I am new to this life of grief. My husband of 50 years passed away a week after our anniversary on May 25, 2024. I am finding it very difficult to navigate this new life without him.
I’m so sorry. May you experience God’s presence deeply in your pain.
Oh wow. Anita, as I sit here I'm asking Jesus to engulf you with his comfort and love. The only instance we have in Scripture of Jesus crying is when he wept in front of the tomb of his dear friend. He understands your grief better than anyone. You are so loved, Anita. - Brad
Praying for you 🙏❤️
I'm sorry for your loss. I am praying that you may truly experience God's Presence, Comfort and Peace as you process your grief today and in the days to come. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
❤
Just wonderful! Thank you Steve for sharing your story. I shared this with a friend who lost her daughter in a tragic accident. Also, with two other friends who recently lost loved ones.
Your childhood greatly resembled that of a very close friend. The interaction between you and John was great - bring Steve back again! Thank you both.
I'm praying now that today's episode will be encouraging to your friend who lost their daughter. I'm so sorry. And I'm praying God will use today's episode in your other friends' lives as well. - Brad
Thank you John and Steve. Steve and Dana Clifford mean more to me than I could ever express into words.❤
So glad you were listening - Steve's powerful story resonates so deeply in so many other stories Blessings Bucky
Such a powerful message. Thank you, John Ortberg for introducing us to this guy. His imagery around grief is so comforting and authentic.
So glad you were touched - Steve is definitely a master of communicating Thanks for listening Bucky
Powerful story, thank you for sharing it today. What Steve said about his grief really resonated. I loved the image of grief being like a little dog, that will stick with me. I also appreciated the insight of the other dogs, goodness and lovingkindness. Made me think about how gratitude can be an important companion on the grief journey. I forget, or don't even realize, that there are 3 dogs following me daily, that's really good. Thanks for being vulnerable and honest about your journey Steve, hearing your story was a balm to my grieving heart today. I didn't know I needed it until I heard it -- what a gift.
We are so glad you were blessed by Steve's story - to remember there are three dogs in the story is truly balm to the heart. Stay faithful Bucky
Fellowship
My brother, age 63 YO, after years of sickness, crossed over to eternal life, yesterday. This talk was timely. Thank you ❤
I pray you feel God’s arms around you in this time of grief.
I ask God to help you experience His Presence in your pain, and to give You his Peace and Comfort as you process your grief today and in the days to come. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
May Steve's words and experiences be balm for your hurting heart as you journey through this difficult season. Be Blessed Bucky
Absolutely awesome today. Lots of takeaways that I can use now. Bless you both.
Excellent. We're so happy to hear this. - Brad
Man can I relate to the thought of “ really God?” Been a faithful servant in his church and serving others and in my mind I thought that I might or should have some protection from life’s pain. Man was I wrong. Everyday it’s gets a little easier to deal with.
May God walk along side his faithful servant and journey together through life's challenges - Be Blessed Bucky
Today’s episode with Pastor Steve Clifford uncovered some German Shepherd grief over a number of losses I’ve experienced over the last 29 years. It was a time of repeated healing tears. Everyone has a story that includes pain, loss and grief that can be used by God to show compassion and mercy to other people that we encounter. Thanks for this powerful series John.
Praying you are comforted and lean into our God who walks along side you weaving comfort and hope in your story Be Blessed Bucky
I'm going thru the toughest period of my life. I appreciate the permission to stop and momentarily feel that grief. Unfortunately, I can't stop doing what I'm doing right now, but the time for all the hard work will cease, soon, and honor those feelings in full.
May guide God shepherd you through the difficult season . May you experience his strength and comfort and may hope being instilled that one day you will experience unmeasurable joy again Thank you for sharing a part of your story - as every story matters to God Blessings Bucky
I lost my daughter Nov, 2006 to drugs. Then, I lost my husband May 2008 to a sudden illness. Both extremely hard losses. The image of grief being a dog is truly beautiful... l love it! Grief never really goes away but it can become sweet remembrances. Thank you, Steve for sharing your story. ❤
Oh goodness, Joni, thank you so much for joining us today and sharing. We are thankful you are part of Become New. We all need community, especially in times of loss. Be blessed, friend.

Thank you John and Steve. I lost my beautiful 30 year old daughter unexpectedly by a PE. I can relate to every word you spoke about grief. You are so right about grief following you every minute of everyday. My only hope was Jesus and knowing my Hanna is with Jesus. I know I will see her again. Thank you for being so transparent and for sharing your heart. God bless you and your wife.💙🙏🏻💙🙏🏻

I feel well experienced now in grief. I lost my beloved husband 7 years ago. God brought me through the pain by providing me with amazing professional and personal support. I will always be processing the loss but i have consciously chosen to be better not bitter. I have learned that gratitude tempers grief but i am always working on it! Thank you Jesus!

This one has stood out as the most relevant talk to me. "The only way out is through." I bookmarked this video and have played it through prayerfully several times. Thank you for this most healing content.

This has been a truly inspiring session. I have never experienced that kind of grief. But it is encouraging to know, and to know of the experience of someone who has gone through all the pain, experiencing the human pain and at the same time also the love of God
Pastor Steve's teaching is truly impactful and one to draw upon during difficult and at time imaginable seasons. Remembering we are not alone and the love of God never leaves us Blessings Bucky
Trying to embrace NOT KNOWING what’s ahead beforehan.
Not Knowing what is ahead before hand - but rest in the peace that God is walking along side you in your journey. Blessings Bucky
Life has thrown me a LOT of curves. I know now, looking back, there are many situations in which I could have easily been dead. God brought me through all those situations and I know it's because my story on this earth wasn't finished.
Beautifully said and remembered! Thank you for sharing a part of your story with us. God Bless. Bucky
Thanks so much for this❤ Lost my sister last year and oh so heavy at times...I know she is with the good Lord, but it still makes your heart heavy with the loss...❤
🙏🏼❤️🩹🫶🏼⚘️🕊
Sorry to hear that of the loss of your sister - but may you find comfort and goodness that she is in God's arms of rest as her journey continues. Bucky
Hallelujah 🙏
Sometimes the only way to get new life is through death. When a seed dies it grows into a beautiful flourishing plant. I hear this and I hear these words and I see the flourishing life that it has created by Clay's death. So much life! And the lives that you've made and formed are likewise going to give life to so man others. It's like a domino effect. Your actions and your obedience to the Lord is simply spectacular!
Beautifully said and shared. We are grateful for your insights and that you are with us on our Story journey Bucky
This was very well done. Thank you. Love the dog analogy
Glad you enjoyed it! Have a blessed day Bucky
Just grateful
...As we are grateful for you being part of our Become New Community Blessings Bucky
A great lesson. I can identify with John mentioning how we don't often form deep relationships later in life, but I have been blessed to meet two friends who have become great pen pals. We share ideas, our likes in movies and books, stories about our families, and a whole host of other things. We also share our worries. One has very serious cancer issues and the other has cardiac issues... I have both. How does this relate to navigating grief? Maybe it's not an exact fit for today's lesson, but we also share past disappointments and things that still cause us anguish. We support each other without introducing the "shoulds." I really think it works for us because we are believers. Without being faithful in prayer... it would not work for us.
So blessed to be in deep community with your friends to be able to share the ups and downs in each one's story. Praying for each other is powerful allowing God to interweave your stories together - one day at a time. You are a treasured child of our most high God - thank you for sharing a glimpse of your story's journey Bucky
❤
We're so glad you watch along with us. - Brad
Thank you for sharing your stories. I find it difficult to share my story in the midst of living it. There are too many layers and twists and turns. I just know that the gospel promises me it will end/begin again well. Right now is a German shepherd season.
Praying you finds moment of grace and mercy during this challenging season for your - be strong stack one day on top of another - and continue to lean into God's promises Be Blessed Bucky
