oof i know that feeling. tunnel building is always a pain. mainly because you cant fix any voxel mistakes without going admin

I have got to say, that was a really good idea with how you extended the boom each time. I personally would have never in my wildest dreams would have thouggt of that.
Great and absolutely amazing design and job.

It kind of works, but it is slowly dropping from the connectors, so not the most even dig. Hard to see that in the time lapse

if you want an infinite drill build a duel rail system with large grid landing gear platform to slide on the rails, add refineries, assemblers and storage. use a projector for the rails and welders to make them and the platform slides ...the drills needs to be in the front of it all. this worked out very will for me..

I have managed to build a vertical infinite drill, but a horizontal one may be trickier. I found the main thing you want with an infinite drill is for it to be able to make the components it uses to grow (Which tends to limit the drill to small grid blocks)

I like making a printer for deep drills. So you can continue to go deeper it will just build it for you and ad the support. Also spinning drills are nice once you have gone deeper in for clearance

Your boom extension idea is inspirational!

Just an idea, maybe stabilizing the pipes and the drill head with a few sets of wheels might give it a less wiggle when the drill goes in further?

No, of course sharing inertia tensors is the best idea that never caused any problems at all

I could see this working.... If clang spares you that is

I tried this on a girder system in the side of a mountain and it just destroys the girder railing.

For the endless drills dont you need to use merge blocks to keep everything straight. I dont know that for sure since I dont build my drill systems like that but watching a few others ive seen them use merge blocks.

1:25 im thinking "what is this crazy Klang-fuelled madness that he's doing??"
    Then i realized
Hes going to make a _worm_

That’s really smart how you made that took me a sec to figure out what u where doing

I think using merge & timer blocks aswell advanced rotorheads is the way to go . Less wobbly. Also the timer are needed to make it a true infinity drill aka inch worm.

the longer this gets the drill may need contact to the ground via some wheel contraption. I have seen that the drill heads then would at the same time be used to print the walls, then the conveyor system could be integrated there and used for say a printer later on.

  • @themidnightbanshee5927

It's also like this in Minecraft
You build a small shed to live in while you construct your real home
    Impressive drill structure btw

Lucky i saw this.... Coz before i saw this i thought i was crazy and going crazy doing this alone similar to this build..... How a lonely mind could make you doubt yourself.....

What is this light that goes around and welds stuff?
Looks like it queues stuff for building and then goes and auto welds???

Did you or your base get struck by lightning? I didn’t see any instance of that occurring.
