The Angel Reese “Narrative,” Does Not Define Who This Young Lady Will Be

  • A single moment, a season , a job, a relationship or a circumstance DOES NOT DEFINE YOU!
    I had to learn this the hard way but I offer grace to everyone because most of us of are doing our best. Angel Reese is 21 years old , I know many of you think that’s old enough to know better but I disagree. I also think that the “narrative” does not define who this young lady will be. I’ve read the comments and hear the jeers - and while I agree with the philosophy that trash talk isn’t an exclusive relationships in sports - I will say many folks seem as if it’s their job to ‘not like’ this young lady.
    Collectively we should remember that life is hard, it will teach all the LESSONS - it’s not ALWAYS our job. (talking to myself as well). Stay till the end.. MY PREDICTION 💯 #angelreese #womensbasketball

    Acho took the conversation out of context. She was asked a question which she responded. It’s her last game with LSU she deserves to be emotional. Angel doesn’t need anyone to feel sorry for her she is a winner in and off the court unapologetically.

    As an old white man I love to hear strong women speak; white, black, green or plaid. My daughter takes no sheet from anybody and I love it as does she. Some of the most intelligent people I have had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with were older Jamaican women in the hills and in the kitchens of Jamaica. The World would be a much better place if people would listen to the older women of the World, they are an amazing resource of wisdom. Give the young lady here a break and protect her from any jackass who would try to carry out one of their cowardly threats. xxoo

      True but she’s too ratchet and you modern women will cheer her straight to her destruction….just like did Sha’Carri Richardson. She was out here acting a damn fool, and y’all modern women defending that nonsense. Now that she’s had a slice of humble pie and acting like her age, her modern women support has dropped as well. Go figure.

    The competition between Angel Reese and Caitlyn Clark and the controversy it generated in the media is what got me paying attention to women’s basketball. They just have more interesting stories than men’s college basketball at the moment. I’ve seen other interviews with Angel Reese and she actually seems like a sweet girl. That’s just her competitive spirit when she’s on the court. I remember how the Detroit Pistons also embraced the villain role. I wonder if that announcer would have said the same thing about them.

    Ive seen this before, we used to put an end to this krap right away in the Marine Corps. You have a young lady in CC who adores and loves the sport and loves everybody but yet fooo.ools cast shade upon her for obvious reasons. They say racism is wrong but they can throw it one way as in reverse, not the other and it shld be ok...WRONG. This whole movement recently has displayed where this nation is at, had SC lost you'd see the difference in the comments and thats the Fn truth like it or love it. I am beyond flabbergasted as how this nation has treated this wonderful young lady and her team just because they think it should be another player or team who garnered all the millions of views and hype! There is no other Clark, she is the goat period. YOU gotta carry yourself a certain way, it's all about how one was raised.

      I think you're missing the point. The death threats and the crazy stuff people have been saying just because she's been talking shit is what she was crying about. You just stated that she doesn't deserve that. So you kind of contradicting yourself. That's what her teammates were defending they, "media", are trying to paint the narrative of a person that she is not. Has nothing to do with the trash talking. I think any player that's is dominant as she is is going to talk trash; it is part of the competitiveness of the sport. Every once in awhile you get an athlete that has nothing to say. but the death threats and the crazy stuff they're saying about her is not necessary and has no part in the sport whether the male or female. But you don't hear them talking to men like that so why they talking crazy to females I don't know

    • @tahalea

      What the hell did Angel do outside of talking trash and being confident about her game? I mean I really want to know. People don't know who Angel is off the court. Also, Cailin has talked so much crap and waved her hand in faces, but you don't have any gripe with her. Have this same energy for Caitlin and hold her to the same standards that you hold Angel to.

  • @mr.fancypants666
    @mr.fancypants666 Před měsícem +1

    An athlete at Angel Reese's level has been in the public eye since she was probably 15. She grew up in an age of social media. People have attempted to give her advice on how to handle her fame. She blazed her own path. There are numerous social media posts that she has made in the past year that contradict the concept of her being miserable for the whole year. She's gotten mean comments left on social media. Not quite the same as being threatened in person you can compare and contrast what she's done with her high profile versus someone like Paige Beckers versus Caitlyn Clark versus Cameron Brink versus Hailey Van lith . People respond to her based on how she carries herself that's on her. She can change. However maybe telling her she's done nothing wrong isn't helping her. Maybe tell her she can get past it but she did make some mistakes is what she needs to hear.

    • @tahalea
      @tahalea Před měsícem +2

      Just curious, what mistakes did she make?

    • @tahalea
      @tahalea Před měsícem +3

      Let me just say. Maybe I'm missing something. I don't think she's done anything wrong. She trash talked the person who trash talked another team that had done absolutely nothing to her (Clark did). Caitlin Clark was nasty to the South Carolina team last year. The media had them listed as the underdog and they completed the upset. In my opinion, Caitlin's behavior was very unsportsmanlike (when Iowa defeated SC last year) but it didn't get viewed or criticized the same as Reese's. I personally see nothing wrong with both of players behavior and I would use it to fuel my team as I'm sure South Carolina did. This behavior is acceptable with male athletes I don't know why it's being criticized so heavily and death threats is just ridiculous. I want my best player, whether male or female, to definitely think they're the best shit on the court.

    • @mr.fancypants666
      @mr.fancypants666 Před měsícem

      @@tahalea Caitlyn Clark has a lot of that. Megan Rapino arrogance on the court. Off the court she kisses hands and shakes babies. She compliments her teammates and the opposing team in her interviews. Trash talk during a game? You might like it or not like it, but it's acceptable. After a game is when people frown at it. When Jill Biden suggested that Iowa be invited to the White House because it was such a great game. It was mainly because of what Angel Reese did. She's an older lady. Maybe not accustomed to that. Angel said that's fine. She'll visit the Obama's. She's not a bad person, probably does a lot in her community. She's the focus of her team. I've seen her crash several interviews her teammates were having. After the last press conference they were talking about her and how strong she was, wasn't about the game. I've never been to Louisiana. I don't know what the people are like, but I know that if I played on that team I'd be happy she was leaving.

    • @tahalea
      @tahalea Před měsícem

      @@mr.fancypants666you are clearly on the outside looking in. We don't know everything. But that is still your opinion. I would never want my teammate to receive death threats over a little trash talk between teams. The girls themselves are not enemies so why are people trying to make either one of them out to be a villains? Her teammates don't feel that way because they don't think she deserves all the negative attention just for some trash talking (as she stated in the interview)? I have seen many male players in college & NBA level crash their teammates interview. It is not seen as a negative thing or stealing their shine. It is custom and tradition to invite only the champions to the White House. Never, regardless of how you may have felt about the losing team, have they been invited (to my knowledge). Jill doing that was out of line and sends the wrong message. You can't invite them to the white house for some pity party. She's a baller and she came with it this year, but was still no match for South Carolina. I'm sure neither of their teammates are happy to see them go. You sound like a hater. I wouldn't even want you on my team if you are happy to see either player, who has such a great impact on the game, leave. Her teammates sat there and stated that she didn't deserve all that negativity. And that she's not how people (like you & worse) portray her. Yet, you still want to hold on to your negative point of view. Regardless of the people closer to her telling you that's not how it truly is. Typical. You want to believe your point of view is how she really is, so go with it and stop commenting against what other people (that know her on personal level) say is the true narrative. They're not happy she's leaving. But the truth of the matter is that's not how those closer to her feel. They enjoy what she brings to the team and the girl said she makes her teammates better and that's what good players should do. It's still baffles me how people can see her as so negative & bad for the sport (for what? Why would you not want to play with either, they are both great competitors) but Caitlin Clark does the same exact thing and is not seen as such. I have not heard any of Caitlin's teammates say she made them better or uplifted them. You are still painting them to be drastically different but they're of the same paint just a different color.

    • @tahalea
      @tahalea Před měsícem

      @mr.fancypants878 you are starting your argument with assumptions. This is girl's basketball not boy's. They're still young not professionals yet. Why would you assume that she's been in the media eye since 15? It should know her way around social media? Although these teenagers are on it until you experience the visceral hate that comes when someone on social media does not agree with you You can't make such comments. Just because she's on social media does not mean that she's accustomed to being virally attacked over something that the other player did she merely mimicked what the other player did. You guys are on here defending Caitlin and Caitlin doesn't have a problem with it so why do you? She took what she dished out so I'm not mad at neither one. They are competitive This is what competitors do. Neither one of them are bad for the sport they both bored attention and light to the sport they both deserve praise.
