- Here are three tips I always use when buying auctions on eBay. With these tips, you will win more auctions, spend less money, stop wasting precious time and finally, prevent any upset and frustration after loosing a listing. Spending to much on a listing is worse lol. I've gotten to the point where I put my timer on with a min left on listing, and have my bid ready, and put it in at 5 secs. Been working well.

Yep, same strategy I've used for years. I decide early on what my max bid will be and stick to it. Auction sites other than eBay have much more downtime and that's definitely hurt me before in those last few minutes 😅

I’ve put in my highest bid with the odd number on the last day, several hours before it ended because I had to go to work and I knew I wouldn’t be able to check my phone.
Another buyer placed a bid at the last minute that was less than my max bid and I still won it. I paid for it as soon as I got off work. Sometimes bidding early still works, but I’d wait until the last minute if possible.
I agree it sometimes works and I also but early when I know I won’t be able to bid on the live auction. Glad you won it!!
I put in my highest bid regarding the amount I am willing to pay for an item. You only end up paying a dollar more than the 2nd highest bidder if you win. if I win or lose I am ok with that. I am not interested in getting in to bidding wars or constantly checking the item as it winds down then trying to outbid someone. You win and lose auctions, just be happy if you win that you were able to get the item at a price you were satisfied with.

I’ve been doing all of those for years!
A few times when I would try for an eBay auction, I would place a bid and instantly get a message that I was out bid by a few cents. I would place a few more bids, and they would all instantly be outbid by that same user. The only way that bidder could have responded that quickly was if it was a bot. Before giving up on the auction, I increased the bid by $5 or 10 to spite whoever was running the bot.
No, it isn't a bot. It's the ebay system. Ebay don't automatically place the highest bid, but only out bids the second by a slight margin (50 Cent afaik).
eBay allows you to bid any dollar amount and it will only charge you that amount if someone else out bids you or is bidding against you.
Example: I bid $100 and you Bid $50 I will now be winning it for $51 and that is why you get the message right away. Now if you bid $100.01 or higher you will ne winning. That is how most people bid to save time and just bid once.
@@leggomyjameso6082sometimes even if u wait until the auction is almost over even if there 10 or 15 minutes left I bided and waited until there was 15 seconds left I bided and got out bided and then I lost I wanted to win some bootleg Rolling Stones cds I wanted really bad and I lost

Now you know. It’s a snake move to play this way but it’s how I win things and it’s how I bid. It sucks being on the other end of it. It happened to me all the time and hence I learned to do this
just bid a million dollars and you will win, the automatic bidding system will drop the price you bid all the way down to a dollar above the last bidder when bidding closes.
If someone else bids $900,000 you're doomed 😂

I thought the way it worked was you put the full amount of whatever your first bid will be and then it pops up a second window that you type in your counter bid that will automatically go up over the amount someone else bid at. Is that not how it works ?
It would be crazy to bid a million dollars unless you're willing to pay that. If you really wanted to pay $100K, but someone bids $500K YOU will have to pay the bid increment right above $500K.
@@LoneTinaja its extremely unlikely someone else is going to also bid a million dollars on a cheap item. people are going to bid the top dollar they are willing to pay. if i want something bad enough i will pay a dollar or so above the last bidder.
Lolz I window shop online to see what nice things I would have… oh wait don’t forget the shipping fee is all I want to say people.
When an item gets away, don't stress. Or if like me you spend a lot on ebay and at times you have to be stricked with yourself and not bid on anything but something cool as hell comes up. Just remember, there will always be another opportunity. Just thought I'd throw that out.

I won a auction within 5 seconds I won by 1 dollar it is pretty easy I bid 57 $ the bid before me was 56 $ I was excited it was the perfect amount I bid 5 seconds is not enough time for eBay to notify other bidders

Same thing I've done for years. One bid and simply accepting potential loss of the auction. I also use my computer calendar reminder so I know that "today is the day." then set the alarm on my phone for 30 min in advance so I can snooze a couple times in case I'm busy. Then I bid at T - 10 seconds. I used to cut it even closer like 1 second, but if the server or connection is a bit slow, it may take too long for my bid to be registered. Occasionally you will get a millionaire on there. Just accept the loss if you're not that rich.
Tie breaker also important. Add $1.00 plus any change between .01 and .99.
Think of a "bid" as a budget that you are handing eBay to let eBay bid for you. I call all the low bidding as "leap frogging" the price up. Fortunately so many people never get it.
However, if I am the seller, I hope for "leap frogging" to get my ultimate price up!
Before I retired, I shared an office with another buyer who complained that what I did was "unfair." LOLOL!

Some people hate the method but eBay is designed to allow it and therefore I play by their rules. It may be considered “unfair” but it is what it is and I have found more success with this method and I’ll continue to do so. Anyone can bid at 3 seconds so that’s what we should do lol. I suspect it's because I only have my phone, but I can't set my own specific bid; it only gives me like 3 increase options at a time in $1,2,3,$5 only increments and it hoses me and I don't like it one bit. 😑 I keep losing treasures. Good tips thanks.

Then you might not get it. If I have Poot connection I bid in the last 30 seconds. It is not ideal but if you want to win more, having fast internet is helpful:)

Does ebay display your highest bid say every ones bidding and around like 21 or 25 dollars maxs and u put in your maxs bid 80 does it show 80 maxs bid or does it hide it till the end and since the second highest bid was 25 so out of 80 do u just have to pay 26 and does the 80 never show up on ebay just 26 on bid or will it show to every one on eBay that the max bid is 80 does ebay work like that or thats only for snipe apps
It hides it. Other bidders can’t see what you bid
How do you do this against someone who has automatic bidding on?
I think automatic bidding is really just someone bidding high on something. For example, let’s say something is at $10 and I bid $20 on it. I’ll be winning it for $11. If you bid $15 for it then I will automatically out bid you and win it for $16. The way around this is by simply having a top dollar you’re willing to spend. You might say it’s worth $30 so you bid $30 at the last second. As long as the person who was winning before you bids less than $30 you will win it. As bids get more expensive the increment changes from let’s say $1 to $5

what are other good auctions sites besides ebay for electronics
Check out goodwill, they have live auctions. I’m not sure on other websites for electronics. A google search might help guide you to some sites.

No you Can bid last minute on anything. I usually don’t ever bid until the last few minutes. If the item is at $100 and I want it for $150 or less, I’ll bid $150.01 in the last 10 seconds and I’ll either win or loose for that price or less. If the next bidder only bids $120 I’ll win it for $121. I hope that makes sense
New to Ebay. What information does the seller get about you after you win before you pay?
They should just see your account name. I’m not sure if they see your address when you win or when you finally pay

What happens if you bid on something then you win the bid but you don’t buy the item
It will be bad for your account and they may close your account if it happens multiple times. Don’t bid on something if you don’t intend to buy it
