Both players are so respectful to one another that show the real strength of the true character from within. They fought hard and knew the battle was worthy of the utmost respect for the game. They have played as it have of the two great minds.
It’s always heartbreaking to see Ian’s reactions. No matter who you rooted for, you knew at the end of it it was going to be bitter sweet.

I can basically see and feel the emotional rollercoaster these two were feeling... I respect them as a chess player myself. I may not be at their level, far from it, but I know the stress and struggle they felt to reach the level they are at now.

Ding deserves to be champion , even if he got lucky and was always one step behind Nepo. He never gave up till he reached the end, and at the final blow where it seemed to be a draw, he decided to push on. And became world champion

Actually, You can see in the video he was sitting on one foot.
He just got out of the swivel chair and his foot pulled the chair with him preventing him from pulling his foot out in one motion. This happens to me all the time.

@@Krunal-Music he isn't sad, he's just stunned. They were in a position where the game was a clear draw, but Ding chose an aggressive move instead of playing to draw which surprised Nepo. Nepo made an inaccurate move afterwards and ended up losing. Even the commentators were shocked by this turn of events because everyone thought it was decidedly drawn.

And this is why they refer to less physically demanding competitions like this still a sport. The absolute extreme amount of dedication, training, mental exhaustion and emotional distress to mastery is perfectly exemplified here.
Nice choice of words.its too bad that someone has to lose in any sport, sometimes that's what defines a person. This could immortalize a player in time, the winning player but plays the opposite for the loser. It could be a forever empty void for the loser. But that's sports, need to remember there's more in life than losing or winning. It's learning from it and improving. It's good to be alive.

Ding had to play almost 100 rated games (among other Chinese masters and grandmasters) in order to even qualify for the championship in the first place. Watching him struggle through that, then through the championship bracket, was truly inspirational. Congratulations, he truly deserves it.

It's also considered super disrespectful in chess tournaments to not shake hands, similar to tennis where you have to shake hands or you get disqualified
