    I do not see in any of the Black Magic presets where you can turn on/off MIC 1 & Mic 2. I created a marco to do this but I cant seem to get the button to change color when I press it on and then go back to the original color when turning it off. It would be nice to have that visual cue on the stream deck button. Can that be done when contorling a marco?

    • @davidjoshuaford
      @davidjoshuaford  Před rokem

      Howdy- you don’t need a macro to do this. The ATEM companion module can operate audio - search Fairlight under the actions

    That was a nice intro pan from your top camera . I'am sure It is not a from a camera drone flying in your studio (LOL) . Downloaded your Atem Demo config to test VLC on Ipad . Also will try to test this on companion as a plugin on the streamdeck Ipad app.Thanks.

    I kinda like this format, you don't have to interrupt the flow, stop and think and then answer a question. The topic gets covered, people can scroll back and play it again if needed. It's seems more casual, and you're on the chat during the whole thing. I know it's a pain to pre-record/edit stuff, but seems less stressful being on the spot to break the flow of what you were saying to answer a question.

    • @davidjoshuaford
      @davidjoshuaford  Před rokem

      Thanks Eric. The biggest advantage of this format for me is a flexible production schedule if I have a conflict for Fridays 10am. (Or a baby!). The "as-live" format removes the majority of the post work because all the switching is done live. It's a cleaner tutorial delivery for an "ever-green long-tail" than answering live questions, although the pure live Q&A helps when I have less time to prepare a subject during the week. Thanks for the feedback - I'll keep this format in the mix!

    Hello David ... I see you are using H2R Graphics together with Companion..
    I have a problem that I am unable to solve with my current level of understanding of Companion. I hope you might know the answert 🙂
    I use H2R Graphics to output and control graphics for a test project. I use Fill & Key signals from H2R Graphics into 2 inputs on an Atem feeding DSK 1 Fill and Key. DSK 1 is always on air.
    H2R Graphics has several modules that can be set to remove itself from the output after a spesific amount of time. The L3ds can i.e. be set to have a duration and I then automatically taken off air after that time.
    It also has a Video playback module that performes in a similar way. The Video vill automatically be taken off air then it reached the end of the videofile (duration).
    I am searching for a way to automatically control the routing for AUX 1 output bases on the Video Module been On Air or Off Air. When a Video is playing the AUX 1 must show PGM (because the video is now full screen on DSK 1), and when Video is NOT playing the AUX 1 must show a spesific source (i.e. the Presenter PC output)
    I am able to make the first part work (AUX 1 to PGM) ... by assigning a Atem AUX 1 routing Macro to the H2R Graphics VIDEO button in Companion
    I an currently NOT ABLE to make the second part work (AUX 1 to SPESIFIC SOURCE), as I need to run another ATEM AUX 1 routing macro when the video is automatically taken OFF AIR.
    Do you know if this is at all possible? and if it is.... how 🙂
    Have a great day .
    Kind regards Nils Morten Alexandersen

    What kind of procedures and documentation do you use for OS and Software updates? Are certain software dependencies like Elgato Stream Deck and Bit Focus Companion upgrade procedures different than mere updates? Any Back up procedures? Or can you point me to somebody who does this?

    • @davidjoshuaford
      @davidjoshuaford  Před 20 dny

      For the Stream Deck hardware, I just update via Elgato's native software. Then for Companion, export a back up of your configuration, then just boot up the new version. There's not usually a stream deck hardware update that makes it incompatible with Companion, but if there is then it's usually updated by the Companion team within two weeks.

    I was unable to download the files for the stream deck xl (32). It came through as a 14-day trial and am I correct in understanding it's only the cover images and not the controls/actions?

    Roll back from companion 3.01 to 2.4. Got a VLC connection error even if vlc v3.01 or vlc 1..11 is running . We can read on the help page: Due to the nature of the feedback and play list synchronization, the module status shows ERROR if VLC is not running yet. This is normal. It is to let you know that buttons may not work as expected. The status will automatically change to OK when you start VLC. The Reaper module is for companion V 1.1 ??? but displays green in the status and working. The VLC module is for VLC 1.15??? red in the status

    😊Working on w10. Companion v3.1 beta that has new VLC module v 2.32. Be sure to enable on main interface VLC Remote Control and Telnet. Not sure but fill also the LUA telnet password. Strange that in the Help some red lines missing. Default in VLC telnet and remote control are not enabled.

    On MAC intel ventura companion 3.1 beta your demo config with your VLC module will crash the VLC module . With the recent 2.32 VLC module it will display 401 error in red. The streamdeck VLC plugin is working ok.

    • @davidjoshuaford
      @davidjoshuaford  Před 10 měsíci

      Same on the Mac ARM version - looks like something in the new betas has broken. But, as a work around, export the VLC page, delete the module from Companion, then add a new blank VLC module, then reimport the VLC config file and patch it to the new module - this will make it work with the most recent beta.

    • @NickFromNetherlands
      @NickFromNetherlands Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks. Will deinstall 3.1 and install V2.4 and see if your embedded VLC module will work? Will try that

      @@davidjoshuaford Your template is not that special for VLC. The companion template has transport functions and playlist display. So in 10 sec. and we make a demo panel. But the new VLC module 2.32 in 3.1 beta will show red 401 error at the moment even when VLC is active.

    This was awesome! I have a 15 button Stream Deck - Is it possible on the button tab to only show 15 buttons? I expect that it shows 24 buttons incase you want to use Emulator.

    • @davidjoshuaford
      @davidjoshuaford  Před rokem

      The standard Companion layout is 32 buttons and can’t be changed. But it does show an outline of where the 15 button stream deck will fall, and then you can ignore the additional canvas, or use those buttons as a clipboard to cut and paste buttons and store them offscreen.

    I wish ALL MAc production would get binned. Please point to a REAL production setup for a creator that uses PCs/tablets NOT made by the iCult.
