  • Casino History was a series of videos I made on the Velvet The Lion CZcams channel that went over the history of many different casinos in Las Vegas. The videos were deleted since the original channel was completely removed as well. While my current channel, Jaggy the Jaguar, is more focused towards gaming and game collecting-related content, this will be an exception. Almost all Casino History videos will be uploaded (One every two days) due to it's popularity, though they will be edited due to copyright issues and the fact that the series is no longer continuing.
    I've definitely learned from this series as many people have criticized it for my poor narration, pronunciation of various names and words, and inaccurate facts.
    For some reason, I never bothered to credit the CZcamsr who provided the drone footage seen in the intro when these videos were first uploaded. His name is Curtis Billy Haines Jr.
    Original video: • Las Vegas Aerial 4k St...
    Channel: / @curtisbillyhainesjr5214
    ========================================
    This was the Casino History video that focused on a hotel and casino that would be imploded to make way for a new resort, which was the Desert Inn. We view it's history with multiple companies, it's rise to fame, and it's eventual downfall and implosion.

    Great channel.. it would be nice to see where all those hotels stood in relation to what's in their place today. I remember fascinating journey of strip malls, gas stations, car rental agencies, banks, motels, hustlers, and more from the 60's all the way to today. Now, at 74, while driving Uber, I share stories about the transition of The Strip and all of LV. I'll pass on this channel for those who care to know more. Sounds corny, but it is heartwarming.. paz

      Desert Inn was my favorite. I still, to this day, wear my 2 Desert Inn gray with red lettering pullover shirts. Ah, the memories.

    Went to the Wynn to see a show back in the day. Spent a few minutes on a slot before the show and won $400. WTH, I love the Wynn.

    This is a good video. I'd heard of Desert Inn and I knew the street in Las Vegas, but I wasn't sure where it was or what happened to it. (Though when you mention the golf course, I knew it was the Wynn/Encore site)

    I remember one of my first trips to Vegas we ducked into the Desert Inn and I remember seeing some of the most gorgeous women walking around that hotel. It wasn't until later did I realize they were ladies of the night. Also one of the last few times where I actually saw visitors actually dressed up, suits and dresses at the tables even.

    The Desert Inn was the only 5 star hotel on the strip to this day period!!! From the 2 story suites with pools to the penthouses in Wimbleton(FABULOUS). There were houses on the golf course aswell that had hidden tunnels and passage ways. The top floor penthouse was actually haunted by Howard Hughes(it was the St. Andrews building). One of the last real hotels from the real las vegas before cooperation's took over.

      I worked there in the mid-1970s after Hughes has vacated the place. His suites was still called the "Piss Suite," as he was urinating all over the floor in there for years. I worked at the Monte Carlo gourmet dining room. Where all the high-rollers were compted to. Oh yeah, and I lived in the "Mark One Tower" high-rise apartments at 1020 East Desert Inn Road. That one opened in 1975, an all-glass tower.

    Very thorough and informative. However, the voice-over seems a bit rush. Perhaps, speaking a bit slower would help dispell the impression of being in a terrible hurry

    Did not gamble much at the desert inn did see Willie Nelson there I. Concert in the 90"s. Unfortunately after they tried to bring back renovations it didn't help and the desert inn finally closed and like so many are just a part of Vegas history.

    • @frankfarago2825
      @frankfarago2825 Před rokem +2

      It is the absolute pits. A two bits AI voice generator would do a much, much better job. With this clip, you gotta turn down the volume to zero and just read the CC subtitles.

    • @rmp5s
      @rmp5s Před rokem +1

      @@frankfarago2825 Yea, that's one way to do it. I couldn't watch it. It was so bad. Perfect example of how audio is the most important part of a video. You can have the best video ever, but if no one can hear you, no one will watch.

  • @frankfarago2825
    @frankfarago2825 Před rokem +1

    Narrator has some sort of a speech impediment. Unless your first langauage is English and you can cipher through whatever he says, give this one a pass. I turned down the narration volume to zero and followed the video via the CC close caption subtitles. You are bettert off. But 8 minutes into it, I got really bored.
