  • I explore a beautiful mountain trail on my KingSong 16S during the autumn season to check out the leaves and their changing colors. I compare this ride to a ride I took almost one year before on my Onewheel XR. During this ride I discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the EUC to the Onewheel XR when it comes to off-road trails.

    That darn Jimmy! Back when he first got the EUC I gave him a hard time about the Onewheel being better. But I stuck with learning the EUC and now I can go in a straight line for a good distance, am slowly getting the hang of turning and hopefully will soon be able to get on it without leaning against something. And guess what? They’re different beasts but both are really, really fun. Darn you’re calm, cool, rational demeanor Jimmy Chang!!!!

    Very fascinating how things evolved over the year.
    I'm an avid Onewheeler that just bought his first EUC (Begode Master). This thing opened up everything that the Onewheel was struggling on or flat out couldn't do. While I totally prefer the riding stance and nimbleness of the OW, I'll have to say that by now (end of 2022), offroad capability switched in favour of EUC. Some of them are nearly Uni-Motocross by now. Really curious to see how this evolves in the future, while FM is stuck playing alone.
    Maybe you could make an updated video comparing how it changed with the newer models? The GT vs some newer EUC could give a nice update.

    I watched it to the end. As part of the Oak City OneWheel group in Raleigh we do ride on dirt trails often. We frequently have EUC riders join us. We have total respect for them on the trails. They outperform the OneWheel is the may aspects you pointed out. I believe EUCs are the future of electric off-road rideables.

As you know I like riding my Onewheel off-road and I had an interest in EUC's and it's been growing more more partly because of you. So it's good to see What they could do off-road and I appreciate the information comparing the two. On the second part of your video congratulations on growing your channel, and its been great to watch. I have a suggestion. For your 10,000 subscribers celebration throw out a general invite for everyone who's been in any of your videos, hint, hint to all meet up somewhere and celebrate with you on a ride. I especially like the idea of encouraging your kids to help you by paying them. Hopefully something like that will work with mine, LOL.

    Hey, Mr. Chang I've got an idea for a video. Could you test the effect of speed on downhill regeneration? You seem to have some great long hills to work with. I'm guessing for a given slope, there is a "sweet spot" where you will get the most regeneration. Faster than that and the wind resistance will take most of your energy. Thanks for the great videos.

    Dear Jimmy Chang! Great videos. Enjoyed your this video and some others too. Very clear and informative, and also enjoyable with the views and scenery of Colorado too!
    Since you gave a candid talk/update at the end, I rewatched your video. Two thoughts I too wish to share hopefully as useful feedback:
    1 - With headphones on, the music sounds louder than the narration. Must be the way the headphones process music vs voice.
    Perhaps, you should check the loudness of music vs narration on headphones too, and not just on the Mac.
    That is the best feedback I can give you. And thanks for the candid chat at the end.
    2 - Optional: with more views and hopefully revenues, think of getting a drone as well, esp. given the Colorado views.
    + Great that you are paying the kids!
    Hopefully, others also find your videos informative and also entertaining into the future! Good luck!

    Do you think that for riding with a heavy backpack, peals in monocycles should be lower to ride off road? The lower, the better to maintain stability and riding without a backpack is easy for everyone, and with a backpack 20-30kg hard to get on. I am looking for monocycles for off road backpacking off the tourist trail, not the forest trail. What are your suggestions?

    Regarding riding slowly and standing in place - once your leg muscles and balance allow you to ride with one leg on the EUC, the EUC may actually have the advantage. You can easily step on and off the EUC while keeping one leg on the EUC. Placing one foot on the ground allows you to relax the pressure on your feet & legs while still allowing you to ride & control the EUC with the other foot.

    There seems to be so much debate about EUC's vs the Onewheel. Ride what you like best, it's that simple. It doesn't have to be either/or. I have both the Kingsong and a Onewheel, and I would choose the Onewheel 10/10. It's just how it rides and feels so much better than the EUC. It's just personal preference and choice. I'm actually going to sell the EUC and keep the Onewheel. Either way, just enjoy which ever ride you like the most and have a blast out there.

  • @TheRealAlpha2
    @TheRealAlpha2 Před 4 lety +1

    I'm glad you brought up the subject of peddle clipping/nose diving. Maybe you covered it, but which in your opinion is the more escapable situation? I feel like in the case of a nose dive you're riding in the "cool" side ways stance which might make it difficult to recover from, but chances are if you're nose diving I'd think you're already aware you're pushing the Onewheel too hard and might be prepared. On the EUC I feel like you have a forward stance so if you clip a peddle on a large rock you might be able to maintain your footing at a running speed, but you're less prepared because you might not consider it to be a threat.
    Also that new camera looks great, While I've never used Epidemic I know a lot of big channels use it (which might be double edged because you get better music but on the other hand you'll sound like _those_ channels instead of ones using the free CZcams tracks.😄)

    • @freshlycharged
      @freshlycharged  Před 4 lety +1

      Nosedives come out of nowhere. I've had nosedives 80% charge, flat ground, going 10-13 miles per hour and it hurt. Never found out what caused it. You can nosedive going uphill, low battery, overcharge, going too fast, or just mechanical error. I think nosedives are more unpredictable and tend to throw you into the ground. Pedal clipping comes when you aren't paying attention and your pedal hits a rock, root, curb, etc. If you are going fast, that is hard to recover from because it can twist you as you are thrown forward, but it doesn't slam you down into the ground like a nosedive. I've had a few pedal clips, but I'm never going very fast and I've been able to run it out. I have yet to shed blood because of my EUC. Can't say the same about the OW.

Theres two add ons you can do together that give it more range and still cheaper than a stock xr before I even added the 700 dollar battery. He added this external battery that goes on top next to the fender on both sides, and it actually ads stability cause you can grip it with your feet at a wider stance than just a fender and then add the Quart battery too! Two adds for crazy range and way cheaper. The only downside is the pint pushback. It makes me want one tho and I have four XR's

    • @freshlycharged

      I got that at the beginning too. I thought it was because I have muscular calves 😁 but I really think it's because I was pinning the wheel too hard between my legs. Try relaxing and not pinning so hard except when going on tough terrain or doing drops.

    The EUCs are better at almost everything. But what about beach riding? Surely the Onewheel must at least has an advantage at the beach. Can EUC even ride on sand?

  • @mooted5513
    @mooted5513 Před 8 měsíci

    I’m very good at off-roading. I can give Chooch a run for his money. In short, both devices come with limitations. What is tricky about the EUC is that it is vastly superior in every metric of performance, but still falls flat because of physics once you reach a certain level of skill. Nothing beats a mountain bike or your automated version of choice. Elevated pedals, actual grip to the device, terrain grip, mechanical brakes. Nothing on one wheel and without something to hold on to beats this. So the metric you should compare between is “fun factor”, and I’d argue ruggedness unless you have a sea of time and money to keep everything in good working order.

    I feel like this was just a comparison of OW and EUC not specific to off roading. The real question is, how often do you need to get off the board during a ride for each one? The narrow tire on the EUC feels like a disadvantage in that regard, more liable to get stuck in loose dirt and with larger rocks could tip you over (please note I do not ride EUC so could be wrong) where the wider wheel on a OW at least in my experience gives me confidence going over most anything, on the other end of the spectrum the EUC absolutely takes the cake for trails with large elevation gain, no shot im getting up a 20% grade with that risk of a nosedive.
