From 3-5pm the world was mine!!!
I use to be so ready for 3pm to get here. I'd be feeling half dead from a busy school day of language arts, math, music, RECESS FUN, social studies, science, etc and then I'd glance up at the clock and see it was after 2:30pm and instantly I'd become energized and pumped. My second wind had started.

I was 8 in ‘84. My favorite was Muppet Babies. These days, with things so crazy, it’s become a habit of mine every couple weeks to get some cereal on a Saturday morning and watch one of your videos. And I don’t even have kids, but it gets me away from the 21st century for a while. I’m glad you post these, it’s almost like therapy. Thank you.

In this day with sh*tty politics, distrust of science and health, rampant racism, horrible diseases, etc., these sorts of shows and channels are JUST the kinds of things we need now! Practically a godsend! A way to forget the troubles of today and focus on the innocence that kids of the past were able to experience. The 70s, 80s, 90s, '00s. They had their problems, but the one thing that really helped alleviate them were shows like these. Many kids didn't even know there were difficulties like wars, diseases and such thanks to folks like the Biskitts, Muppet Babbies and more. Now if only we could go back to those days.

God bless you for blessing all of us with this trip down memory lane. This invokes so many emotions: happiness, joy, sadness, and gratitude. 1984 was a great year!! I lived in New Jersey in the southern part of the state (Bridgeton, New Jersey) CBS was Channel 10. It was the go to channel for Saturday morning cartoons in my house. I liked other shows on NBC and ABC but nothing compared to CBS. Dungeons and Dragons and Muppet Babies were my favorite!! 39 years ago I was in front of the tv screen with not a care in the world now I'm watching this on a computer screen at work on overtime smh ......time goes by so fast. Shout out to all my Generation X kids in the house.

CBS was my favorite during this period because I was obsessed with video games and they had the most game-related shows (Saturday Supercade, Pole Position, Starcade). Even though Pole Position was really just Knight Rider for kids and had nothing whatsoever to do with F-1 racing like the game, I still watched. ;)

The funny thing about the Captain Kangaroo theme song is that it was used in one scene from one of the Annabelle movies. Ed and Lorraine Warren's 10 year old daughter was reading something on her parents while eating her cereal and watching Captain Kangaroo. The show's theme song and intro montage was from the early 80's yet the movie's setting is 1972. I did a little Googling on that one.

@@MoneMedia There is one one scene where this kid who is the pizza guy who says, Sweet! I do not remember the specifics unfortunately. I would either have to watch that scene again or Google the quotes from the movie. It might've been the reason he said that cause one of the teenagers were free to go steady. I maybe wrong on that. Anyway, the young pizza man says Sweet as in cool in modern slang and I'm like, Nobody said sweet in the 70's. Except if it's, Ohhhh, how sweet! Or You have a sweet and adorable daughter. Again, nobody said sweet in the 70's that way. They would say, Groovy! or Far out! The kid could have said either one of those phrases.

4:28:03 - PRYOR’S PLACE (CBS, 1984) - Despite a reputation for profanity from actor/comedian Richard Pryor, Pryor’s Place was aimed for children. Like Sesame Street, Pryor’s Place features a cast of puppets…hanging out and having fun in a friendly inner-city environment, along with several children and characters portrayed by Pryor himself.
The show’s theme song was performed by Ray Parker, Jr. of Ghostbusters fame, who also appeared in the show’s opening credits. The show was also fitted with a laugh track.
Pryor’s Place was broadcast on Saturdays on CBS (at 11:30 AM/10:30 AM Central) from September 15 to December 8, 1984, with repeats airing until June 15, 1985.

A treasure. Back in the 80s, I'd get up about 6 am, go downstairs to the TV. The sucky shows like educational shows were on until about 7, then the good shows started. At some point my mom would call me upstairs to eat breakfast, then I'd rush back downstairs and watch cartoons until noon, when usually NWA wrestling came on. If two cartoons came on at the same time, you just had to go over to the TV and turn the knob back and forth to watch them between commercial breaks. You had three channels to choose from, but most of the good cartoons like Spider-Man or Mr. T were only on two channels. Sunday morning had a few smattering of cartoons, but they were really random and usually only lasted 1-2 hours. After that, the only time you could watch cartoons was around 4 pm on weekdays, shows like GI Joe, Thundercats and Transformers (but only if you had cable).
