Nick, advice from an old soldier....make copies of all your medical records and exit physical. Also make copies of your professional records. Not sure what they call it now. But do this before you sign out!!

Working with alot of vets...they tell me how happy they are that there out. At the same time, they miss it so much. Mostly the guys they worked with and all the crazy stories they tell.

That is good your representing the infantry! As enlisted in early 90's, fighting on duty and off duty was normal and we always wrestled or slap boxed. We had royal rumbles between platoon and companies. The best was the Bear Pit at Fort Polk where last man in the water pit wins. Advice if you have not done so take a picture in your dress blues. I wish I would have taken a picture before i left with my last awards and rank. Now my jacket does not fit and I got rid of my pants. When you get older you we be happy you took the photo so you can reminisce of the glory days.

This voice over is way better then when you have to take breaks and say what your doing. My husband says the same about being in the military you can fight someone close to you and the next day hang out like nothing happened.

I'm not sure if you've ever talked about this, but does it bother you that you're getting out before you got a chance to get a combat deployment? I understand completely why you are moving on though.
Tang We used to be PLs together in the same battalion. At first it's bothersome that we train, train and train for 4 years straight without a combat deployment. But it's not 2008 anymore and for our battalion, the combat mission set was just not in our favor. I think he is just fine in following his passion. A wise senior NCO told me not to go deployment hunting, it will come to you.
If he wanted to see combat he could have went for SO contract. Or even SF since he liked the army
Tang well i guess it all depends on how you look at it I'm sure he's okay with it because he is in infantry and if the government needed him to fight he'd be there but thankfully it's relatively quite peaceful
Not necessarily, my brothers an 11B and has gone to Afghanistan twice in the past 3 years, both 9 month deployments. It all depends on what unit you're put with.
iTzRELOADzzHD he's not in ranger batt. that's the 75th. He just went to ranger school ( combat leadership course). Hes with a Calvary unit.

The scene with the whipped cream reminded me of my time when I was a newbie in a German mortar platoon. Almost every night, someone would sneak into our quarters and joke around with us while we were at sleep. One night, I woke up to someone spraying shaving cream all over my head and, while I was barely awake, I just looked at him briefly and said ''Fuck you!'' before going back to sleep.
When I woke up, I discovered that I had just spent all night with a giant mound of shaving cream (He emptied the entire can on top of my head, I looked like some kind of birthday pie gone wrong) on my head and when we did our morning rally, all the ''old'' soldiers looked at me with a wide grin because the guy who did it filmed the entire scene showing me opening my eyes, looking at him, saying ''Fuck you!'' and closing my eyes as if nothing happened. By the morning hour everyone had seen it already and that, although completely unintended, gave me some plus points for not ever bitching about it.
