      To be honest, I don't think there is a right way or a wrong way to fold your quilts. 🤷 I think everyone should do what feels good for them - I'm just presenting one option among many. I'm glad you liked the tutorial and hope it helps you have less-creased quilts! 👍

  • @rrmother3748

    Awesome!! I learned that every so often, you should unfold then refold your quilts a different way to avoid straining the fabric in the same spot each time, but I never know quite how to do that. Now I know I can do this instead! Thank you thank you!!! Oh, and tell Claire I said HI!!!

    • @matantequilting

    This looks like a great idea. What about quilts set en point? Should those be folded the 'normal' way since the staight of grain is already diagonal?

    • @matantequilting
      @matantequilting  Před 6 měsíci +5

      That is exactly correct! Quilts that are set on point should be folded the "normal" way in order to avoid harsh creases. 👍

    I'm new to quilting, so this gets me off to a great start for folding my finished quilts. I have 2 that are gifts. I think I will fold them so that the quilt label with the baby's name will be facing out when they're unwrapped. I also have community and state fairs that I'll be entering a couple other quilts in this summer, now I can deliver them to the fairs safely folded.
    I also have a quilt from my childhood that needs refolding. I'll be right back.

    I’ve quilted for decades, but I’ve only heard of this quilting method in recent months-thanks to the internet. No guilds near me. As quilters, we understand why we should follow that folding method, but I think that many-most?- of our quilts are gifts to others or donations. We need to educate them.
    Curious…Do you send a note-or your guide-re folding with your quilts when you return them to your clients and others?
    Thank you for the pdf! I’ll definitely be I; clouding that when gifting future quilts!

    Thank you. Your directions are very clear. My only wish is that you had folded a large quilt. My quilts are queen to king size. It was an aerobic exercise to get them folded. The square rectangle bundle I ended up with is very large. It takes up way more space. My smaller quilts folded up just fine. I don’t see a solution.

    I saw Mary Fons talk about this years ago and began to fold my quilts on the bias…..but they still left terrible crease lines and looked even worse when I hung them because the creases were on an angle when the blocks where all square. I’m not sure why this happened. Anyway, I have rolled my quilts on empty upholstery tubes ever since. The downside is I can’t display them pretty on a shelf like you do. I still enjoyed your video though 😊

    • @matantequilting
