I would have watched this as a kid without a second thought. I would have still thought this shit was cool. Underneath the silly dub, it's still DBZ.

My two favorite things about the Big Green dub:
1. That older gentleman who seems to voice nearly half the characters.
2. The fact they scream kamehameha for every move. And not just during every move, but even when just powering up sometimes.
It's like they had 0 previous knowledge of DBZ and got very little in terms of translations. Like they just call saiyins "space warriors"
I think they thought Kamehameha was just a Saiyan warcry. Any time a Saiyan strains or otherwise expends a lot of effort somehow they scream Kamehameha.
@@lyndy101Big Green was based on the French translations. I can only imagine that translating anime into French in the 90's was not the kind of position you could hire someone who was really qualified and well-versed in the subject matter for.

It's true! I watched the Big Green Cooler movie on VHS as my first Dragon Ball thing ever.
It was my first introduction. I got the Lord Slug movie on dvd in the early 2000s. Luckily for me Kai started to air not long after.

I love how TFS picked and chose from various dubs to be inspired by for their performances. Like, you can totally hear the Big Green Gohan and Roshi and even a lil bit of Piccolo in the TFS versions. Also Lord Slug and "the weird one" from Lord Slug's movie featuring Lord Slug. Honestly a lot of the movie villains. Oh and 18.
