I thought it would be a drag, but I should have braced myself because it turned out to be quite riveting.
Lol
Droll lol!😂
Okay, you're killing me!
Now that was funny
That was quite clever & amusing. I needed a little chuckle today.
You Are The OG DIY Channel!!! Always have great videos with explanations of what you're doing or why you're doing it! Great job as always Mr Doug & Ms Ashley!!!
Thanks!
I would never have thought of rivets to mend holes in siding or using that material between the rafters and the roof! Thank you very much. Blessings🙏 on your endeavors and on your family.🐦🔥🧘♀️🫖🐈⬛📚🖖🐲🐅
All Building science started somewhere . Loved the joke " All that for a loaf of bread " . Lol😂
That’s so cute, not sure if you’re aware, cats adopt their people, you’ve just been adopted 😊
I think the cat has claimed its new family ❤
The kids loved it! Doug was unsure haha
OMG. So I had this female cat coming over and eating. I had a bunch of males and they would fight each other even though they were fixed. So we took her in and got her fixed. Well a couple days later the neighbor came over and said someone fixed her cat. She was like who would fix her cat. We of course knew nothing about it. We had that cat for years. We named her Becky. The neighbors moved and left her there.
Thank you so much for getting her fixed.
That's so kind of you.
Thank you 🙏
I look at this as saving future kittens from living in horrible conditions.
Have a great day.
This channel should have a million subscribers based on the effort which this family put into their videos 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I agree 100%
"All that for a loaf of bread?" 🤣 Ashley, I love your off the cuff quick wit and your new 4-legged neighborhood friend, too! I think she loves your children! I remember all your beautiful furry friends you inherited in Indiana and the beautiful shelter Doug made for them. Mobile home is looking great! Happy week ahead to you all! ☺ Love and blessings! ❤
I know that quote from somewhere. I can’t remove where and it’s bothering me…
Ashley naming the neighbors cat was hilarious!😂😂😂
That cat is so friendly.
Ashley has the same job as every other wife who helps her man in the work zone "watch out for the glass windows"... I literally had to stop my Hubs from chopping off his foot one day.😂😂😂 universal job of wives, OSHA supervisor... LoL
I am hooked. I watch every vid. Giving the trailer home a second life is a great 💡
We have a cat in our neighborhood that always comes around to visit. I found out the cat has three different names (that we know about). We don’t really know which neighbor official owns it - he just makes his rounds. When I asked 2 of my neighbors they said he just comes around at different times. They each named him too. He is a good cat, does not cause any issues. We gave him a name so we could say: look Russ is in the back yard again. One neighbor named him Church, since they would normally see him when heading out for church each Sunday. We all have cats and he comes around to sample our cat’s food - we don’t mind so I’m sure he thinks we all belong to him 😊.
Splitting the backing material into two 30' sections was smart!
My license gives me access to supply houses which only sell to the trades. That makes it easier to get hardware such as those aluminum washers. I wonder if one of you shouldn't pick up a trade license, register an LLC and see if that doesn't open some doors for you? Goodness knows you do better work than much of what I see on job sites. Far better.
Ashley you are so healthy and beautiful (naturally) I think the move to Florida has totally agreed with you and the whole family‼️‼️‼️🌞❤️
Awe the sweet cat!! Your kids are so gentle .
Ashley does a wonderful job of supervising and supporting Doug ❤
The kitty knew she needed to get Doug’s approval. ❤
I had visions of you poking a hole through the roof for a second while cutting free that trus... Lol then thought "naaa it's Doug, it'll be fine.
Looking at the inside of the mobile home now. It already has an improved, more stable look about it. I'm always amazed. I love this channel. You have been my inspiration for what I've done in the few months I've lived off grid. Just think about it and do it. Thank you for being you both Doug and Ashley!
I have a beautiful female calico, and we named her Callie. I'm so excited about the progress your making on your mobile home investment, but I would love to see your kitchen finally finished as well as your back porch at hopefully your permanent residence. Once you finish it, I would love to see a big workshop/garage built that can hold all your yard equipment, woodworking equipment, and space to store your wood, etc, for your future projects. I've been a subscriber since the very beginning, when Maverick was a baby, so I've seen what all you have accomplished as a team, which has truly been an awesome effort! Can't wait for your next video!!!!!
Interesting fact: I only recently learned that only female cats can be calicos! Evidently it’s a trait attached to the Y chromosome. Maybe I’m the last one to know 😅!
21:37 This is probably not news to Doug and Ashley, but for anyone watching, the importance of avoiding any stainless steel fasteners or washers with aluminum can't be overstated. I just learned that the metals were incompatible last summer, but then, in December, while selling a car, I noticed that the stainless screws I used to attach my 6 year-old license plate had eaten right through it on one side and left it cracked and jagged on the other. That was no tragedy, but if it happened to the siding of a building, the damage could pile up for a while before being discovered. It is something that never would have occurred to me before I learned it by accident.
The whole home looks so much better than a year ago. Even I can begin to see the possibilities. So fun to watch your videos.
Doug, when y’all coat the roof exterior, I recommend using the white roof seal/coating for metal roofs. I had a mobile home years ago, the home was always hot in the summer, even using my A/C unit… I bought a couple of cans of the white roof coat/seal.
I got up on the roof, ( my roof was slightly rounded, not peaked as yours), used my water hose, some detergent and a little bleach, used a small push broom and scrubbed the roof clean, rinsed it well and let it dry a few days.
I got back up there and used a paint roller with a long handle, “painted” the roof with one coat, and after a couple of days, got back up there and recoated it. I believe the cans were three gallon cans, maybe five…
Stuff isn’t cheap, but it made a world of difference in my utility bill in the summer, vs the old silver coating.
Please be careful if/when you get on your roof, wishing you all continued success and health as you progress on this project!
"All that for a loaf of bread" 😂 good one Ashley, I'll have to use that line.
Things are progressing nicely.
As usual I enjoy & appreciate the content. Rock on!
Calla is proving to be a great neighbor - comes to visit andd loves everyone but doesn't give her "suggestions" - really hope we get to see more of her! ❤️
It's nice that a cat wants to adopt your family. Unless she's fixed the population will increase.
You know what they say…. You don’t choose a cat, a cat chooses you! Looks like Calla has found her new hoomans!!😉
Every job site needs a good mascot supervisor 😊
All that for a loaf of bread 😂 good one Ashley.
Take care
I recently lost my husband and watching y’all takes my mind off of things if only for a few minutes- I love watching y’all it’s so relaxing and peaceful- thank you- I’ve been watching since Maverick was a baby
Cats will go where they get food. This one is so cute and friendly. I hope the poor sweet girl will not have litter after litter😞
Thanks for another great video! I know that some folks don't know the level of videoing and editing that goes into each episode. I'm so glad that you do this!
Once you fix the holes in the roof. Clean it pressure wash it. And roll on Henries white reflective roof coating. It will reflect 65% of the suns heat energy. I use it on silver or tar. It lowers heat in flat roof dwellings 😊
The neighbor's cat looks hungry for food and attention. The kids really enjoy petting the sweet calico cat. 🐱
Yeah, It was super friendly. They enjoyed the visit.
"I don't think you can name a neighbor's cat." I was cracking up.
Wow the way you covered the ceiling. Amazing
On a off subject. The cat is very thin. Please feed it It’s looking for food. Please
Karen from Florida 🌴💕
Second attempt on pulling that stuff through, was SMART
Im so impressed how you sealed up the holes in the siding. Thats looks great. Please keep the videos coming.😊
Happy Sunday morning Doug, Ashley and kiddos. Watching you from New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Love your videos and wait in anticipation for the next one everyday. Waiting to see what you do with the roof over. Have a great day!
This brings back memories when I was a child finding rivits all over the backyard because my dad was building a motorhome from the ground up. That's part of the reason I love watching this channel. I grew up with a dad constantly building boats motorhomes etc. Of course the best part was using them after they were completed... Your kids will have very fond memories! 🙂
Good Morning!! The calico cat is a bonus. Friendly and then it can go home. Love your projects and of course you 4 also 🥰🥰🥰🥰😻
We had a young kitten show up at our house yesterday. I didn't bring it in last night because we are to old to chase it around. My husband brought it in the house this morning and I told him he had 😊to keep an eye on it. We have a dog that is old and she's not able to deal with it. It was a sweet baby and wanted a lot of love. Thank goodness my daughter took it for our granddaughter. When our last dog passes we don't want anymore we are in our mid 60's and I don't want to leave one for someone to half to take care of it. We've lost five in our 35 years together.
Just to let you know that I have been really enjoying your videos & quality of workmanship. I look forward to seeing the next episode. Best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺 🦘🐨
The dream team. Ashley and Doug, you work so well together. 🏴
You always go the extra mile and do your best to get things finished to the highest standard, even though you will not see a lot of what you do I personally admire the fact that the homes you redo and renovate will be lasting for a very long time because of the measures you take.
I was amazed at your hole rivet trick, so simple but so effective, also extremely efficient, but you have a ton more to do.
That lucky cat just found the sweetest family. I don’t know your neighbors but I’m sure she’s begging y’all to take her home with you.
Rivets are a super idea ,anyone doing a repair of a mobile home are getting lots of ideas to solve problems they may run into …great solutions ….♥️🇨🇦
You got yourselves a calico supervisor. 🇦🇺🎸⚡️🤘🏼🤘🏿💋❤️
What I appreciate about your work is that you dot your I and cross your T. You make sure everything is fixed. Others would say, "Who will know." Very honest of you!
One does not own a cat, it owns you.
Haha! True.
Most cats I’ve encountered allow you the privilege of housing and feeding them, and in turn they ignore you unless they want something.
That mobile home is going to be sturdier and better built when you get done with it. Great job! Love the progress! Much love 🤗 ❤
It looks like Stan's entire right arm may be broken..that flopping is NOT normal.
Cali enjoyed visiting 🐈
I bought my home 17 years ago and it came with a few feral cats hanging around sometimes. I've had them and their descendants here ever since and wouldn't have it any other way. They have been controlled by someone so they're usually no more than a few of them. I live in the country and next to a large field so these cats really help with the mice and I never get mice in the house. The cats will not let you near them but that's okay too.
This is one of your projects that will still be standing after the next apocalypse. Men will be scratching their heads and wondering how did they do that.😂
Great idea....Ashley: I'm going to name the cat Cala for Calico. Doug : you can't name the neighbor's cat Ashley : why?😅 she is a beautiful cat... wow the inside really looks clean.
What a great idea using the washers with the rivets! 😊
You two are such hard workers! I love seeing the progress on both your homes. Thank you for sharing your family and journey with us.
Holy cow! What a lot of great content, amazing ideas and hard work. LOVE this channel!
Love the stray Cat, Kali is the perfect name for her. I believe she brings good fortune with her. She is the beginning of many blessings.
Love the kitty!
What a sweetheart!
Awesome job guys!
I always love seeing what you are doing. You definitely live up to your DIYfferent name. 👍👍 Sweet little kitty coming to visit, Sweet.
Nice job guys. The cat is cute also.
That house is or will be built like a tank. Thanks guys! God Bless, Love, Granny
I had a calico cat when i was young. Her name was Cali. ☺️
You guys never cease to amaze me with your innovative and creative ideas! Keep up the amazing work and I can't wait to see you guys next
Look into Henry's Tropicool roof coating. It is silicone. So you will be married to silicone products, but it seals great, and the heat reflection is fantastic. We have used it on flat roofs, and I plan on using it on my 1980 double wide metal roof. The flat roof we have it on stays cool to touch on hot days. Doesn't split and crack with heat either like the silver stuff.
That was some great progress, the place will be better than new the way you are rebuilding it. I love the little calico kitty and it sure seemed to love all of you, too.
Putting washers on the pop rivets was a brilliant idea.
❤ Ashley, you look so good in your outfit today! Your editing and music choices make your videos extremely enjoyable! 😊 ❤ Thanks for sharing your live's journey with us. I enjoy watching very much...:)
I think the Calico kitty adopted you all. So cute 🥰
I just got to tell you guys that I love your channel and watching you do all these different things to repair the rot on this trailer is fascinating ....! thank you for putting this content up and sharing it with us all...❤
Your like a friend I never met! I love your videos! And I look forward to every single one. Please know that you and your families "trials and tribulations" are not just informational but also so very enduring. I wish you nothing but the very best. Keep it up!!! Danny
I like the idea of using the rivets to fill in the holes. 😊👍
A little tricky today but you got it done. Great job. Stay safe and God bless.
Use a pressure washer with a foamer using Dawn dish soap. It cleans everything and don’t contaminate the soil . It also keeps ants and spiders away for 2-4 months
I think the name Calla is a cute and fitting name for the little kitten. Our barn cat's name is Callie and she's a total Callico colored cat with an awesome personality. She doesn't catch any vermin, she's just eye candy and we like it that way. I also enjoy how Doug thinks outside the box in his renovations.
Interesting use of that material. I have a 1974 model trailer house that needs work and you have given me several good ideas on the "How's and Why's" to do repairs
Ashley I love the print of the shirt you’re wearing. Very pretty.
I lived in a manufactured home in the 1980s, and I found that after applying an exterior roof coating, roof rumble on windy days was greatly reduced. I guess it takes a lot more wind to lift a heavier roof, and the 2 buckets of coating weighed 80 pounds each.
A good way to find the holes from outside: have her stick a wire or a plastic-coated bread tie through the hole and you'll be able to find it faster.
O you mean neighbors cat??? Thats your cat now 😹😏
Doug has a reason for moving that bracing in the ceiling for later installation, probably for a wall build later 😂.
Wow you two are such an inspiration. I love how you work together. As soon as you dropped that tool Ashley said “ I’ll get it “ I love it. I’m just an old lady that loves the humble way of life. Thank You for being absolutely real and true. Doug only one thing , please wear some safety goggles! I don’t want anything to happen to your eyes. ( that’s the Momma hen coming out in me . I have 2 sons . 1 is in plumbing and gas , and 1 is in construction) Anyway Thank Y’all so much for sharing with us. God Bless. Sending love all the way from Alabama, Chrissie ♥️🙏
Not good too bump into the Forman on the job. But I guess he was just standing around looking critically on your work Doug!😂😅
I'm no roofer, but the guys that reroofed my rv shelter added a metal roof underlayment which is a synthetic fabric that is water proof and serves the same purpose as felt in the old days. It stopped the condensation problem that I was experiencing. It primarily acts as a vapor barrier between the warmer humid air underneath and the cooler metal.
Doug & Ash! It seems like you guy’s are ( Enjoying) the space to build in now you’re getting there all around great family team work.
When you hit Stan, I hollered Get out of the way Stan, Doug is gonna hurt you! That was alot of tugging and tucking happening!
In 1984 they built mobile homes with lots and lots of staples ! No wonder they are noted for tearing up in a storm! I hope they build them better now a days.
I believe they use staples because staples would hold things together a lot better than nails while transporting them down the road.
Cute kitty!!! Looks like she chose you!!! 🥰🎶❤️🎶🐈🙏🙏🙏🏡🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
You can really tell Doug and Ashley take pride in what they do, like how Doug added support to that truss that had a crack, most people would have just ignored it and moved on! God Bless and keep up the Great work! 🙏❤
Brilliant idea on the roof! You made it look fun rolling along on the platform😊
You guys are getting her done!
Looks cleaner not being regular insulation and looks like it will hold up for many years. Nice job and love the little calico.
The sweet kitty may belong to the neoghbors yet it seems to have chosen your family. Smart kitten. Watching Ashley and Doug work always makes me smile. Our wonderful country's forefathers would be proud to see you 2 carrying on their work ethics. Such amazing attention to detail is truly admirable. Your caliber of quality work is rare. Major kudos to Ashley for her choice of music and her editing skills. Both are indeed outstanding! The hidden gems of humor are also appreciated. Lovely family. Belle and Maverick are respectful, smart and beautiful children.
Wil not mis anyhing sometimes i watch 2 or 3 times because of you're hidden humor😂😂
Calla wants her 5 minutes of fame.😂 Cats choose people. So the cat likes you. That’s a great idea for the insulation, 😮WOW ! Love that O.K. Corral music (old western gun fight comes to mind) and the Russian dance music.😊 Nice touch.
You two are so inventive. I love the way to fill all the screw holes, funny but I was thinking about them the whole time, wondering how you were going to fill them. I 'd see them when you replaced the wood supports, I'd see the day light peeking through. I also am impressed with the house siding for the roof. Shoring up the tresses is also a super good idea. She will be solid. Florida storms it will pay for itself in the long run. Great job you two make a good team. Space man got in your way, shame on him, he needs to go to the corner. Peace!
You always work out clever solutions to problems. Intelligent people.
the pop rivets are a clever solution to the holes. I never would have thought of that.
If you have a conditioned attic you need to have a air barrier in-between the metal and the living environment. Lots of videos on that
Love the idea of the rain shield. Rivets were a great idea to fill in all those holes. That cute Calla was a bonus! Great team!
Try starting in the middle and pulling it in both directións. Lot less resistance and stress. 😮😊
I’m so impressed of what an awesome renovation of this top supports! 👍
