaneously great ☺️💕
You are a parasite that contributes to the problem of housing shortages and increasing rents. Stay in CA.
The one thing people ALWAYS forget to mention is the lack of high level medical care. They have a trauma center, yes, but very limited cardiac and neurological care, so you’ll be transported out of state for those. And although you may like the weather, the heat is pretty intense during the long summers.
We’ve lived here 30 years. The medical and doctors here are not good nor do they stay longer than several months before they depart. Californians have not helped things here, being a former CA person it’s not a compliment. Being retired we do look at all costs, new people lack of friendliness, and poor medical care….. currently the Las Vegas/Henderson NV area totally sucks.
Thank you! Good to know that.
@@tanyaangelis5248 just in case I didn’t mention: my husband has been here since mid 80’s and I’ve been here since 2002…it just has changed a lot. This lady doing this CZcams video is sharing what The Strip & Vegas used to be but since 2019 thing are so not nice at all and The Strip is all ripped apart… enjoy learning about this place.
The medical anything sucks I’m sorry but it just does! 😒
@@mayberryfiya3528 don’t be sorry, because you are completely right and correct.
I've been here for 12 years now and this video is, by far, the most accurate description on how it is to live here. Great job!
I agree. I think even her pros and cons were on point.
Agreed! 🙂👍
When we made the decision to leave Vermont, mainly because the taxes were so overwhelming we also decided that Las Vegas could work for us, but after doing a lot of research we decided Las Vegas was to pricey and to congested, so we ended moving to Pahrump, Nevada which is 45 minutes west of Las Vegas. This town has everything you need, the housing market is 50% lower then the Las Vegas market. We ended up buying 20 acres of property that already had a well and septic system installed. We had a modest 2 bedroom , 2 bath house built for under $100,000 and we carry no mortgage on it. The property taxes are 0.5%. Me and my wife are retired from the military and now are independent computer system analyst for a defense contractor from Las Vegas. We work from home, pretty much the same jobs we did in the military but making 4 times the money.....
Please vote accordingly.
I bought fireworks in pahrump 😊cool little town
you really trying to sell us the idea of pahrump right now lmao
@MyLife Cat houses can’t be in the city of Vegas, but are all over the state😎
Pahrum old people good for married that don't want to do anything except save money. awful life. How anyone could leave the Green mountains and Lake Champlain is mind boggling. vermont has best quality of life second only to Mew Haqmpshire. Taxes pay for that
Thank you for not leaving your cat behind when you moved so far away. I'll never understand people who do that.
She’s literally our child i could never! My mom would’ve loved to keep here tho 😂
We moved to Vegas almost 8 years ago from Chicagoland. We had a St. Bernard then, and someone asked us what we were going to do with our dog, like we weren't going to bring him with us. I was shocked someone would ask that. I guess he would not have. Our Saint was part of the family.
Good lord!!’ People who do that shouldn’t have them. I’d sleep in my car before I ‘leave my pet’ behind
Wow! People do that?! That’s insane! 😢
Who leaves their cat behinds? They’re part of the family
Great video Ruby! FYI - Terribles used to be called Terrible Herbst. Owned by Edward R. Herbst, who was credited with becoming "the P.T. Barnum of gasoline" by engaging in unusual marketing strategies, undercutting the competition with low prices, and pioneering the convenience store model. According to his son, Jerry, each time the elder Herbst would open a new gas station, competitors would bemoan the move: "Here comes that terrible Herbst", inspiring the chain's nickname.
Didn’t he used to own Terribles hotel & casino over on Paradise aswell which used to be Continental before and now the Silver Sevens. They used to do a pretty good cheap buffet breakfast there with a cook to order waffle station. Never stayed there whilst it was Terribles but was there for a couple of nights back in 1988 when it was the Continental
@@50kevindWow someone remembers the Continental hotel, my brother work there for a short time early 80’s. Now there’s a Terrible’s about 20 miles out, in Jean NV is a Terrible’s that was once the Gold Strike, in fact across the 15 Hwy there use to be another place called Nevada Landing that opened in 89 and closed in 07, it was demolished I believe couple years ago. Terrible’s closed down during the pandemic and now looks like it was sold and too will be demolished.
@@jeffreyferguson83 shows how old I am lol 🤣 those were the days when buffets were really cheap and the phrase resort fee had not even been thought of
Henderson used to have Terrible's Town, a mini casino and bowling center on Boulder Highway. It closed down many years back.
When I ran to California every week, my go parking spot was Terribles in Jean. Can always find parking there in a big truck.
Forget parking in Primm. That truck stop fills up, & is a shithole. The Starbucks inside seems to never be open as well.
Fun video! I am from Wisconsin. I hate the winter, snow, cold, ice, sliding around the unplowed streets and salt ruining the shrubs! I haven’t been to Vegas in 27 years. It’s all so different and your videos keep me intrigued.
We moved here from Wisconsin in 2002. My husband is from there. Welcome! When people say vegas is too hot my husband always say “i dont have to shovel heat” when summer comes it feels long and unbearable at times but the rest of the year is pretty great. This past winter was colder than normal. Good luck!
I can totally relate. After living in NYC for 20+ years then moving to Henderson it was such a big change, but I love it.
My girlfriend and I moved to Vegas a year ago and we love it. Ended up settling down in Southern Highlands, and enjoy the chill atmosphere.
I lived in vegas from 97 thru 2001...i was aged 19 to 23 years old. Just gotta say those were the happiest funnest times of my life. Really miss the time i had out there when i was younger
It was fun then! Remember Rum Jungle lol
I live in Salt Lake City so it’s about 6 hours from Vegas. However I come to Vegas about twice a year and I’ve considered moving there multiple times. I think it’s beautiful and the locals are SO nice! We went to a target in summerlin my last trip out there and people there were so friendly!
Utah has no casinos or alcohol banners ,
utah idea of fun is loading up the 12 kids and going to temple in their local ward and listening to the bishop talk about Smiths spaceship vision in upstate New York. The state is filled therefore with the gullible and the clinically insane
I live in summerlin also and you are right, I lived in Orange County for forty years, and moved here ten years ago, and found parsdise. The lack of taffic and great roads are so nice after being stuck in traffic for hours in Cali..
As someone who lives in the area as well, the mountains are really what do it for me. Depending on the time of the day the lighting is breathtaking from any angle.
I don't live in America but I love that going from state to state is like visiting different countries here in Europe (Ireland). Love your channel.
I'm a dublin man who lived in America for 10 years. I couldn't wait to leave. Nothing is like Ireland. Down In waterford at the min. There really is no place like home.

Hello, I left Las Vegas after almost 20 years of living there. I loved it there and I moved back 18 months ago to Southern California where I lived for 30 yrs before I retired.
There is nothing bad to say about Vegas. Unless we live in the area that is in the North part. I left and I missed it, but I have reasons that I had to let it go. I still drive back but I sold all of my properties and left after my son died by suicide, there is nothing that can keep me there. I owned many mansions there and I was really happy there until that untimely event. I am back living closer to relatives here. I had 20 great years! I get comps because I am and have been the seven stars level, I paid nothing for 40 yrs + and I got the best penthouse they offer, but the casinos do not give you things for free, you earned the comps and cruises etc. Which means you play a lot, they comp you a lot. Losing or winning is just the games and timing. Good luck to you. I now live about 6 minutes from the nearest casino and Harrah's is about 25 minutes away. I don't gamble here in the Indian tribe casinos, they never paid much. You are young, you will love it in Vegas. Your CZcams channel will do very well because you have access to all the largest and nicest casinos. We used to play off the strips and we won every night. We hit the floors after all the tourists left. We won and went home. Even though we have the room always comped. That is the only way you control your gambling. You cannot play like NG, the Big Jackpot etc. You come back later, you still can play every day for 6-8 hours but you don't bet $250.00 a spin for that long. We played at Red Rocks and Palms and we had fun there. Good luck! Glad you like Vegas, I did!!!
I never comment but I had to on this one. I love the vid! I would def like to see u do more local videos of the surrounding areas. Great content sis! Keep it up 💙
We did almost the same move last April. We moved from Minneapolis with two cars and a pull behind trailer. We are loving it so far. We ended up buying a house in North Las Vegas in January. No regrets so far!
You don’t miss the snow? lol jk
muhahahahaaaaa
Being on time was the biggest difference I noticed when I moved from DC to Vegas. I was always on time! My husband however has been at his job in Vegas for 20 years and has never been on time a single day 😅
Very helpful and informative video. Thank you so much for all the hard work that you do to bring people such beneficial videos.❤
Hi Ruby welcome to Las Vegas! I am originally from L.A. I lived in Minneapolis for twenty years. I moved to Las Vegas in 2012. I am now retired and I love living here. It has changed quite drastically, the traffic can be a challenge. I met my husband here and we live in the Southwest valley, @ Mountains Edge. This area is booming! We are seeing a growing of many Asian restaurants opening on Rainbow Blvd 🌈 and Blue Diamond Road, very near to us, some say it’s the new China town. Of course we have our favorites on Spring Mountain. Love your videos. Many blessings to you and your husband. ❤
Thanks Ruby. This was a great and informative video. Myself and my wife have been vacationing to Vegas from UK for nearly 20 years and have friends who live in Summerlin. It would be our dream to move there one day.
Would love more videos of this nature. Hope you’re new life in Vegas continues to bring you both happiness 🙏
Hey - I'm so proud of you guys! Early early subscriber here, it's been great watching you and your channel grow -- especially remembering your early content (it was always good) -- you two are naturals at this. OWN it - 1 million subs in 2 years me thinks.
Loving all of your videos. Going to be visiting Vegas for the first time this July. So excited. Thank you for all the great and valuable information ❤ Hi Kiki! 🐈⬛
I lived in Henderson back in 2006 when I was doing my medical rotations. Despite enjoying the experience of LV I never got used to the incessant desert heat. Bad enough being over 100 in the daytime but still high 90's in the middle of the night at times. The AC seemed to be on all the time. Ended up in northern CA and the weather is almost perfect here.
Feel like central coast + northern CA has the best weather definitely - Goldilocks point.
It is refreshing to watch a video that is positive and honest. So many youtubers think they have to be negative and trash everything and everyone around them. Your video was refreshing and I hope you and your family find peace and happiness.
CZcamsrs that are negative about living in Vegas are telling the truth
@@funtimeswithfefe242 I agree. I was not impressed with Vegas when I went there in March to see a NIT BB championship. Outside the strip I guess there are other things to see but I didn't have a car.
Very informative video..your knowledge of Vegas weighing out the pros and cons is very helpful.
It was very interesting seeing Las Vegas and the west coast through your eyes. I lived in Las Vegas for 25 years but I really enjoyed revisiting the city through new eyes.
I watch a lot of your videos on CZcams, and I didn't realize that I hadn't subscribed to your channel. This video was so informative and you covered all the basis so well. Thanks for sharing such useful information.
As a born and bred midwesterner from St. Louis who spent 25 years in Denver and Vegas for seven years now...SO HAPPY TO HAVE YOU AND MR. RUBY! Centennial Hills here and I can't wait to see your content as a local.
Also a lifelong midwesterner who has now spent 2 years in Southern California. I’m ready to head to either Denver or Las Vegas. Which would you recommend?
My sister has lived in Vegas for almost 30 years. She only goes to the Strip if they are seeing a show or friends are in town. There are so many local restaurants that she has shown us or told me about that are fabulous and not too far away for tourists if they want to venture out.
Great video, Ruby! I learned a lot about the little details of living -driving, groceries…big surprise on the registration fees! Thank you for making this video.
I have lived in Vegas my whole life. I think its great the over million people who have moved here the past 4-5 years. Property costs and crime are at an all time low. Thanks everyone for moving here.
Love your videos. Between Jacob's Life and your videos plus all my trips out there, it makes it harder and harder to leave every time I go. Please keep them coming.

I love living here especially now since things are heating up. I love our hot dry summers even though it gets super hot I still love them. Glad to see y’all are doing well.
I love y’all hot dry summers too 😂😂. When I was out there I was thinking dang if I was back in Indiana and it was this same degrees, you wouldn’t be able to comfortably be outside. It gets so humid that you can hardly breathe, it’s terrible I hate it
I Luv all your content. Thank you for taking the time!
This was an enjoyable watch! A friend of mine lived in Vegas for the better part of a decade. I loved visiting and doing local stuff as well as touristy stuff.
As a tourist in Las Vegas I found the bus service to be a significant bargain for getting around. I took advantage of the 3-day pass and after learning a few of the routes I could get anywhere with minimum hassle.
Agreed about the buses in Vegas. Especially the strip. Most people don't notice, that bus comes ever 30 minutes, and get up and down the strip for cheap and easy.
yeah, assuming they are on schedule
I live here and anytime we want to go to the strip we park at the park and ride by our house and take the bus. 5 bucks for 24 hours is cheaper than any parking.
I was in Vegas for the first time to see the NIT BB finals and used the buses. Does Vegas attract a lot of homeless people because I took a local bus from a UNLV campus to the Orleans hotel and there was this homeless guy sleeping on the side walk and he never woke up even as traffic was going by.
@@alextijerina1284 That area does have a lot of homeless. We rank 14th in the Nation for homelessness. About 39,000 homeless residents.
Would love a part 2, for us tourists. 😊
What would you like to see her cover for tourist? Just curious because I feel like her entire channel is for tourists.
This answered a lot of questions I had about living in Vegas - thank you very much! 👍
Thanks for the info it was great to see someone else's perspective moving out there from another state
Hi Ruby, my wife & I share much of your experience moving to LV. We drove out in 2019 from North Carolina and have been having a great time.
Love your content Ruby! I lived in Vegas for 40 yrs and have lived in Denver for the past four. It’s always fun to talk to the locals that grew up there. When I had to work there definitely took longer in the morning commute hrs and the evening commute. I don’t miss the summer there at all.. I came to visit in July and was struggling 😂 but you can bake some cookies in your car 😅!!!
Terrific video and glad you are enjoying you new location.
As someone who lives in Seattle, I enjoy walking and taking public
Transportation. I find Las Vegas really lacks in that respect but I do enjoy visiting here.
And yes, those desert mountains are so beautiful - esp when they have snow on them like
A lot of this past year.
Thanks for video, really appreciated it. HOPE you all have a great day 😊
Thank you so much for this! My family doesn’t understand why my husband and I want to relocate to Vegas as soon as the housing market gets a little better. It’s that west coast vibe, the mountains, local stores, everything you covered validates exactly what we feel every time we are there! We’ve always air bnb’d in neighborhoods to really have the local experience rather than the tourist experience and loved every minute of it! Congratulations on the courage to pack up and start fresh! 😊
better? It is only going to go up. Right now rates are higher so homes are a little cheaper but the payments are not. WAY different living here than visiting though
Please don't this video was from a new comers perspective. Everything is shinny when new. I grew up here and 90% of her pros are incorrect.
@@yourDASHcruiseandtravel05 How about the cost of water for your lawn, it must be expensive.
@@alextijerina1284 hard to believe but our water bill is cheaper here than in Ohio. Car insurance and registration is the biggest difference
I've been so curious about what living in Vegas has been like for you. It's so beautiful, I had no idea! So glad you are enjoying it. As a Canadian, I know I would not miss winter either lol.
It was once very easy to live there. Today you have high crime, homeless people everywhere. The cost of renting or buying is triple from 3, years ago. Unfortunately it’s not worth it anymore, there’s no value like it once had. The sunny days are great but again it’s a desert. The cost of living, utilities, groceries, will skyrocket again so I recommend a coast line where farms are plenty. You have no idea what hardships are near especially in that city.
The hardships will come as water becomes more scarce and the $500 monthly water bills start showing up in people’s mailboxes.
Nice video, Ruby. I lived in Las Vegas 1994-2001, and loved it. Summerlin is certainly beautiful. Wishing you much happiness there.
omg i had no idea you moved!! but it makes sense you made so much content there and were flying there so often omg so excited.
Moved here to Vegas from northern California in 2008 been here since. It wasn't as expensive as it is now. Vegas definitely has some charm and the proximity to the mountains and nature are an interesting contrast to the casinos and lights. So much to do here. Enjoy!
This is all super accurate! We’re originally from TX but moved to Vegas 2 years ago from North Dakota (military) and let me tell you in the summers I miss the cold 😭😭
😂😂😂
Thank you for sharing this! This really helps seeing the difference to living there to just visiting there once a year!
You are great with your videos. Very informative ❤
I understand the difference in the move. My wife and I moved from metro Detroit to the Seattle area. Coming from the midwest to the west coast, definitely some culture shock! We’ve been here 13 years and have not looked back. Congrats on making the big move!
Who wants to live in Detroit? Although Seattle has it's fair share of problems too!
@@jmsfabrication7821 it’s great to visit. But, I couldn’t live in that weather of Michigan. Western Washington is more my speed. As for Seattle proper, I don’t go there that often. I’m out in the suburbs. Love it there. But yes, Seattle has it problems… just like every big city in the world.
@Trevor’s Flat, Round & Spun-Vinyl Community An old buddy of mine also moved out there from here (Detroit area), quite a while back. He must like it because he's been there quite a while. He tells me he also lives a ways outside Seattle, so maybe he doesn't deal with the crime, garbage, and homelessness too much. Of course (like we both said), it exists here too.
as somebody who moved to phoenix 7 years ago you should really do another one of these after spending a full summer....its one thing to visit during the summer but day after day of non stop heat over 4 months really gets to you.
I was going to say the same thing. I have lived in Phoenix for 20 years. Originally from the Midwest. That first summer was shocking. Like I had moved to a blast furnace. It will be interesting to see if she still feels the same when she has 100 degree weather in September. I have known lots of people here who decide to move away after a few years. They can’t take the heat.
Mr. and Mrs. Ruby have been fighting Wisconsin winters, where your entire existence turns into a frozen sub zero igloo, from November to March. Cars won't start. Pipes freeze. So much snow that you have to shovel...your ROOF. Cold that is so severe, that exposed skin will get frost bite in about 30 seconds. The ground is frozen so hard that it resembles cement. Nah, they'll enjoy the summer heat. Trust me. Even on Vegas' hottest days, you can still go outside and enjoy the evening at night. Winters in Milwaukee? You can't even go outside and enjoy yourself when there isn't a cloud in the sky and the sun is shining.
@@zman6513it’s a 100 degrees at 2:00 in the morning 😁
I was raised in Vegas and after 20yrs moved to Seattle. I decide to move back to Vegas in 2021 and lasted a year before moving back to Seattle. The heat is unbearable even with AC…you can’t go anywhere outside so basically you are stuck inside places for months…My past day in Vegas was literally 117F and I felt I was going to end up passing out. There is her and then there’s desert heat.

If you don't want to be homeless you'll quickly learn to do it in very strict moderation.
It is said that most people who move here at some point end up losing an entire paycheck or two before they learn their lesson, (if they're smart that is, they'll learn).
That's the only advice anybody can give to someone regarding gambling. Imagine what it would be like for you to be homeless. It doesn't matter how much money you have, this town was built on taking it, add that's the one thing that hasn't changed here.
Be strict with yourself and you'll be okay.
I love your vlogs! You're now in Vegas, I'm looking forward to an expanded view of Vegas and the surrounding areas! Ever thought about making the drive to Reno?
Im sure well go to reno eventually!
Welcome to Vegas! The heat is coming, along with nice big electric bills for your AC. Also, take a drive down the 215 towards I-15 around 8:30 AM, you'll find the rush hour traffic. Again, welcome to the neighborhood.
I feel like the people who like the 100 degree weather tend to not blast their a.c. at the slightest hint of heat.
VERY SOLID CONTENT !! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO !!

I'm originally from Wisconsin too, moved to Arizona 16 years ago and now looking to relocate to Vegas. Love your channel! And people used to tell me all the time that I would hate the heat too, but nope! Lol, so much better than that bitter cold!
being an original New Yorker, what people don't understand is the heat in the west is a dry heat....you can get temps in the 90's or low100'3 and it is hot, hot, hot, but when the sun goes down, its still warm but very comfortable...no stickiness....no feeling like you need to shower every hour....nothing like a warm desert evening.....no humidity is a blessing.
@@leelaural I completely agree! I am from
NC and the Vegas heat is so different. I much prefer it to NC.
I have always enjoyed watching you because not only are you honest, you talk about things that not everyone talks about. I would expect "living in LV" videos to almost be more tourist-oriented, like what you'll see for a brief trip, highlighting a lot of things people already know - it's less expensive off strip, it's hot in the summer, gas prices are high. Like and subscribe! You go further and talk about things that people actually want to know about, things they will understand with context from where they themselves live - speed traps! State taxes! Insurance! It's like talking to a friend after they moved out there, an honest and up-front chat where you learn something. I've always loved how peaceful that desert makes me feel and wondered what it would be like to just live out there, and this video was super interesting and helpful!
Wish you guys continued and growing success, I'll be watching your videos with envy when those first cold fronts come in here in Madison. Hope to catch you guys for a quick hello next time we come out!
Nice Videos ! You guys are in the Best area, you chose wisely.....Thanks for talking positive about our city....👍
Great videos Ruby, you really are a talent at this stuff, I never pass up your videos!
Hi Ruby, I'm from Chicago. The traffic was busier on the strip when I was there. Then the freeways. I thought about moving there recently. But I opted for Ft. Lauderdale. I love the water! Thanks for the video!!!
OMG 😩 so you couldn’t pick me up in Indiana on your way out. 😂😂 just kidding, but you moved where I want to live.
@ambermcfadden3520 Hi, yes, actually I'm from Chicago. But own a house in Indiana that I'm selling.
Just moved here last year from Chicago myself. Everything you said about how you feel about LV and the strip is the same for me. I still love it but it’s different. I definitely love downtown more than the strip but the parking sucks, I just get someone to drop me off there because I live close.
But once you have been to every part of the valley as I have (I drive for a living so I have) you see that there are SO many wonderful neighborhoods that aren’t Summerlin. There is a neighborhood near the arts district that is all redone art deco that is suuuper cute. The eastern side all the way up the mountain east of Hollywood Blvd is really nice and not cookie cutter homes.
I know you said you like the heat, having it be 115 for weeks gets a little rough though. 😂
It nice to get a person from the mid west talk about their experience in Las Vagas. Back in the 80's I to was thinking to move out there and go to dealer school to work in the casinos. Best the luck to the both of you, and keep up the good work.
I used to live in Green Valley ... tbh I kinda miss it because I live in a really, really small town now. Your video brought back some memories so thanks! Have a good one!!
Great video. I used to live in Las Vegas and was not at all happy about 117 degrees for days in a row. The winters are mild, though.
That was helpful 😊 thank you. We are in Wyoming and looking around for something better 😊! Like you we would love a warmer climate!
Awesome video thank you for the information thinking about relocating there from Phoenix, Arizona
As a Las Vegas local this is all accurate. We moved here in February for my husband’s job. I have been wondering what area you guys were in and my guess was Summerlin. 😂 The one west coast thing I cannot get used to is how slow people cross the street.
Vegas is south west
@@lifesabeach5405 I wasn’t talking about geography but a mentality. 🤷🏻♀️ 🙄
Just because you see a lot of sand does not make you on the West Coast. Southwest desert is where you are at.
@@lifesabeach5405its the west coast man. Most people think of the country as west coast, midwest and east coast

I lived in the Palm Springs area for a good part of my life and when I visited Vegas last year, I was surprised to see how insanely similar the Palm Springs area and the residential area of Vegas are!
Yes they are. Palm Springs does have much warmer winters but Vegas is much more fun.
Quite different culturally. PS is full of do-gooder Care Bears, while Vegas is more politically balanced.
@@r.plante2916 Do-gooder Care Bears? What's wrong with doing good?
@@nbroverman because you can't be nice to black folks or queers ... it's in the bible.
Yeah... Both are desert and really hot in the summer...
Great lighting! Enjoyed the video 😊
Really good and informative video…thank you!
10:27 The date for this video is 4/11/2023. We'll see how you feel in six weeks. It's not a day or two at 100+. It's an *average* temperature of 100+ degrees for about 14 - 16 weeks! When those 110s start hitting in July and August, we'll see.
When it's cold, you can put on more clothes. When it's hot, you can't take off your skin.
Two years ago I drove about 2500 miles to move here myself, and yes, that CO highway route past Vail (IIRC) is terrifying with 18-wheelers and winds if you're anywhere near winter! EDIT to add about driving here: Be prepared, whether you're visiting or living here - The traffic lights are so long that you can reliably expect every red light to be followed by 1 to 3 cars just blowing through the red, so watch for that when your light turns green if you're first in line.
I am shocked about how many people just do not stop for the reds! It’s insane. I’m used to cops speed checking and red light cameras everywhere and in LV it’s like a friggin free for all
I've been driving that route 6x a year for 20+ years. It's the worst on the way back to Denver. esp that part from Vail to the tunnel. Especially when it snows, which is always, and you already been driving for 12 hours. ...its also full of potholes.
@@chitowngall Orlando is the same way in this regard.
I don't know where she's driving if she says they all go 5 miles under the limit. Everywhere I drive, there are road bullies riding up your butt, speeding through the red lights, and exceeding the limit. The traffic here is scary. Everyone is in a rush.
I was stopped for a red light and someone drove on the opposite side of the road to go around me and blew through the red light. It’s wild.
Thanks for the vid. Great perspective. Greetings from the Cream City. 🍻😎
That’s a great video Ruby! I live in KC and saw a home back in 2010 in your area and was blown away by how cheap it was. How things have changed. The same home is now 1/2 million. 2x as much. My local market isn’t as great but 50% more value. Glad I bought when I did. Good luck to you!
Thanks for this. Stupid nervous about starting over and moving out there next month. Been watching your videos for a while cuz I’m actually coming out next week for a stay to see Kelly’s residency and moving not too long after. (If my meeting with some possible roomies works out anyway haha)
I LOVE living in Vegas. I'm from Pennsylvania and moved to Vegas 8 years ago. I work and live in Summerlin...and you're right, you never have to leave it. I hardly ever deal with traffic and can get just about anywhere within 30 minutes. You are so on-point with everything you said. Great video!
Ruby very informative and eloquently said. Thanks.
Moved to LV from Philly 7 years ago and your video was spot on!
Such a great video Ruby . I can relate. I moved from New York to South Florida several years back and it was an adjustment. I don’t find myself going to the beach as much or to Disney as I used to as everyday life gets in the way . It’s different than when your on vacation. As for the heat I’m with you . I hate the cold and luckily here in West Palm Beach don’t have to worry about that lol 😎😎😎
Hey man. Queens native here. Was just down exploring Broward/Palm beach counties for possible move. Checking out Vegas, as well. I have to say, while FL is nice I did see a lot of sketchy areas, especially along Rt 1.
@@magamaga1827 True true but there are sketchy areas no matter where you live . I’ve been here more than 20 years now and love it . Grew up in NY and just couldn’t take the winters anymore. Wherever you decide to move …it takes time to adjust . For me it was best decision I made .
@@anthonylagano2371 how lucky, S. Florida is where I want to live as well. Sad reading this as summer is about to come 😩😩😩
Great video, Ruby! Didn't realized you had moved there. my dad lived there the last couple of years of his life, and my uncle lives there still. Gives me a great excuse to drive over from Denver every few months. Glad you enjoyed driving through Colorado! Hopefully you didn't encounter bad weather when you did! Can we look forward to a collab between you and some of the other Vegas vloggers? Would love to see a Pompsie/Ruby, Jacob/Ruby, or Norma/Ruby collab!
Appreciate the sights of this state so thanks for this post.
Love the video! Thanks for the info.
Welcome to Vegas! We just moved here 9 months ago ourselves (wife and I) and found similar pros and cons....We were surprised that you mentioned health care as a pro though, that was the one thing that we were concerned about moving here. We are also in Summerlin, right down the street from where you are, there's a ton to do just in this area without ever having to go to the strip, its awesome!
Yes the health care isn't very good in ny opinion. Sadly my family member had to go put of state for care because no not in town felt comfortable treating them . I myself haven't really found many great Dr's which is pretty concerning to me as well
I was a truck driver for many years and I agree with you. Colorado (and Utah) are beautiful but terrifying to drive through, especially in an 18 wheeler! Anyway, I've been in love with Vegas for many years and thinking of making the move soon too, just need a bit more time to prepare but I am very excited!
Never knew truck drivers were afraid to drive through Colorado and Utah.
Why is it so crazy? All the elevation and winding roads?
You will love living in vegas
@@thru_and_thru A lot of the winding roads through the mountain areas have steep cliff dropoffs just past the guardrails (if any). That's what can be terrifying, especially at freeway speeds or at night. You definitely need to focus while driving in those areas and watch your speed on downhill corners.
I imagine the high winds trying to push your truck off the road is much more stressful than driving a car.
Thx for sharing those informations. 👍🏻
Congratulations Ruby and Mr. Ruby!! (My dad may move part time to Vegas in the future so this is a neat vid!)
I’m so sorry the moving transition wasn’t the smoothest for you all. It’s refreshing to hear your take on LV. Please know how proud your audience is of you!! I moved here from CO 7 years ago and man you’re right about our prices, that took so much getting used to. We’re LA without the beaches unfortunately. I hope you’ll feel more comfortable with sharing your experiences in vlog style or as your experiences happen. This video seemed like it was delayed intentionally. I almost couldn’t believe you’ve been here for 6 months already! I’m supporting you through all the highs and lows of your journey girl❤ excited to see even more of your content from the local perspective. The steakhouse video SLAPS!
no comparison to LA. It's phoenix meets Albequerque at best. Pricinis is silly for moon surface geography and hot temperatures exceeding Venus. the strip was goo d 40 uears ago now it's third world and hip hopper gangland losers
Does she say anything back to you? Just curious. I see many people writing to her but have yet to see her write back.
Great video. Very Informative!
Please tell Kiki I love her. And I love that green chair, I have one like that but pink.
A few years ago, I rented a car while in Vegas. As a Canadian being used to what extreme weather fluctuations do to roads, I couldn't get over how smooth the roads were. The heat would destroy me though.
I moved to Laughlin a few years ago from The People's Republic of California. I must say that your observations of Nevada in general and Las Vegas specifically were fairly accurate. Also your pros and cons were 100% legit. My biggest plus to moving out here is that, even though Nevada can be a bit pricey, I still have been able to financially 'catch up' and even get slightly ahead. My wife and I have stared to be able to do things that we could never have done in California, due to not being able to afford it. My only big regret is that we didn't move out here 10 years sooner.
Cheaper than Calif is easy to do in all 49 other states except Hawaii. Vegas geography is the surface of the moon with temperatures exceeding the surface of the Sun. Souless bland stucco Soviet era style housing on absurdly small lots. 30 green acre farms in Ohio cost less than cheap vegas house
Well as a Californian i’m actually happy people are moving out because all they do is complain about it so I’m glad they’re finding a place to live. And I’m waiting, but it’s not going to happen my favorite place to live in California, San Luis Obispo hopefully people would move out. So me and my friend can afford to live there🤣
