The "original line" is nearly 2 tenths slower | What did Xavi mean? | Onboard analysis

  • There was a misunderstanding during the final laps of the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix between Charles Leclerc and his race engineer Xavier Marcos Padros (Xavi). He couldn't explain clearly to Leclerc what line to run at turns 7 and 8. Let's analyze it! Onboard with telemetry and delta.

I promise you, if this was GP, directly after the tight line through 7 he would have come on the radio and give acknowledgement “thank you max” so that max can move on and focus. Here Leclerc has to ask for the result, if it’s better, and it seems like they wouldn’t even have checked it on their own. If they would have or not that feeling alone That’s bothersome. @@RacingTelemetry i mean ya he kind of opened up the corner a bit more. But the thing is in wet you usually want to stay away from normal racing line and him not doing it before he got the suggestion just showed that he was being careful but i bet the mclaren had more performance in that part of the track.

Hamilton passed 3 or 4 cars into 8 by going wide in 7. He liked the wider line.
