every time i see ben's smug smirk i lose a year off my life and im pretty sure making this scene pack means i should have been dead in 2016
ok but actually i have many thoughts about ben hope and most of them are negative. but it essentially all adds up to what charlie said in ep 7. i hope ben actually does learn from his actions and becomes a better person and i hope he finds happiness, but i don't want to see that when it happens. i also think that ben ambushing charlie at lambert just so he can guilt charlie into validating his inane feelings was an absolutely wild thing to do and i am so so glad he's not coming back for season 3. i will miss bash but never in a million years will i miss ben (however i am reading solitaire rn so i still have to sit through his existence agh)

I think the reason why Ben apologized was not only to feel better about himself but it was his LAST DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO GET CHARLIE BACK. And it looks like Ben was ready to go ALL IN since not only is he sending a lot of messages to Charlie despite Charlie not replying but to also stalk him and wait for him outside of Elle’s art school (Ben’s got some issues of being REALLY CREEPY).
The way Ben was apologizing while also smiling was to try and make Charlie want to get back together with him which of course didn’t work since Nick is 100% a better boyfriend.
I wonder what people are going to say now about Ben? since Imogen called Ben out on his creepy & unhealthy obsession with Charlie which got everyone else to know about Ben being obsessed with Charlie who is now taken by Nick (Which he deserved for trying to pretend not to know him back in S1).
Despite the fact that Ben will not be in the show anymore,I’m going to miss Sebastian Croft since he does a REALLY GREAT JOB acting like a CREEPY VILLAIN. I hope Sebastian can guest star back on Heartstopper one day
I hope he returns again I love the actor for me i see Nick as Charlie’s hero/bf and Ben is the obsessive ex bf/ villain every y’know what I mean but I hope we get to see Sebastian Croft and Ben again
@@davidmendez174yeh I do too but it’s unlikely which is a shame because honestly he’s such an entertaining antagonist. He was a great foil to Nick and every time he’s on screen I was always engaged because we never knew what he was going to do.
I hope so too. Maybe when the characters graduate and Ben comes back redeemed. I would like that.
2:32 If you look closely & carefully during when Ben sat next to Charlie during dinner before Imogen called Ben out on his obsession with Charlie & broke up with him. You could see how much it parallels & identifies with the scene of a flashback back in S1 when Ben first met Charlie in the music room.
Ben sitting next to Charlie,Ben looking at Charlie very smitten,Ben putting on his charm to be nice when he tried talking to Charlie. It’s obvious that Ben is trying to do either the same thing he did when they first met or that Ben is desperately trying to get Charlie back that he STOPS PRETENDING NOT TO KNOW CHARLIE in PUBLIC & in front of people.
And if Ben wants Charlie back,he needs to get through his current boyfriend (Nick),Charlie’s friends,Charlie’s parents but MOST IMPORTANTLY Charlie’s PROTECTIVE SISTER TORI.
Since Tori can be quite intimidating when it comes to defending her brother (Like make fun of her brother & bully him,Tori is gonna threaten the bullies with their life. It’s either you leave Charlie (Her brother) alone or she’s putting you in a casket,digging your grave & making your funeral arrangements and I bet the cops would never find the bodies which could tell you that Tori can never get caught),Tori is literally the Wednesday Addams of Heartstopper (But without braids it’s her diet lemonade that is her signature look). And if Tori would know what Ben did to her brother,he’s a goner once Tori is done with him. And I’m pretty sure Tori would rather have Nick date her brother than Ben have (Who was not only a bully but a abuser to her brother).
Kids like Ben hope exist. They are the ones that don't make it.
It adds realism to the show. Sadly, they don’t.

What really worries me is how warped Ben's perspective is when it comes to his very short lived relationship with Charlie. Like he seems to really believe that they had some big romantic relationship that ended because Nick stole Charlie from him. Like he has a lot of audacity to use Charlie like a play thing when he wanted him, then get angry when Charlie decides he wants better. He keeps trying to use the excuse that Charlie "didn't give him enough time to figure himself out" but like yes the fuck he did. Charlie literally says during their big fight that he didn't have any problems with Ben not being ready to come out. Charlie of all people would know how it feels to not want that control being stolen from them like that. It's like Ben fails to realise how selfish and shitty he really was to him, yeah Charlie may have liked him for a bit. That's only cause he was giving him attention, something Charlie craved. As Charlie pointed out, Ben never asked him what he wanted, he only texted Charlie when HE wanted to. It was a cringe worthy situationship that ended because Charlie realized he was worthy of something more. More than hiding in the music room or library just to have his "bf" ignore him everywhere but when they're private. Man needs to wake tf and realize that simply saying "sorry" after assaulting someone ain't good enough, and acknowledging very little of your assholeness ain't it either. Really hope this character goes through the growth he needs, cause he is a lil delusional ngl.
[Edit] It also killed me during Charlie and Ben's fight in season 1 how Ben goes "you're just scared of getting caught." Like mf Charlie is the one whose out, you ain't gonna gaslight girlboss your way outta this 💀💀
It sucks that Ben was such a shitty character. I really wanted him to move on from Charlie and find a love of his own but I think what happened makes more sense. Removing Ben was a good idea because he was just making everyone around him miserable and nothing excuses what he did to Charlie but I wish him luck. Hopefully if he comes back to the show he’s a better person idk.
Even if Ben did find love, I think he'd end up losing it anyway if that other person knew what he did to Charlie, even if Ben was regretful about his actions. It won't matter how much he's changed in the end

This was a way for him to pay for everything he has done. Now he knows how Charlie felt when he was getting bullied.
I think of it as Ben is leaving Charlie and Nick's show. As much as we want to see beyond the frame into the lives of all the other characters, the show itself has to centre its main characters.
Sometimes a scene might stretch to Tau, Elle, Darcy, Tara, Isaac or Tori, but it usually indicates something that Nick and Charlie will interact with. We see the teachers on the trip, and then later at the dance, and that is all. We don't visit their homes or dive deeply into their heads.
Therefore, whatever Ben might do at his new school it will be very separate from what Nick and Charlie get up to
But even if he would come back 'improved' and all I don't think Charlie would even want to see him better however much he was hurt, but an improved Ben meeting Charlie would still let Ben go which Charlie clearly won't be doing.

If Ben is going to apologize properly,he NEEDS to EXPLAIN WHY HE DID THOSE THINGS TO CHARLIE. He can’t just say he really liked Charlie that it made him do those things.
I’m pretty sure back in S1 when Ben kept on saying no one is ever desperate to go out with someone like Charlie but Ben made it seem like he only said that because Ben probably wanted Charlie for himself that he needed to make sure Charlie wasn’t taken the minute Ben saw him & Nick holding hands. He was very much jealous and DEFINITELY STILL LIKED HIM,why else would he follow Charlie outside of the cinema which was a bit creepy (Bully episode)? No one would do that unless they still have feelings for their ex.
For Ben to tell Nick “Stop acting so gay for him (Charlie)” when he’s needs to TELL HIMSELF THAT (Ben only said that because he was jealous obviously).
Since during the moments of Paris,you could see how much Ben like to stare at Charlie (Especially when Ben sat next to Charlie) even when Charlie was with Nick or his friends. And don’t forget how Ben stares at Nick & Charlie’s moment when Charlie was giving him a pen during EXAM study week.
Ben needs to stop blaming Nick for “stealing Charlie from him” when actually Nick SAVED Charlie. Because was it before or after Ben tried to assault Charlie when Charlie tried to break up with him? And plus Ben wasn’t even dating Charlie anymore making Charlie single when Charlie started to have a relationship with Nick. It was SO ADORABLE how Nick & Charlie started off as a friendship but they were so close and both had romantic feelings for each other that it turned into a relationship.
It was Ben’s fault he lost Charlie. Which made Ben realize that Charlie is actually a great catch,he lost (Literally any guy would be so lucky to date Charlie). I mean Ben could of still have Charlie if Ben didn’t mistreat him so badly. And plus Ben DIDN’T WANT TO LABEL THEM as “Boyfriends” when they were still together and now Ben wants to be Charlie’s boyfriend right when Nick already taken that role?
I as with mostly others can understand his situation not being able to be your self but this feel bad because he miserable and alone nope he deserves that right now. It gave him time to reflect and see how much he hurt the person he claimed to like and want back. Even if he did have future relationships with let’s say a guy it most likely would end because Ben can’t seem to accept himself and always hiding a relationship and then having a public one for shows is not good for ANYONE. Ben kept coming at nick for being with charlie when he should’ve moved on and the imogen thing that’s not moving on that’s using someone. I mean Ben assaulted charlie didn’t stop when he told him too, threatened to expose nick and Charlie’s relationship, kept bothering him with texts after nick came out on instagram, bullied him like other and pretended to not know him, had a girlfriend while being with him, and then icing on the cake idk how this man found out that charlie was goin to be art this art show but literally ambush him to talk when charlie clearly didn’t want to. It’s good that charlie finally told him all that things that Ben did and how it affected him, but Ben had this hope (see what I did there 😂) that he could get charlie back even after all of this. Like I said I can understand his situation but just because you cannot come out about your sexuality doesn’t mean you get to have the free well to treat others you claim to like like shit and cause them pain and trauma.
I love the bass doing the same melody when Ben appears to the screen. It’s the music theme of a baddie

Did Nick have some worries that Ben was going to steal Charlie back or something? Because the way Nick looked when Ben said that he wants Charlie back looks like Nick was trying so hard to stay calm.
Also you can tell how different Ben is now from S1 since in S1,Ben likes to pretend not to know Charlie but during S2 Ben DID TRY & talk to Charlie out in the open when they were having dinner and sat next to him on purpose. Which means that you can tell how more desperate Ben is now to try and get Charlie back especially dating Imogen for either popularity points or it also could be for Ben to make Nick mad since seeing Nick with Charlie was making himself be mad that he decided to date one of Nick’s friends. And Ben also dated Imogen to try and get over Charlie.
Oh he knows Ben has no chance with Charlie. Seems to me like the look on his face was a mix of "This fucking bitch cannot be serious rn" and "I better not see him even thinking about talking to Charlie". He basically is worried that Charlie will have to deal with Ben's bullshit again. What he doesn't know it that Ben is a fucking asshole who has been harassing Charlie and texting him nonstop for a while. If Nick knew, I reckon there would've been some punches thrown.
I think during the study hall when Ben said nick was just the same kind of boyfriend as him it got to nick more than it should. Because we all know that nick and Charlie’s relationship is WAYYY different than Charlie and Bens, the main difference was the fact that ben kept bothering Charlie even after the fact Charlie told him to leave him alone and the fact that Ben made Charlie feel like CRAP along with others for being gay. Charlie understood was Ben is going through trying to figure out your sexuality and not being able to tell me because of fear, but he cheated and assaulted him and make him feel like crap and that he doesn’t exist when all Charlie wanted to to help him through it like nick. Ben is not different in season one nor two because even if by the small chance he would’ve got Charlie back he still would be the same boyfriend then too like nick said he likes to have control over him. I mean man even went as far as to see where Charlie went to because he didn’t text him back that’s creepy. I understand him and his situation and how his family will most likely never accept him but that doesn’t give him the right to do all things he done and said to both nick and Charlie nor what he was doing with Imogen. Like Charlie said good for him to know what he did was wrong but you don’t get to ambush said person you hurt and make them forgive you for the pain and trauma you caused them. That’s the only kind small redemption he can get acknowledged your wrong doings and do better in the future. Ben had this stupid hope of getting Charlie back when he could do better and respect Charlie wishes and move on.

When Ben couldn’t let that happen,he tried to assault Charlie for their “relationship” or meet up could continue but when Nick saved Charlie and Nick told him to go that was the END OF BEN KISSING CHARLIE FOR GOOD. Plus Ben wasn’t even with Charlie when Charlie started dating Nick,Charlie first formed a friendship with Nick & that friendship led to a ACTUAL relationship. That’s all that happened.
Ben might say he was nice enough not to give Charlie a hickey back then but says the guy who force himself & tried to assault Charlie WITHOUT CHARLIE’S CONSENT and now Ben is trying to scold Nick for giving his sorta-EX & now Nick’s current boyfriend a HICKEY WITH CHARLIE’S CONSENT?
Ben might of used Charlie to have control over someone while exploring his sexuality so why not go after a guy who is willing to kiss you because of them being gay? But I think at some point during Charlie & Ben’s meet ups,Ben WAS STARTING TO LIKE CHARLIE even if he won’t admit it & deny his feelings.
I mean if Ben didn’t like Charlie why was Ben even there in the parking lot to be a creep & stalk Charlie in order to know if Charlie was taken by Nick? Jealous,I assumed?
