I work at Metro and while we can port numbers without a bill from a previous carrier, if we think you're trying to get over on us we will ask you for proof that you've had these numbers for a while and if you refuse, I will refuse the sale. Cause people will open prepaid accounts the night before to get the free phones. Our dealers pay full price for the phone and corporate credits us for the phones. If the phone isnt on for a certain amount of time metro does a chargeback and if our dealer is charged back for those phones, the FULL retail price of the phone is taken out of our commission. Usually people that do this will buy them, shut them off immediately and resell them for more than what they paid. Corporate and the owners of the store are going to side with the associates because it happens so often. One of these assholes got over on me and after that I dont initially trust ANYONE porting over. If I sniff bullshit, I will ask questions. It was so bad at one point we had to call our bosses and get approval if the port was over 2 phones.
So what they take a sprint phone bill and then sign up for metro iPhone at a cheaper price and then get it cut off and resell it lol sounds like a lot but I’m confused a little
