      Thank you very much! Ya the microwave transformer has a lot more power. The other fractal wood burner I have is closer to a neon light transformer voltage wise and it burns much slower and smaller. But you can still get some really cool buns you just need a little patience!

    Great piece, I used to do this years ago and yes you need a kill switch ( never got it foot operated though :( I also had an audible alarm when it was live and a beacon coming off the heater winding of the Microwave TXR. These things have killed and injured many people. Watching this has given me a wish to do it again.

    • @bruceburnswoodshop1620
      @bruceburnswoodshop1620  Před 2 měsíci

    • @frankensteinrockerfeller7265
      @frankensteinrockerfeller7265 Před 2 měsíci

      If I did not press the the kill switch down nothing energises and it did not latch so I guess its a deadman switch too. One thing I did do which looking back was way more dangerous but gave nice effects was having one electrode attached to a Nylon rod about metre long which I used to touch the wood and do finer work. Love all the other stuff you have to work the wood!@@bruceburnswoodshop1620

    I’m an artist, welder, sculptor etc. My dad’s a welder, firefighter and has many other trades under his belt and my grandpa was a master woodworker and built instruments too. So after seeing some bad injuries growing up, I have a healthy fear of engines, chainsaws, electric machines etc. I was always told to respect the tool!! My dad always says the machine doesn’t care if it cuts your finger off or injures you in other ways, it’s important keep safety as your number 1 priority!
    Often times using tools without paying attention to what you’re doing 110% is when you get hurt. Especially when working with fast moving parts or electricity.
    If there’s anything I’d suggest for your videos is to tell people to RESPECT THE TOOL and keep safety as your #1 priority. Thanks for sharing your videos! They’re neat to watch!

    Badass pieces. Fractal wood burning is scary. I've been doing electrical work for 15 years or so mainly on the dc automotive side but still understand how dangerous it is.
    What are the mountains being used for? The one thing I was curious about was if they are using them as wall pieces they may be rough to hang with the way you lobbed off the peaks on your backing. Couldn't you have just used luan as the backing and it would've been easier to form to the mountains? Either way, kick ass job!!!

    • @bruceburnswoodshop1620
      @bruceburnswoodshop1620  Před 9 měsíci

      Yup super dangerous!
      It’s being used as a wall art piece, I used a string tied to 2 equally spaced screws in the back. This method makes it really easy to get it balanced perfectly.

I like the idea a lot better than having it just out in the open while using, Just an accident waiting to happen. I got recommended this video asking an AI for some inspiration on what I can do with my random assortment of boards I have burned and filled with epoxy and coated like yours. • @Woodburnworks
      @Woodburnworks Před 5 měsíci

      @@seanweiss6729 what’s making you blow through them? you just holding down on it full blast letting it arc? jw, I’ve only had one or two blowout on me so far in the last couple years and those are off just random old microwaves. I always do my burns in “burst”, using a foot petal to tap it on and off sometimes to manage the heat buildup from continuous arcing, and a variac could be useful for you too, i have one but idk how i feel about it yet, wasn’t getting as much power throat as I wanted but there’s about 5 to 10 different factors that could’ve contributed to that instead of just the variac. Really wanting to get a neon sign transformer at some point, I heard those things work a lot better if you get a good one and can make better patterns because of the higher voltage, unless burning through material, charging it from just the raw heat of the high amps from mot.

      Thanks bro! And you can find them for sale on lichtenberg wood burning .com! Unfortunately I don’t have one to spare 😂 I may be making a full series on how to do fractal wood burning on my website eventually. So stay tuned to see if that happens! Thanks for watching!
