I've watched hundreds of videos around this topic and this is EASILy the best...so clearly explained.cheers Dan.
Thanks to you Dr Dan, I am at nearly 80 years old, on the verge of understanding the chemistry of fats. You are a great teacher, it`s a pleasure to watch your videos.
Brilliant and brave video. The message and narrative needs to change. I've lost friends trying to explain that fat isn't bad for you when eaten with the correct ratio of other food types (low carbs, and moderate protein). I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't know that the biochemistry for most of this has been known and understood for decades, Yet the official message never changed and has always extolled following a low fat diet. Criminal.
Excellent information. Sadly, most "health" practitioners are clueless about it
Another great video Dr Maggs. Keep on helping more people to see the dietary light and decide to take the red pill.
Thanks for watching Simon! :)
Excellent tutorial on the whole fat debacle. I particularly liked the car park analogy. Thanks for taking the time to share.
This might be the best video on Fat Info I have ever seen. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank You, Dr. Maggs ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 💪💖
Thanks for this easy to follow video. As a 60 something with high cholesterol I followed the low fat model for many years, eating low fat yoghurt, having Flora instead of butter & using what I believed to be healthy sunflower oil. Now I don’t have these things in my house. I’ve also massively reduced processed & ultra processed “food” now that I really understand what it does to our health & have far less carbs, though I don’t strictly follow a low carb diet. Over the last year I’ve lost over a stone meaning I’m no longer overweight. Still have high cholesterol but it seems lowering LDL is not a great idea in someone my age, in fact it can be protective as I learnt from Dr Aseem Malhotra, consultant cardiologist in UK & others. Personally I say no to low fat & no to statins, which I was on briefly 4 years ago. Never again!
I agree I went of statins years ago went low carb my doc says cholesterol is under control she thinks I still on meds haha
Excellent!! Nailed both transfats and the myth that red meat is bad for you!! Good job
Awesome video, it cleared up a lot of questions that I have, thanks!
Great video Dr Dan. One of the most clear and concise I have seen. Thank you so much 👍
Love the video … and appreciate the chemistry lesson. Keep them coming please!
Thanks for a clear, concise and well presented enlightening video. Thanks Doc!!
Fabulously informative, top-notch work.
Another great informative video. Thank you.
Thank you! Best explanation I have seen. I shared. :) I enjoy your informative videos. keep up the great work. Prayers to you & your family. 🙏🙏💗💗
Very clearly explained! Thanks!
Great video Dan, thanks. I just wish UK GP's would study more about keto lifestyles rather than simply dismiss it as not good for cholesterol!
Outstanding, as usual. Thank you. So very thorough, educational, and well presented! 🙏👏🏻👍🏻🤗
Wow, this is a wonderful master class that can benefit all people including many doctors out there.
Thanks very much for this superb video!
Well, that was a great deal to process. Thank you so much I now understand (to some degree) the Omega 3 and 6 issue.
You didn't put the link to the paper in the description.
Best video I have seen on Fats. Thank you very much for the well rounded discussion.
Incredibly well explained.
Thanks. A very useful video, I think!
A very interesting & in depth video, thank you Dr Dan. I have a spoonful of olive oil in the morning, I fry using only coconut oil & I drizzle Avocado oil on my salads & real butter on my toast, I'm sure I'm going in the right direction. The reason, I think, that the government don't tell the people the truth is down to money. Our doctors would rather give us pills to take than to tell patients about a healthy diet & how it could help with blood pressure problems & gut problems. Thank you once again.
Currently hooked to your very comprehensive content here, thank you very much for this. Trying to find the same on Spotify for easier listeninh
Thanks Dan... I'm just catching up on your vlogs after a while and appreciate your straight talking on this subject....liver and onions anyone?
9:30 Yes I do lol, every day. I was actually going to do that just now lmao. It's a great way of keeping up a fast for longer
I don’t see a link to the study you mentioned that shows there was no evidence for the limited fat recommendation by the government.
Usually I find this kind of video boring. But man! I sat through it 😅
Hi Dr. Maggs, I just watched your video. I have to admit some of the information went over my head. Can you just give me a list of healthy fats to eat. Thanks
It's good to see a UK doctor talking sense about our diets.
Are you a practising GP in Warwick?
Hi Ian, yes, but I mainly work in the Out Of Hours Service.
awesome!
I agree dan
I can't believe this is free!!
Question: if you don’t have a gall bladder, which fats are easier, or harder, for the body to break down?
Great presentation! THE BIG FAT SURPRISE by Nina Teicholz should be required reading for all.
Best oils: butter, coconut oil, avocado oil. Good sources = red meat, fish, eggs, whole milk dairy, coconut oil, butter, whole milk cheeses.
What can I say but, 'Fab'. Cheers.
Hi, you didn’t link the resources 😊
Presumably cold pressed seed oils are ok since eating the seeds is fine…?
As long as you consume the oil before it oxidises (you won't have long)
Seed oils actually aren’t really a concern in humans as the proposed mechanism by which omega 6 is meant to cause inflammation isn’t valid as levels of arachidonic acid don’t change after consumption of omega 6. Even if they did arachidonic acid has also been shown to form anti-inflammatory molecules. So the ratio of omega 3:6 doesn't really matter in humans.
Even if the ratio of omega 3 and 6 is not important, seed oils are still a massive problem. The heat and pressure necessary to produce them causes them to be oxidised by the time you buy them. They cause huge oxidative stress in the body and contribute to diabetes and cardivascular disease. I strongly recommend you check out the videos of Dr Paul Mason.
❤️
So sorry to hear of the loss of the Queen. My prayers are with you.
yes, has the U.S. federal government ever lied to us?
And fat, particularly animal fat, is delicious
Way to complicated. You need to say what fat you are talking about in real life , lard, dripping, olive oil. Also not percentage or grams, but real amounts, tea spoon, size of sugar cube. No mention of organic, or dangers of farmed Scottish Salmon. Tell us what food is good to eat without the complicated terms.
Maybe 🤔 he can stop by and explain it to you personally.
