- The way a project car drives drastically affects the driver experience. This trans mounted shifter adapter and short throw shifter for the 300zx z32 has got to be my favorite mod to the car so far!
The KA24de is an under powered engine to begin with, but placing it in a heavier chassis with longer gearing makes it that much harder to drift. After a couple attempts I started to get the hang of hucking the 300zx into the turn to carry momentum. progress!

I built my own 4door r32 skyline, it was fully rusted, no back, no rapids, no floor...shock absorber tower went down - i weld a front quarter from another sky and many other mods... The big washer included with the shifter goes under the shifter boot to help hold it up. Just put one a few weeks ago.

With a bit more power and a bit more torque I can see this sick Z hitting some pretty clean drifts, love how far the Z has come as well as the other cars, can't wait to see more!
the induction noise on the z is insane!! that intake pipe really made a big difference
my guess is the KA is somewhere around 130hp maybe high 120s love seeing this car get put to work on the track cant wait to see it progress into a proper drift car this really just the beginning

Finaly some mods for 300zx. Cant wait for the paintjob, It would look great
I build myself a short throw shifter on my Audi 80 by just using a higher shift bushing from a golf mk1 and was super satisfied by the short throw compared to stock. But what really changed the throw and shortened it even more was using one of those hollow 10$ aluminum shifters with the plastic adapters. I screwed it down all the way until it bottomed out and now it really feels even more clicky and shorter while shifting. It feels amazing for a street car.

I have a 91 240 with 320,000 miles completely stock original drivetrain and clean for the miles. Double overhead cam ka as well and it still runs really well
Hope that shifter break in a bit. Still sounds a little chunky. But it's amazing to see the Z coming into it. TIM the T6's look right on the infinity. Both great cars. Play at the track and drive em home .

0:16 When you mentioned you grabbed 2nd gear a little too hard it gave me the biggest grin, just yesterday I hurt the transmission in my truck the same way! 🤣 Nv35s aren’t rated for much power though.
lets goooo Z32! I realize yours is a 2+2, so a bit longer, prolly helps with the drifting. the 2+0s are a bit more difficult to hold a drift with.

Im very keen to see the 300z turbo, love the little ute / truck motor the 240's came with in the states, we have this motor here in Australia, came in the d21 and d22 navara utes (utility) you guys got the d21 also but only SOHC, awesome motors 👌🏾🇦🇺
86 acknowledged 4AGE POWER!!!!! my aw11 mr2 has the same engine, but with a fwd transmission and in the back of the car. And I want an 86 so bad, but there are some other good cars I think I can hopefully find for a good price. Ive been drifting on the sim for a little over a year now with the most realistic setups I can have, and I go to our track and have gotten ride alongs at drifting and Time attack and am getting my license this year.

Wire wheel any loose rust, and throw that shifter plate in a container of evaporust or rust911 and it'll strip all that rust without trashing whatever good metal is left. Then just scruff, degrease, and paint and good to go for another couple decades... I thought the DE engines were rated at 155 HP or something like that?

the 140hp stock must be flywheel. My guess would be 92 whp on the dyno.

I'd keep the old shift plate. But sand it down a bit and paint it. Side note, a gated shifter would look so sick in the Z. If there is such a thing for it.
