I served in the Dutch military as a platoon Sergeant and did 2 tours in Afghanistan and 1 in Iraq. This video, even though I am not an American, hit a nostalgic nerve with me. We did the same kind of shit like you did at training. Fantastic video my friend!

Hey Nick, I commented awhile back on your "life as a platoon commander" video just on how I found it interesting and well done. I also mentioned that I was in the process of getting through the pipeline as an officer in the Marine Corps. Happy to say I commissioned and am soon to be on my way to my job school. Not the infantry but air support control (command and control element to the MAGTF). Just thought I'd chime in, been following you for awhile and you're doing great stuff. Like I'm sure you once were, I'm beyond excited to meet my Marines in a few short months. The community is a little different than the infantry but all the same in taking care of your guys. Awesome thing to be apart of. Keep killing it.

Just join the reserves. A lot of us business owners and artists, still play Army in the reserves. Though, I did end in the sand box twice... and got hurt out there. Still don't regret shit lol. Plus the tricare reserve select is awesome, compared to private 😂

Reasons why I'm going for Navy over Army is because of two reasons. 1. I love water and 2. Travel opportunities in a short amount of time and duty stations. Bonus reasons would be because of uniforms and I've always loved everything about the Navy since Kindergarten! Appreciate ya service sir!!! I just got back from Meps a week ago.
Well put together and I agree when your on the ground and not pulling rank on your soldiers thats when you truly connect. Officer and enlisted are two different worlds
I miss the comradery, training, deploying, wearing the uniform and the sense of purpose. I left because I wanted a stable family life and to get my B.A . Because, I was in the Infantry I now still get paid to shoot, move and communicate. I just do not have to deploy for long periods of time ad do not have to go overseas. I still keep the Infantry mindset and that is how I came across your You Tube Channel. Thanks for the videos and content. SDBLUE former Infantry 3rd I.D. Germany/5th I.D. Fort Polk.

Hey Nick, if I may, I recommend you wearing a pair of shoes that you won't be disappointed with for this marathon. They are called Adidas Pure Boost. There's many versions of them but I recommend a pair that has support and a lot of boost foam. To make it easy for you I recommend you getting the Adidas Ultra Boost or the Adidas uncaged. You won't be disappointed!

I’d say if you want to go SO (special operations) start training as soon as you can, you still have plenty of time so don’t let it consume stuff that’s more important like school and your job if you work. I’m currently training for a SEAL contract just graduated I train Mon-Fri 0600-0900 with other guys going SEALs, SWCC, Air Rescue etc in the Navy but yeah man get a feel for going out and running and do some calisthenics like push ups sit-ups and pull-ups get good form down then once you have that down then move onto more quantity same with weights if you want to lift good luck man

I'm not going to tell you not to do certain things like any sort of special operations or MOS with extremely long training period, but be careful with that sort of thing. I know people that went in as 18x and ended up washing out of airborne and rather being sent to and infantry unit as 11x like they should've been they got reclassed to 91m (Bradley Mechanic, my MOS) and now they hate it and had to spend a ridiculous amount of time in training which ruined how they feel about the army. Same goes for the people I know that washed out of medical MOS such as 68c and 68d. So just be wise and be sure of what you want to do and have realistic expectations there's always going to be a path further down the line where you can achieve your goals once you have more experience
