Honestly the main reason I watch Hanks work anymore is to maintain my hope that even ADD children like me can grow to be something one day.
the key is learning actual methods to control and USE it... not to hope for the best. These methods are not mental! They are physical...breathing, pumping iron, and having things to do at the ready! Truth is, ADD is just a convenience word for 'extremely energetic' the fact it is labeled as a problem is only a result of an under-achieving education system that is not to blame! It's up to each of us, with our own challenges, to find a way to awesome.
LMAO - I started binge watching this playlist whilst I sit here doing a casting call! I've always called it accessory prep...but I love casting call!
The end of this video was everything I've been hoping for since the first video... and more!
Your campaign sounds amazing. I'm a very new DM and it's awe inspiring.
Hankerin just gets funnier every video but his advice is still sage.
I mentioned in another one of your videos, an organization system that you may be interested in, for you 2D monsters. It keeps the monsters concealed, protected, and organized! none of that Go-fish bull-shiz searching a pile of 52 minis here, just greatness!
Step 1: the google image cannon
load your google image cannon with the phrase "Coin collectors sleeve" and fire!
there you will see a variety of sized pages with independent slots for your 2D minis
Step 2: Acquisition
Buy the ones that match the dimensions of your pieces, It may take a bit of time to figure out which sized pages you want to use.
Step 3: Dipping it paper-deep
insert 2D minis
Step 4; Hold gut and laugh heartily (unless that would spill beer, alcohol abuse is no good)
Revel in your amazing binder of monsters, like it spicy? you could include full page sleeves for paper- notes, your miniatures will no-longer be scuffed from being in a drawer or box, and the party will have non-damaged prey to demolish!
great ideas abound. well played sir...well played.
minis in my game are just placeholders, we only have Battleball and Heroscape minis to work with, so most of the enemies they come across, whether they're goblins, zombies, ogres, or whatever, most of the time they are just space football player minis
"There is no director ensuring quality control. Its just me. Drinking coors."
lmao
The end of this video is one of my very favorite things.
That ending got a little weird, not gonna lie. Solid points though, that's for sure. Totally made me walk down memory lane with the Dragon Warrior reference, though. First RPG I ever beat. I still hum the tunes to this day.
I used to pose my ninja turtles fighting a bunch of bad guys. My mother gave me a disposable camera and I'd take pictures of these epic scenes
another great one. I applaud you sir.
setting up the environment first really helps to determine the cast. also if players already have interesting characters to play, pick your cast to make the most interesting encounter.
i listen to beasties at work quite frequently becuzz they badass...mixmaster mike, what you got to say? I remember that DM Scotty said that the way to build up your mini collection is to just buy what you need to run an adventure...I think that is a great tip too! But with the monster pawns (or tokens) then the PC minis look even cooler than the monsters...I also like the idea you have of looking at the minis and making a theme out of them...Sometimes I buy minis around encounters I imagine or see and like...Did I mention that I like to ramble in these comments?...Use the tools to make what is in your mind...That's the Drunkens & Dragons guy's main point, yo...or is it, the monkey part?
Outro closeup: so good.
thanks for this vid. you always have the best timing with your topics
I use a mix of 3D minis and 2D pawns because 3D minis can add specialty and bad assness, yet pawns can add a sense of basic pack of elves or city folk and can help with budget or a special monster you want to specify instead of saying "kind of like this but different". Also having 3D next to 2D pawns adds variety to the eye, instead of too much 3d when things blend or too many pawns when all the white borders can be obnoxious. Pawns are also really easy to store but if used too much the game can feel kind of boring and flat killing the vibe.
"Hankering For An Ale" DO U PPL GET IT
Cask of ammontillado! Yay for the E.A.P. quote man.
+Sebastien Blaue love that story
Says he's going to leave, ramblings on for five more minutes. Haha love your personality.
Ooo the Beastly Boys
I mean that introduction was amazing
great video hankerin!
omfg I'm in tears. thanks Hank.
Liked just for the Beasti Boy intro!
I LOVE SO WATCHA WANT!!
omfg I'm in tears. thanks hank.
Banash Mustana! XD genius
16:02 HAHA! Go further! Go further! Just start pressing buttons and see what happens!!
I need to make that rap my ringtone
When I was a kid, on Saturdays my brother and I would have our G.I. Joes and Transformers fight, and we would alternate, so each side could win.
My gawd this is effing hilarious!
OOOOOOOO DAT SMEELLL!!!!
I love this channel!
Those pawns seem pretty useful, I might have to pick some up. Have you tried Wylocks 2d miniatures? They are pretty simple to make and come out great, a good medium between these pathfinder pawns and full 3d miniatures.
+Iackfury1 There are also lots of ready-made paper miniatures online. Just print on thick paper (or glue on cardboard). I have hundreds of minis that all fit in a small plastic container, and they cost under 10 EUR.
+Iackfury1 Yeah his stuff is so cool...
wore my beastie boyz shirt today ironically!!
That ending got exceptionally weird
ironically wearing my beastie boyz shirt!
Hankerin, is there a reason why you haven't gotten into paper/cardboard miniatures? There's lots of ready-made paper minis available on dtrpg - for very cheap. It takes some time to cut and finish them but they look a lot better than the pawns.
Some of the better ones include PERMES, Okumarts, One Monk Miniatures, Cerberus Illustration, and Arcknight.
World Work Games has two excellent sets of regular people / villagers.
+edheldude Yeah love all those, just havn't gotten to it...lots going on these days!
+edheldude Fiery Dragon had a sale last summer and was selling his entire collection for $30. I make my own sheets and print off what I need. My BIGGEST issue with Pathfinder Pawns, is that they are never in the quantities I need. I need 12 goblins... I need 6 Orcs... 20 Skeletons... 12 kobolds, etc, etc... not 1-3 of each. I can assemble exactly what I need... Also, I am going to make some with basic stat info right on the mini.
yeh agree..always need more more!
Bananas all the way down
Hank do you have a simple how to on that sweet rotating, black felt playing service, that's perfect for 2d?
nope...easy though..plywood base, 1 inch borders, paste in felt, use cake turntable lol
Coors doesn't taste like bananas. Bananas taste like bananas. Coors doesn't taste like bananas. Unless you've been smoking banana peels, then Coors might taste like bananas. I don't drink coors. I drank it once, from a keg. They said it was "very green" meaning very fresh. I don't know, but I had a headache for two days after that. I haven't been able to drink a Coors since. I was very young when that happened. I'm not so young any more. Coors does not taste like bananas.
Nice video. I collect and paint miniatures, but nice video.
+Christian Oliver great sentence length. bud light tastes even more like bananas
If you gonna do cults, check out Rafael Chandler's Obscene Serpent Religion. Here's a review of it: whatwouldconando.blogspot.com/2014/09/review-obscene-serpent-religion.html
Don't buy the boxes just get the pdfs and assemble them with cardboard.
great ideas abound. well played sir...well played.
