- The following is a compilation of a for-profit Malaysian-English-based official dub, named the Speedy Dub, produced by the company Speedy Video. This is the best dub in my opinion simply because it brought back the comedic aspect of the original series that had been so sparse throughout the Funimatoin adaption of Dragon Ball Z. Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT are all owned by FUNImation, Toei Animation, Fuji TV, and Akira Toriyama. Please support the (somewhat more) official release.
Just remember, someone grew up with this dub.

While I find the dub hilarious I have mad respect for the voice actors for learning English just to dub the show. It isn't easy knowing your bad English is going to be heard by lots of people. The acting may be bad but definitely gets an A+ for heart from me

Even if consider that, they're still not good at doing it because okay for whole sentences it's certainly difficult for them. Though when they yell or shout or even when they do screams of pain they have no excuse for the lack of implication because it's not even a matter of language barrier at that point.

This is actually so bad, That it's good. As for Funimation, their Dub from the 90s was bad. Just, bad, not very good. They improved in Kai.

When I was in high school it was the late 90s so I just started hearing of DBZ and anime piracy/sharing of dubs was harder to come by. I believe Cartoon Network didn't start airing DBZ until my sophomore year. A classmate told me that it had a "dark skinned Indian" named Poo-Poo. Now I understand that he watched the Speedy dub lmao

5 years late and you didn't ask, I know, but the outside of the ear of most living things functions as a sort of amplifier for the sounds we hear. The actual anatomy that processes sound are totally internal structures leading to the brain.
So it can probably be assumed that Namekians' discomfort/pain with higher-pitched sounds like Gohan's whistling of the song could be because of how their outer ears are shaped.
Just an observation though, idk if any of this is canon DBZ lore haha.

The voice acting aside, what the hell made the people in charge of the sound think that continuously distorting the music like that was a good idea?! At least the Big Green dub left the music as it is--
Maanit Aman They distorted the music because they don't know how change the audio quality lol (While Big Green Dub make the music a little high pitch)
Its because they ripped it off of a cassette tape and put it on a VCD I think.
@@XoArK well. I think that was the matter. I owned a damaged VHS tape when I was a kid and the audio got distorted like this. And the conversion from tape to VCD in that era also caused similar problems.
