that's alright, my boyfriend called mascara eye stuff and then made the motion of putting on mascara
my fiance loves how I am with my makeup...he acts like he's interested...he watches put it on...he knows what almost everything is for and he's learning the names...he just learned about highlighting lol its no longer the shiny stuff for the cheeks lmao...i even send him to buy me makeup lol he's pretty good at buying my foundation shades and he's getting better....hes learning about brushes..he was always intrigued by fan brushes and he finally asked what they are for and he got all excited lmao....he also likes to feel the products..he's learning about eyeshadow being powdery or buttery and creamy....hes so cute..he wont let me put on makup on him just yet lol I tell him I need to practice my skills but nope he wont let me...at least he understands why I rather spend $20 on eyeshadow sometimes instead of $6. hee hee

Don't you just hate it one the person at the cosmetics counter comments on your skin (pores, wrinkles),? That is one of the reasons I hate asking for help...too embarrassing. You always look great Tati no matter what the price.
I would've been so pissed if someone commented on my pores! Like, yeah I have skin. Am I not supposed to? Department stores intimidate me so much sometimes haha
+Karen Parry I didn't even stop at the counter once (I have scars all over my face) and the person at the counter pulled me over and was like, "Hey you have a lot of acne try our..." And I just left.
Chin up ladies. We are all beautiful in our own special way. Let's try not to let a few cosmetic counter critics bring us down.
+Karen Parry YES! Ugh, it's the worst. It's actually one of the reasons I've stopped getting my foundation at makeup counters. I have acne, but when it was younger it was even worse. But I didn't want to buy full coverage foundation because I don't like how it feels on my skin and I'm pale so even the lightest color would usually look orange on me, so full coverage is even worse for that. Anyway, I'd start off saying that I just wanted light coverage, and they would ALWAYS try to talk me into more. Full coverage with a serum and a powder. Like, no, that's not what I asked for.
So yeah, korean BB creams all the way now. They actually have colors that don't turn me orange, their coverage is good, and it doesn't feel heavy on my face or shame me for my acne.
Haha, you could have perfect skin and they'd still find a ton of flaws! Its a business selling tactic: make the buyer feel like they NEED the product.
I agree with James. The cle "baking" powder looks more natural and less white and powdery.
I'm so sorry for everyone who is not looking forward to the holidays! I wish I could invite all of you because my family doesn't really celebrate at all.
On another note, Tati, I was a little disappointed when you said you really *neeeeed* to self tan. I jokingly call it American Tanning Culture. But can't we just appreciate the lighter skin that comes with wintertime and enjoy a rosy blush for flushed cheeks. And basically stop saying people are sick when they're just pale.
American Tanning Culture is a great name! I'm naturally very pale (to the point my skin reflects light in the summer) and although I absolutely love it, it feels weird to hear everyone go "o my gahd I'm soo pale rite now I need self tanner asap"- especially so when their pale is still three shades darker than me. It's almost like you can't have dark skin, but you can't have very light skin either. At the end of the day, the grass is always greener on the other side, right?

I totally agree with you! On both the paleness and the inviting people over. While I agree Tati is free to do what she wants, I also agree that pale should not be considered ugly or ill looking. Let's just embrace it! Maybe us Dutchies are more used to pale faces (I'm guessing your Dutch since your name is Marieke) 😄
i know what you mean..i have Olive medium naturally tan skintone...i love my skintone but I also love pale skintone..I think it looks so pretty...and I wish women would embrace their skintone...i like how they look with self tanners tho...i even buy them myself...but tati has beautiful skin tone..shes not even pale...but shr does look pretty with a selftanner

When you were talking about the stress of holidays and how it brings up memories that aren't very nice I legitimately shed a tear because that is exactly what it is like for me. On the bright side, your videos really relax me and are a way for me to chill and wind down amongst all the chaos.

Tip for loose powder sifters: Clean the sifter off, make sure it is dry, apply duct tape or any sticky tape that will stay on well over as many holes as you need. I made a heart shaped one and applied it to mine and that left 7 holes open. You can be creative or maybe even use a big enough sticker?

My condolences... I lost my dad July 5th. The holidays don't seem so cheerful at all. You should definitely try to enjoy it. Celebrate her life. Work towards bettering you in her honor. That's the only advice I can give. It's tough. Losing someone is never easy
My dad died last year,in december, week before Christmas, he had brain tumor. We like to remember our beautiful moments together, talk about it, cry and smile about it. We love him and he loves us and is with us I am sure! So celebrate the life of your grandmother!

I fully believe that our loved ones can still watch over us though, and I am sure that your grandma wouldn't want you sad, so try to celebrate the life that she had. I'm sure she is so thankful to have had the chance to be your grandma :)

This will haunt me for the rest of my life but I know she doesn't blame me and wants me to remember the good memories I had with her. Omg... Tears are forming in my eyes just typing this. I bet she'lll want you to do the same. They will always love us no matter where they are!
Thank you for mentioning how the holidays are a tough time for you. I suffer from depression and seasonal depression so I'm even more depressed around this time of year. It's nice to know that I'm not alone. Doing makeup and watching CZcamsrs like you, Kathleenlights, and nikkietutorials really help a lot and give me an escape from my depression. Tati, I think you look more radiant when you are paler. Just my opinion. :)
And as someone who has eczema on my face, the best remedy I have ever used in twenty years plus has been plain organic coconut oil. I usually have flaky dry patches at this time of year, and making sure I put on the oil every night before bed, and my skin is moth and soft and never better.
+YourKimberkitten My skin has never been as happy as it has been since I discovered coconut oil! It doesn't really help on the hands unless you reapply after washing though.
+YourKimberkitten how long have u been using it? Coconut oil is good for your skin but it gets dense at room temperature and I hear it clogs pores. I stopped using it on my face and use argan oil now.
+PhoenixXx A couple of months. But I never break out anyways...I can count on two hands the number of pimples I have had in my life. I have had no issue with it clogging anything. Another woman I work with has been using it for a year and she swears by it, too. I think it is worth a try anyways to see if it works for you!

Literally never comment on videos but love your channel and I am paused at the part where you're talking about stress during the holidays. I'm going through a really stressful time in my life, and to add to it my dog got really sick last week and we had to put her down. $75 is outrageous for powder alone... but $175!? where do these companies get off charging this much for makeup. Totally insane. But I can't lie, this is like my favorite series of Tati's lol and I just love her reviews. It's super interesting to see why they charge so much, to see if the products are truly worth it.
You're so right about the holidays and stress, make-up and skincare have always been a way to distract myself with things I just love to play and experiment with!
I love watching this series because it gives me an idea of what all is out there and if it's worth exploring or not

I agree so much, watching these makeup videos and others is an escape for me, I go to work and I become so stressed and upset, and blame myself for it all.. my skin is in bad condition so that irritates me too and I'm battling depression through this chaos. but watching these videos I FEEL like time out from the world - I can just sit back, have fun and find potential buys for the future.

Omg Tati, you hit home when you said that about Christmas... My stepdad had a heart attack on Christmas day 2009 by the dinner table, he just fell to the floor, we did CPR but he died. My parents are dead since I was a child, and so I only had him left. Christmas felt so lonely as it was before I lost him, now, I just wanna run away from it :( I feel like its just a big reminder of that Im the one with no family, makes me so sad! :,(

The two things I will always pay a bit more money for are foundation and mascara. Those are the two things that at this point I can't not go high end on. Once you put that Nars foundation on your face no drug store product ever compares!
+Nat Cat I have to agree with this! Also, I know some people say it's better to go with drugstore mascaras, but after trying high end ones I just can't go back!
Ahaha i wish i could say the same about high end mascara but mine always dry out so quickly which really sucks -.-
I have the Nars foundation and it's the best, the only problem is only drugstore sells liquid foundation pale enough for me 😒
Amarië Elensar I know the urban decay Naked foundation goes to a shade thats almost white! I too get very pale. Have you tried that one? Its a really nice foundation
Which Nars foundation are you referring to? I have dry skin and heard their most current liquid foundation release is not ideal...

Anyone watch these videos because (besides the obvious love for Tati that we all have!) they want to live vicariously through Tati and be able to spend $175 on something like a powder? Honestly, your comments about enjoying make-up and trying out products! You totally get me! Everyone in my life gives me A LOT of crap for buying make-up a lot (as if they could ever stop me!) but I honestly just LOVE make-up and I love trying out new looks and testing new) brands and they just don't understand lol That's why it's nice to watch beauty gurus like yourself who get it 😄

Idk if this has been suggested yet, but have you ever thought of doing a full look with all of those ridiculously expensive products (i.e $100 powder, $200 foundation, etc.) and compare it to a look using the cheapest makeup products? (as in that generic maybelline greatlash mascara with the pink and green packaging we always see near all the candy and gum next to the cash register. We've all seen it.)
Funniest moment: "Welp, I just wasted $5 dollars…i'm gonna have to figure that out off camera because right now powder is flying everywhere and I'm seeing my dollars fly around the room in the form of powder."
