    Nice job. For those who don't have a broken tool for the battery base, Dewalt makes the DCA1820 which should work also.

      ebay also has 3d printed battery recievers with +/- leads so you don't neet to canibalize a tool.

    Now that was worth watching man ! ! ! Great video, lighting was good, even, no harsh shadows. Wish I could build one for myself. I AM a DIY guy but, don't know alot about electricity. Too bad DeWalt doesn't make one as good as you made for yourself ;)

    I built something just like this and fried the circuit board because of a lack of ventilation. When I figure out how to keep it cool I’ll repost and maybe even make a video. It ran just about 20min before it was cooked. I basically built a small oven. Super bright with great light tho!

    With this helpful informative video I converted a rechargable 2500lm led light from walmart to use makita batteries, I am a drywall finisher so this so this light has taken some serious abuse! I even dropped it from a 6ft scaffold and it still works! And its exposed to fine drywall dust, I've been using it for at least 6months and no issues at all. The makita bms board does it job, and I installed a drok buck down Converter from amazon and I believe that's even more added protection, since it has a overheat shutoff chip. And not to mention the rechargable led light from walmart also has a overheat shutoff chip. The led light is also a combination of aluminum and plastic reinforced with some kind of heat resistant fiber. Safe to say, this little 2500lm light can take the heat, and I get 5hrs worth of light from a 5ah battery I will post a video on the construction of the led light soon!

But now I'm really better to speak in English , it is just hard to get rid of this accent! 🤣 Thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment, new projects coming soon! 😉

    The best thing I've seen in a while is usi g imperial measurment, and putting metric aswell, that should be a requirement, because personally I know how to use both, but it's alot more helpful just to add both of them.would be a good idea to put magnets on the feet, have seen worklights that had magnets instead of those runner feet, and had a very thin rubber layer, could stick it on the bonnet(hood) when open and work.

    got all my components today :D but one thing struck me. is it the batteries or the tool that contains a limiter so u dont run out the battery completely?
    i mean like when i use my impact drill, and the battery goes low, the machine(or is it the battery :D) stops so i can not completely empty the battery.
    Makita 3.0mAh battery im talking about.

    when i completed my own light i thought of the following. both the makita(wich i used) and the dewalt machines have built in protection not to drain the battery completely, could it be possible to incorporate that into the light? if so, what is needed. my batteryholder i stripped from a handheld makita light (wich i assume has the type of circuit board. not sure how it all works though :D)

    I shudder to think what the LEDs feel like being baked inside a small plastic container. Should've used a metal one with thermal interface between the LEDs and the metal.
    Yes, they are on a metal sheet, but all the heat is still radiated into the thermally insulated container.

    • @SEBTECHDIY
      @SEBTECHDIY  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi!
      Charge your batteries when you drop from two bars to one. Charge your batteries before that are completely dead. Even though you may still have 15% - 25% remaining when you hit one bar, you’ll significantly extend the lifespan of it by swapping it out sooner. Theses batteries are pretty tough, if by accident you over discharge the battery, it is still possible to "revive" it by boosting your battery with another battery pack. But again, when you drop to 1 bar, swap the battery with a fresh one. ;)
