- Welcome!
In this video, we transform an old, junkyard condition virago into a fire-breathing (literally!) Mad Max style Custom Bobber, ready for the Wastelands! I utilized two T28 turbochargers in Draw-Thru configuration on this turbo setup, with two VM-38 carbs.
If you are even moderately interested in turbocharging your carb'd bike but feel overwhelmed, or don't know where to start, my "How-to: Turbocharge your Vintage Motorcycle From Scratch, Draw-Thru and Blow-Thru - A Complete Guide" video covers EVERY detail you need to know. Pitot tubes, Carbon Sealing, Draw-thru/Blow Thru pro's/con's, setting up carbs for boost, vacuum routing, fuel pump selection, fuel pressure regulator selection is all covered in this almost 50 minute long video that breaks down everything you need to know.
There's also 10 more exclusive how-to videos, covering tank painting w/rattle can, lowering forks, carbon sealing your turbo, how to lace a motorcycle wheel and a half-dozen more. Come join us!

We used to put ASMR in the title but figure that it's probably best to let the viewer determine if it falls in that category themselves. - Zábava

So you fabricated all your parts by hand, made your electrical plugs yourself, did all the math for the turbos, welded your own exhaust, polished your parts by hand. I know I've forgotten some things... You are a top notch mechanic, fabricator, welder, electrician. My hat is off to you. GREAT job. Thanks.
He’s not human
maybe he touches the hand of Jhonny sins
Nice
This video checks ALL the boxes. ASMR restoration, motorcycle content, engineering, fabrication, I could go on. 👏 👏
Please dont stop!
I agree with you.
One think i not like that much is how he is using his tools. like the anglegrinder without guard, or using the ratchet wrench for opening. And it would drive me crazy when the vice is not fixed to the workbench.
no waifus
That Exhaust sound with Twin Turbo's whistle is amazing🔥
Turbos aren't supposed to whistle.. Unless the bearings are shot. They suckkkkk
Ohhh, here goes my 37mins meditation session. Thanks a lot for doing it. It all looks smooth in the final cut but I can't imagine how much of time and effort was spent producing this video.
Thanks! Yeah these videos are quite a lot of work.
Not often I watch long videos in their entirety, but this was definitely one of those rare times. Great video -- the asmr bits are amazing lol
What I do with the long and pretty much all vids.
On mobile 📱, is tap top right on the gear/settings and set playback speed at 2x. To consume twice the content.
not a fan of ASMR. it triggers me and it's annoying.
Can’t believe I watched from beginning to end, great build !
Dude this video was so helpful! My local shop didn't want a bar of it, 02 wideglide, older bike and blow through set up they thought I was mad. I am trying to do the conversion right now on a real budget and as many spare parts as possible 😂
Those front firing exhausts coming off the turbos look so gnarly. That is a sick bike build.
I usually skip to the end when I watch someones build. I watched this video from start to finish. Amazing build bud! 😎🤙🤙
That Exhaust sound with Twin Turbo's whistle is amazing. Those welding jobs were on point my man! keep it up!.
Thanks! Will do!
Dear mechanic.
You are a great mechanic with so many ideas, and with love i will follow your youtube.
this guy is the real ghost rider man. Everything he touches becomes a monster of a machine!!! Heck YEAH!!!
Love the turbo builds mate. Would love to see a dyno episode just to see improvement in power.
I would like to see that episode 🙂
would be 0 improvement to power, if anything the engine would make less especially with each turbo running off a single cylinder, you can even hear that the turbines are barely spinning
@@thomasodea8381 Even still, it would be a good comparison between stock and twin turbo with or without improvement. It looks like it's making decent boost though.
@@thomasodea8381 Wrong, and comments like this are why Is started posting timed acceleration runs at the end of the video. A Yamaha Virago is a giant turd stock, putting on turbo's with low boost takes it from a giant turd to just a turd. I'm building another twin turbo setup on my GS400 that's going to be GT15 turbo's on a little 400cc bike. But this time, I'm converting the bike to E85 and running 15psi of boost. I'd like it to be able to crack 100 crank HP, which I think with enough boost (closer to 20psi) it could be done. And maybe I'll even throw it on the dyno just to prove clowns like you wrong.
Killing it man! Another beautiful build, can’t wait to get mine going!
I truly appreciate leaving in the mistakes. I can get in my own head sometimes, and seeing that even the the best of us aren’t perfect help me keep trying 🙏
Wow man how satisfying it was to watch you build that bike by hand, doing everything yourself. Amazing amazing job!!
I love these style builds. Really makes me want to get one some day.
Hey bro, why wait and get one one day down the road when you can actually go to a scrapyard or a junkyard and find old Beatdown s*** and restore it yourself. I'll tell you a secret. You're talking to the guy that's working on the first flying electric motorcycle that's right I'm working on a project called the hyperbike it's a hubless wheel design a bike that runs on hydrogen you put water in the hydrogen this cell with two tablespoons of sea salt and a tablespoon of zinc. You close the lid you push the button that powers up the capacitor which then causes the hydrogen the cell to start bubbling producing hydrogen when that hydrogen starts producing you then hit the other button on the starter and the combustion engine that's converted to run on hydrogen which is a small 4-stroke engine Flyers off and start spinning for motorcycle stators those skaters then stack power into 4 full farad capacitors which the engines for the Drone flight mode run on so that there is plenty of power to draw from. But it all is powered by a 5-volt phone charger and a dollar store solar panel. I figured out that if you wire the solar panel to the battery nacelle you can charge a regular 5 V cell phone battery nacelle with a 2in by 5 in solar panel from the local dollar stores😅😅😅 that with a 5 volt to 24 volt Step Up allows you to increase the voltage to 72 volts by using a step up in a Transformer from a microwave. I've also taken a 6400 V flashback capacitor which is a line capacitor from a microwave which keeps power from reverberating through your power system cooking your plugs and all that in the wall lol that's installed so if there's any electrical issues the flow of electricity stays constant along with the use of the capacitors. The exhaust from the combustion engine is pure water I've designed a way to catch that water in wicking in the exhaust and have a drain through something I created called The Whistle valve the pressure from the exhaust pushing the water through the whistle valve create enriched hydrogen when the water returns to a catchment tank with a float and a small hydrogen enrichment system similar to the one on the main tank that fuels the bike. When the tank runs low the enrichment tank from the exhaust which is been reading Ridgewood pure hydrogen is pumped into the tank it's almost completely self-replicating. If I could do what I wanted to do with magnets and Mercury I wouldn't need an engine at all but unfortunately every time I try to patent my device they keep denying it and telling me that if I put it out in the public they're going to put me under a prison somewhere. They don't want you guys to know that if you put mercury inside of a copper ball and put magnets on either side it creates a massive amounts of energy so much in fact you can hook that Implement device to a Ford Model T spark gap and put to contacts inside of the box those two contacts will receive massive amounts of plasma energy exchange from the Ford Model T spark Gap when that happens it's like a lightning storm inside of a box. They made it illegal to use one of those Model T spark gaps unsealed back in the 30s why because they knew that if you use that spark gap on a generator you can create free energy for up to 1,000 homes😅😅😅😅 I'm a beast dude I've been studying this s*** for more than a minute you are f****** insane for putting twin turbos on a little bike like that if you're going to do that bro you might as well go big and get a 30-shot bottle of nitrous and put extended travel on it take it to the drag track my friend take it to the drag track
That is a really nice lookin bike. The battery box was a nice touch. If only time and money didn't get in the way. Great work.
Thanks 👍
Wow, after some 40 years someone builds a XV920 I would love to ride. Well done!
Maybe do it live, man you know the business, this machine was angry. Congratulations.
Your close up video footage on the small things puts you far ahead in my book. So many other YooToobers just don't get it. You are an actual Jack-of-all-trades. Great work. Wish I had seen your channel sooner. Better late than never and I'll be following in stitches from here on.
I got to hand you something I started watching this video reluctantly because I've had a couple big viragos. And I'm not a fan at all of them. But somehow you made it interesting and have to watch the whole video and you actually made that Virago interesting. You actually made a big Virago interesting my hat's off to you
I loved the Virago when it 1st came out. This one is a bad, bad mama jama! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
That's really awesome and enertaning! Showing the whole process including flaws is great! Keep up making such cool product!
Those welding jobs were on point my man! keep it up!
I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this video. please make some more.
I'm totally not into motorcycles, but it was pleasure to watch!
I wish my garage-turbocharged K11 Micra will be done such a clean way...
Love your channel. I wish I lived close so I could have you turbo my GPZ 550 Kawa. I've Mad Max it out and putting your turbo set up on it would put it over the top. But I live in the New England area. Keep up the original and unique work.
Awesome job! Love the editing style and educational nature of the whole thing. 👍👍
You sir are a serious craft man. Bravo from France 🇫🇷
The hairspray tip seems worth a try! Thanks!
thats now my favorite sounding bike, no joke.
seriously well done.
Thanks! Check out the latest build video if you enjoyed this one 👍
Really sick build! I love the twin turbo configuration. Looks so clean and perfect for that engine. Really nice.
What about one with long exhaust pipes instead of short? Imagine those pipes at the back spitting fire.
The spitting fire is intented as signaling lights 🐌 not exactly like mine´s.
voce é um artista!! que dom maravilhoso que voce tem, parabens!!
🤣🤣The grinding and sanding of the seat mount above the open carbs was driving my OCD off the chart. Great build!!!!
I love bobbers and i love turbos. This is everything
I like how you spent all that time cleaning the carbys then cut and grind metal straight into them. Was amazing
the sound that goes straight to the heart at 35:00 & 35:45
Awesome build. Thanks for the memories 🥹
NOICE!!!! Gotta love the whine of the Turbos as they spool up and then spin down, a bit warm for the legs though being right close to the knees. Cool idea for the exhaust pipes I would have routed them below the bike but shoties out the side is a cool idea, but would get people pulled over by the cops on a regular basis in my part of the world. Gotta say the polished tank looks way better than I thought it would too! great job!
i’m in agreement with you on that, because if i had a bike like that, i’d have the exhaust pipes routed down under the frame and exiting out in front of the rear tire
Awesome, Sir, I'am speech less.
13:20 i've been using those color coded, Harbor freight deep sockets on my drills for probably 15 years. Nothing super high torque just all basic, homeowner grade stuff, Oil changes, and fixing and assembling anything and everything under the sun. The best 17 bucks I've ever spent. i've been meaning to make a permanent holder for them, but they don't fall out of, but they are still on the holder. I bought them on in a swing case box in my truck bed.
That sound is to die for
I use brake cleaner when i put on new grips. Makes it super easy almost like oiled. But dries super fast and then it's like glued onto the bar👌
Really nice job again. Love your work.👍
The sound it makes idling is awesome
Looks like so much fun riding it at the end!
For sure, thought the lack of ground clearance was super obvious when cresting hills, lol
I love it that we have the same taste in how we want to build 😎
Just makes want to build another bike. It's sick dude. Sounds great too.
What a thing , absolutely love it. Some boost and power numbers would be nice.
i have no any words to judge it,but i still want to say "那实在是,泰酷啦!”🎉🎉🎉
Very cool build. I think the Mighty Wez would have been proud to have this. If he didn’t need room for his boy toy. Well done sir.
Looks great, love the wastelands style.
Handlebranches indeed! Enjoyed that one,
Hehe, forgot I left that in the video.
I have the same ultrasonic cleaner. Works awesome. Just did the head on my wr426f. Super clean
That's exactly what they're great for is cleaning for engine work, and the big one is sweet because you can fit a rack of 4 carbs and inline four heads in them 👍
watching this stuff makes me realize how little i know about internal combustion engines. makes me want to apprentice for someone like him lol
Awesome job - nice way to keep your legs warm!
Ok boomer.
You are a master of all that is motorcycle. And all other related subjects
Thank you. It's comments like this that make reading criticisms worth it.
Jack of all trades, master of ALL !
I know NOTHING about bikes, yet here I am watching through this whole video...
That bad boy is screaming loud because of twin turbo nice build bro. Your new subscriber from the Philippines
Thanks! Check out the latest build video if you enjoyed this one 👍
My assessment in one word " SUPERB ".
I love! That was my first bike... ❤ and that was 30 years ago and « she’s » always in my french barn... you give me some ideas... 😍🤣🤫🤩
Outstanding work.
Thanks I've learned some more techniques and information. I've now decided to use EP90 in My supercharged 2CV build as I'm using suck through PWK42 carbs : - )
Right on! Draw-through can be difficult to tune, so my best advice is be patient.
Little tip for rusty sheet metal, if you get some red scotch-brite and use Phosphoric acid with it, it removes the rust in about a minute or less.
Wow, those twin turbos really woke her up!!!
Thanks my man, people don't realize how painfully slow a stock Virago is, and how early the powerband signs off without boost. I'm literally revving it another 1,500RPM's higher because of the turbo's extending the powerband.
@@DoctorMotorcycle I get a similar thing in my SLK 2.3 where I get another 600 revs on the top end by spinning it faster with different pulleys and a modified ecu and the faster it goes the more boost! The top speed goes from 147 to 160 😁😁
Oh my goodness what a cool build great job and great video!!!
Great video Liz is a legend!
Very cool vibe on this bike, well done !
Moc pěkně jsi jí udělal.
very interesting. I would never have the skills to do the same, however this project is inspiring
😂 Twinturbo on a virago... Interesting approach! You can now rightly call the bike Viagro! ❤
Awesome. I was wondering why you were going to so much trouble on the chain but man that worked out.
Great job, Tip. G Clamp your vice to the bench to avoid injury. 😃
Frigging monster you build 😬🤘
Pro class installation video, you can see this guy can do it.
Amazing build. Love it. Hope you get good money for it.
Great job, a lot of work, congratulations!
Nice ! Very-relaxing to watch . I would add iridium-plugs and disconnect the rev-counter (not sure if you did, it takes pulse off rear-plug and depletes the spark ) I run my rear-plug one-grade hotter, goes-against logic but works in mine . You can also adapt a TT600 oil-pump to give better-flow and replace the crap-cam-bush-things for bearings which give more-consistent valve-clearances, lower-heat etc. The valve-springs on these early-bikes are way-too-heavy, better revs etc with later Virago-1100-springs, longer seat-life, no dropped-valves and cam-lobes last-longer . Dave NZ
Negative, you don't want to run iridium plugs on a Turbo bike, the fine pointed tip gets too hot and can contribute to pre-ignition. I always run at least 1 heat range colder as well, sometimes 2 if I'm turning the boost up. Same thing with the valve springs, you need more seat pressure w/turbo, especially because it usually extends the powerband another 1,000rpm higher as well. Cheers.
i use my breath when putting on new grips. I breathe into the grips like how u would fog up a glass and then quickly shove the grips on. works everytime. I miss building bikes.
Man love the aimo box idea!
This was a sick build!
Thanks Frank, check out the latest build video if you enjoyed this one!
@@DoctorMotorcycle welcome, alrighty will do
Man your skill is unreal
Beautiful a restore and a cleaning👍☺🙏✋
I love your cleaning but damn this started out cleaner than any used bike I’ve ever bought lol the floats and slides are usually totally covered in sticky brown varnish on all the bikes I pick up here lol
The previous owner said he made an attempt to start the bike/get it running and I don't think he was successful. As you can see the floats were pretty much inoperable so it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't turn over and they threw in the towel and it became a parts bike. I was surprised to at how well (the motor especially) cleaned up for a bike that's been sitting outside for at least a year
Thanks for the Hairspray tip
Great build and great sound 👌
Total wickedness👍👍👍
Awesome job…thanks for sharing!!👍👍
Sounds so good…. Bet the video doesn’t do justice for it….great build man
Fantastico, excelente profissional.
great content. thank you for sharing. have a nice day!❤👍
Menuda obra de arte.
I enjoyed that he was relatable in the fact that you don’t always get it all right 100% of the time, what you think will work might not and I appreciated the fact that he showed us that… extremely relatable video… until he whipped out the 3D printer
Wow twin turbos it reminds me when I worked for a Kawasaki dealer in NC. In the mid 80’s and he sold a turbocharged GPZ 750 . The fellow that bought it thought he would clean it up spic and spam , he spent almost a half hour shining it but he made one mistake. He sprayed armourall on the seat. Well if you think about it you already know what happened next, he took it out on a local high way to open it up and when he did he found himself sitting on an out of control rocket trying to use the taillight for a seat. After taking what was probably a second to gather himself and release the throttle he managed to get it stopped. I figured he probably coughed up his guts and then he returned to ask if we had anything to remove the armourall.
@DoctorMotortcycle, first of all, I love your channel and its content. Secondly, I love this particular build in particular, I loved it. I own a Yamaha SR 250 Special, although I have never considered modifying its performance, I have converted it into a Bobber, but nothing more than that. I would love to see a build of yours on that base, classic Bobber style with twin turbo and displacement increase. It could be a build focused on "beginners with a humble or tight budget".
Best regards.
Thanks, though I don't do small bikes any more because they're so hard to sell. Generally, bikes under 500cc are a really hard sell in the USA because there's really no laws or limitations regarding engine size, and people tend to want bikes that can cruise at 70MPH+. Cheers
Nice job. I love your content. Wonder why i haven't got a notification of this. Or then I've just swiped it aside
Thanks, must be the mysterious algorithm
This thing is the Madest Maxier bike ever
It is not forks it is a fork ! 🦍
