That last graphic by Nick was egregiously misleading and I'm surprised nobody provided pushback for that
13:38 The fact that Nick admitted that part of his argument is a pity vote for Embiid proves just how insane this is. I want to remind everybody that Giannis is averaging only two less points than Joel, but still has more rebounds, more assists, and team has the number one seed and the best record in the nba. Also before any of you say “Well Giannis missed time” Joel Embiid has played only two more games than Giannis this season. Literally the only reason Joel is being favored is because Joel fans are crying that he hasn’t gotten one yet. This isn’t a charity. The best team is the Bucks and the best player is Giannis.
Same thing happened last season. The race should have been between Giannis and Jokic. Somehow Giannis ended up not even being in the conversation.
The argument for Joel is that Giannis has a team that fits around him a lot better than Joel does.
Embiid got knocked down for games played two years ago did you have an issue then?
Pity vote for the leading scorer in the nba? Head to head Sixers are 2-1 against the bucks with Embiid outplaying giannis 2 out of the 3 games.

@@DaFlash50 Jokic only allowed 2 more points per 100 possessions than Embiid and opponent fg% is less than 2% difference between Embiid and Jokic. Jokic also ranked 12th in defensive rating to Embiid 6th ranked. Jokic helps Denver become a top 10 defensive team with him on the floor while without Jokic the nuggets are bottom 12 in defence for the season. Jokic clutch defence when foul trouble is not a concern and physicality is allowed is a huge factor too.
So the stats and eye test confirms Jokic is an above average defender so the false narrative needs to stop otherwise it makes you or anyone who follows this narrative looks idiotic.
it's not kyrie's fault, it's JKidd/Nico Harrison/Donnie Nelson and most importantly Mark Cuban who are somehow managing to do even worse at building around a generational talent than the 00s Cavs. The mavs had a trash roster all year, luka hard carried them with MVP level play for 3 months and then his unfit body finally broke down. Tbf after Westbrook had multiple seasons averaging a tripdub, I think no one's that impressed anymore
@@adu11 But Westbrook was a point guard him averaging that many assists wasn’t crazy surprising. Jokic is a center averaging 10 assists, and has a 70.0 TS%. A 24 point triple double on historic efficiency with the best record in the conference does put him in the MVP race strongly.
@@goldenstatewarriors9418 no but if another guard averaged 10+ rebounds, it just wouldn't be as impressive thanks to Russ. Plus, there's nothing inherent about the center position that prevents one from avg high assist numbers. It's just not asked of them. I'm honestly more impressed w his efficiency. Jokic is most definitely in the mix, my point is I'm not particularly swayed by his assist numbers. I'd be more impressed if he could consistently get stops or pull off clutch plays, both in the way Embiid has
@@NFLOLDMAN771 Haha, you aren't very good at math are you? Jokic averages 2.5 points off of each assist. If you add his 25 points, plus his 25 points from his 10 assists that is 50 points he generates each game. If you take Embiid's 33 points and even assume he gets 3 points from his assists (which he doesn't) for his 4 assists, that gives 45 total points. So Jokic creates more points for his team, grabs more rebounds, scores much more efficiently, and has more steals and deflections than Embiid. Talking about playoff wins is irrelevant since we vote for MVP before the playoffs. And playoff win are usually more "team" based!! And the last two playoffs the Nuggets second best player Murray was hurt. Saying Jokic would run away with it this year if he hadn't won the previous two literally shows he should win it this year🤦♂️ They literally blew up their arguments at the end!!
Mpj was hurt as well lol
It bugs me that Nick basically acts like Jokic is a bum. Like if you wanna say Embiid's the MVP that's fine, but Nick's essentially penalizing Jokic for Murray and Porter being out but giving Embiid credit for having better players so the playoff wins as a metric is dumb. What Jokic did last year to get to 48 wins is nuts. This is the list of players who played the most minutes for the Nuggets - Jokic, Aaron Gordan, Will Barton, Monte Morris, Jeff Green, Austin Rivers, and Bones Hyland. They lost to the eventual champs in the playoffs. Jokic got the absolute most out of that squad and more than anyone else possibly could have.
Brussard. You have my most respect out of all the analysts we need your voice in the media to not be disrespecting Giannis and his contributions this season. I hope the Bucks win the whole thing so people have no choice to really put the time and effort into how good Giannis is. Its criminal how hes treated and ignored in the media.
Everyone focusing on the Mavs, but the MVP conversation was the best part of this segment (imo)
Missing in denver since 2019
Giannis is the best offensive and defensive player on the best team in the league. Voter fatigue is the only reason he’s not getting more MVPS, but the media is okay giving Jokic 3 in a row even though Jordan and Lebron never did that. Crazy.
Because it's "most valuable", not "best". Jokic, to his team, is more valuable than Giannis for the Bucks and Joel for Philly. The nuggets with him off the floor are a net negative, wouldn't even get close to .500, not a single player on that team is or has ever been an allstar of nba 1st team. It's Jokic that is making them play above their level, everyone around him, as the main hub for their offence, is having career years in efficiency. So yeah, Jokic is the most valuable. Giannis is the best player.
If the MVP went to the best player MJ should have had at least 10.
This 💯
He’s not even close to being best offensive player that is Jokic
@@Rimpianto I can’t give a pass to teams who construct their roster solely around one player that they can’t function without him. At some point the award has to go beyond just who’s the most valuable.
@@Yuan-lo3zz On a team as a whole I agree with you, they are so dependant on him that in many defensive possessions he doesn't contest because he cannot get in foul trouble or the team would melt. But on the other side, not his fault and he's doing an amazing job at that, 1st seed in the west.
Wonder when Nick will realize the MVP is a regular season award. I'm hoping eventually
They didn’t say that about Giannis 😅 his 3rd year after winning 2 the media was dead set on not giving him the award because he didn’t do it in the playoffs. Hold everyone to the same standard
We can pretend that postseason success doesn’t factor in for VORP god Jokić, but for every other MVP in the history of the award it has.
You obviously haven't followed the history of the award. Players have absolutely been denied the award due to not having post season accolades despite having a 3rd year that was statistically better than the ones they won the award with. So don't get mad at Nick for just going with the energy that has been set with precedents.
@@taylormalone1050 I mean, I know that, but it's literally a logical fallacy. Appeal to tradition. Just because we've always done something in a stupid way means we should conitnue doing it

Right at the end where Wildes calls them out for sympathy voting. That's why.
Wildes swears being simple is a good thing.
I love how they glossed over Embiid, ducking Jokić and the fact that even though he's won fewer playoff games, Jokić has gone farther than Embiid in the playoffs with worse teammates. The Jokić hate is insane. He minds his business and gets hated on by the media daily.
Yup, sad!
It’s hilarious how you feel like jokic is the victim of the media here like the media hasn’t voted him mvp two straight seasons and maybe a third
jokic has a negative pllayoff on/off his last three years eincluding his WCF run pathietic getting carried by murray. meanwhile AD, ginnis, embid all have elite playoff on/off

Jokic deserves it. Highest PER in history and most assists by a center in history. The guy is also 0.1 APG away from averaging a triple double. It's a no brainer.
I must say, the play-in was an elite decision by the board
But at the same time it’s totally unfair
Giannis has more points per min then Joel. More rebounds, more assists, better record and has been missing his second best player all season. He deserves this MVP.
