  • I am having problems with this car loosing power. cuts off at red light, hard start. CEL-Check engine light code P0171 fuel system lean bank 1. After doing some research, I decided to clean the throttle body to see if this helps.
    This is a 2004 Nissan Sentra 1.8L
Once the Throttle body is removed, it must be relearned as to the correcting settings for Accelerated Pedal, Released Position Learn, Throttle Valve Closed Position Learn, Idle Air, Volume Learn.
    Procedure
Step 1- warm the engine up to normal operating temp.
Step 2- shut off car wait 10 seconds
Step 3- turn key to "ON" position wait 3 seconds
Step 4- fully press gas pedal 5 times within 5 seconds
Step 5- fully release has pedal wait 7 seconds
Step 6- fully press gas pedal down and hold for 20 seconds engine light should be blinking
Step 7- once engine light turns solid release gas pedal fully within 3 seconds of it turning solid
Step 8- shut off car wait 10 seconds to turn car on
This Procedure applies to the following:
    Make/Model/Year/Cylinder/Liters
    INFINITI G35 2003 - 2006 V6 3.5L

Always use a new gasket and check the rubber intake boot for cracks. Replace if necessary.
Use die-electrical grease to keep moisture out of the electrical connections.

My 2000 was running rough and I simply unhooked breather hose and put a shop rag under the throttle body and kept saturating it with Berrymans b-12 chemtool throttle body spray cleaner and kept wiping the dirt out as it flushed carbon deposits out, it was hard to start afterwards but it started and has ran great. plus b-12 chemtool injection system cleaner in the Gas ⛽ tank.

Hey, good video. Quick question though… How do u know if you should change the throttle position sensor or the pedal position sensor. My code reader kind of combines them both into one code so I don’t know which to replace. Any help would be great. Going to get a fuel pressure gauge tomorrow to check that too. • @lovetrump1088
      @lovetrump1088 Před 2 lety +1

@@BARR8323 Limp mode is a Factory prescribed setting that will force your vehicle...including your Sentra, to NOT run over ??? RPM's to prevent any damage to the Powertrain. The idea is that by limiting the RPM's, you can still drive your car...but only very slowly to get it off the road and to get it repaired---they say..."to a dealer" (which none of us can do with our old Nissans - thus why we fix them ourselves).
Bad news...is lots of problems can cause your car to go into Limp mode, as mine 'appears' to be in now.
I say appears...as I have a P1574 TP Sensors Disagree code, among a few others on misfires also. But that is new one and I think the mis-aligned TP sensors means my 2004 Sentra is Revs/Runs great in PARK..but when I put it in gear I have Zero Throttle response - 750-1000 RPM's. Which is sometimes...like I did at first....mistaken for "Limp Mode". Anyone have this issue with the TP Sensor disagreement let me know.....if u fixed yours. My car is stuck in parking lot now.

Frank Montez when my problems started I dismissed the fuel pump because it was a year old, my wife would drive and all of a sudden it lost power, sluggish at stop lights. Since the pump was approximately a year old never suspected it. Sometimes I get intermittent CEL running lean, I clear the code and look at other parts that could fail. After all the parts I replaced, it circled back to the pump. If you know your coil packs are good, plugs are good, just do process of elimination and don’t dismiss the obvious. You need a certain amount of fuel pressure to keep the engine running, so start by checking fuel pressure.

While P0420 does not pose a danger to the driver, it can cause driveability concerns such as a lack of power or poor acceleration if left unrepaired. It can also cause severe damage to other components of your vehicle if not addressed in a timely manner. P0420 typically means that a converter has worn out or degraded-not obstructed or clogged. But if the case is the latter, it can lead to engine performance problems, such as a lack of power, rough idling, and stalling, which are some of the common signs of a clogged catalytic converter. When the voltage coming from the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is low but within range, a P1102 trouble code is stored. This is what I found online.

Harbor Freight have a kit, look for the fuel line coming up under the hood from the pump, disconnect it and the gauge goes in line. The pressure be approximately 50psi. If your pressure is not there start checking what you checked before. The only reason I say Pump is I went through a few pumps and the last on had me baffled because it was 6 months old and I thought it was something else so I did sensors and throttle body, nothing worked so once I connect the gauge and rev the car let it warmed up noticed pressure was off, swapped the pump out I went a little more expensive and worked good.
