I just want to say that I am so flabbergasted by the agility, strength, and sense of balance that both Doug and Ashley bring to this work. As an old man with arthritis, it's amazing to watch Doug climb a ladder carrying a metal roofing sheet, walk nimbly across a roof stepping only on secure spots, and then drop into a full squat while reaching across to put in a screw several feet away. If there were a DIY Olympics, you two would be serious contenders for the gold!
Suggestion, maybe you could pull the bus close to the trailer and put all your prepped sheets on top, then just lift them up on the roof from there instead of climbing up and down the ladder.
I used to call that 'training'.
I can't wait to see the paint color, I'm hoping for some color.... I still remember the little red trailer.. lol
This channel deserves a million subs 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks! Maybe someday we will get there :)
@@diyfferent You will 👍
That is the best investment you could have made. Installed like a Pro!!!
Doug and Ashley please don't change a thing. I like you just the way you are. You don't need fancy clothes or hair.
The hat and long sleeved shirt is to prevent sun damage to their skin. I garden a lot. I wear a hat, gloves, jeans, and long sleeved shirts. I work in the morning from 6 to 10 am. Afternoons from 2:30 - 3 pm till I can't see! I take breaks for heat during the day. And sometimes, a change in gear can lift your spirits! Have a really good day😊
They both are very fair skinned and the Florida summer sun is no joke. I got a really bad sunburn as a kid one summer. It was lobster red in color. I don’t do the long sleeve or hat bit, hats are horrible for me. They keep to much heat in.
I totally agree 👍🏻😊
I completely agree. Don’t change a thing.
Bye Maverick! Hope you had a fun day exploring the yard & playimg with the cat!
The roof is already looking good. I’ll just be glad when it’s done and you don’t have to walk around up there anymore. Makes me nervous. I’ll confess to fast forwarding a little bit here and there. 🙃🙂
Love Ashley's comparison of the roof sides: "ewww"....."ahhhh" Yup, lady of few words, very succinct. LOL
Doug = "Professional ".
Ashley = "Yeah".
That was the moment I sprayed hot tea across my tablet and the kitchen island. That was awesome! I do appreciate unexpected humor. The timing was perfect! It was so good Ashley included it twice. The mobile home is looking so much better. A black roof in the south is far from ideal. Plus it's difficult to do any work on the roof because of the extra heat. A white roof would quickly start showing debris from trees, wind, birds, etc. The gray roof was the best decision. I admit I am a bit anxious to see the exterior finished and painted. It will be the vesy best new, 40yr old mobile home on the planet. I remain in awe of all the skills and knowledge Ashley and Doug have. Their videos are always entertaining and informative.
It's looking so good! So glad you guys are breathing new life in the old mobile home!
Predrilled is the way to go. Everything goes so much quicker and you don't have to worry about putting your bit through the tin when the screw tumbles.
Doug & Ashley, you did a professional job on that roof. So precise. Love the color choice also.
Looks great. I bet the neighbors are glad for all the work you’ve done. The property looks amazing
I like the prideful professional attitude you have as a builder. I’d definitely buy your Mobil home rebuild.
I would love to live in something that Doug and Ashley have reconstructed.
Carrying up the roof panels up the ladder and walking them down the length if the trailer looks so scary to me! Your strength and balance are amazing, Doug!
I love that you read comments that disagree with how you do things and then you come back and show and explain the reason why you do things the way you do. I appreciate your willingness to teach what you know and what you've learned. Loving the progress and watching your family working together to meet goals. Your love and support for one another is evident every day! God bless your family and your properties!
Setting a quitting time is good. For mental and physical health.
Doug, Ashley, your video work is about the best on CZcams. The added content like roof load rating info is also very professional. Sets your channel apart for sure.
Hi Family,
Oh my ever loving goodness!!!
You could not have picked out a
better color roof! It looks sooooooo
good!! I love it! Fantastic work
day guys! You all are so awesome
to watch, so professional and perfectionist!
Have a safe and Blessed day my friends ❤
I like them too
Doug, as a previous metal roof salesman, you are correct on the overlap.
That little home is going to be better than it was brand new. Sometimes you can recycle reuse! Whoever lives there will be happy with it.
I am so surprised the home was essentially condemned and you guys breathed new life in those old bones. Bravo👏 well done.
Doug you are doing a great job, more people construction workers should be like you,you take pride in your work.
Doug stars in my favorite musical. Nibbler on the Roof. 17:54
Doug, you are a master craftsman, don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. 👍🏻
This is one of the best decisions you both have made! Such a beautiful improvement to this home!
I had to look twice no green fshirt 'what happened?' Haha. Roof looks damn good and I think metal roof is real tidy looking which is why I have in on my workshop. I have said before but Belle and Maverick are so well behaved they really are a credit to you both.
I am a fan of Doug's puns.
You must truly be living life right. I have never done metal roofing on a day without wind gusting. That is really looking great
The different angles you do while filming makes watching the video enjoyable. The roof looks so nice and clean! Getting closer to being done!
What a difference a new roof has made..you both saw potential where others didn't, win-win for Doug and Ashley 🎉
Only 10 minutes in and it’s looking fabulous. Take care in that Florida sunshine. 🌞
Great choice of color, it will reflect the sunlight off the roof, and will help keep the house cooler. I love watching you and Ashley working together and figuring how to solve problems.
Ashley,”Ewww,Ahhh!”That was awesome.
It really looks great! Your patience and detailed work is paying off.
The roof is looking great you guys , what a remarkable improvement over the previous roof , that place is looking super
You two are the dynamic duo in home renovation. Doug in his black turtle neck and Ashley with the lovely bangs also make you the cutest.
I think you and Ashley are doing a wonderful job
Your roof is looking so good. Don’t let the turkeys get you down about anything… clothing, the way you work, raise children… OMGoodness!
Hey people Doug and Ashley are putting the metal down correctly 😊😊
Good Job guys, maybe, as there is no wind maybe put a few sheets up on the roof instead of climbing up & down the ladder. Thank you Ashley, you work all day on the roof, go home feed youre family, get kids ready for bed, then when its time to settle for the night have to edit video. Soo thanks Ashley. x x
Too heavy to lift two sheets at a time one-handed up the ladder. It's just better to bring up one at a time :)
Both my wife and I really enjoyed this video and Doug’s sense of humor with the exhaust crack! 😂😂
Hey guys! You are lapping the CORRECT way! Fantastic progress, fantastic family, fantastic show!
I am thankful you aren't dealing with the wind. Great job, guys!
Love seeing ya’ll accomplish what you set out to do. Ya’ll never disappoint.
You do better work than a professional! Super job!
I have watched you IMPROVE every home you have lived in or owned. It’s satisfying to see you put care and pride of ownership in every project from customizing the bus, refinishing a mirror for Belle’s room, to refurbishing this mobile home. You do it thoughtfully, patiently and beautifully. ❤ 👍 good job
Not a disparaging remark, but Doug has an interesting choice in apparel. My first thought was either an orthodox priest or a beatnik. I’m leaning towards the latter where he sits around sipping homemade wine, listening to avant- guard jazz, and snapping his fingers in approval of spoken poetry. 😎 Cool, man!
I think that may be a special shirt that protects against sunburn, just a guess on my part.
I agree with Roadnottaken27. you are special and unique that's why a lot of people love you. Doug and Ashley you are very natural ❤❤❤
Beautiful transformation. Love the way you saved the old roof and so much work.
Doug you usually wear a green T-shirt but you’re smoking that dark long sleeve shirt. Sorry Ashley ,don’t worry this comes from a 70 year old lady. 😂😂😂 Love this channel for several years. Keep up the great work!
That's what I was thinking too
Almost half way done! That color is so nice. 👍🏼🙂
I think you're going to have some jealous Neighbors. LOL but you might get some paid work from those around you. It looks so good. I think once you start the walls inside, it will take some of the waviness out that you don't like . Blessings to you and your family.
I really enjoy your channel. Great content 👍👍. Ashley showing the roof before and after... "Eww (then camera pans to new panels) Ahhh!" So cute 😊
Good Morning! Doug and Ashley you work so hard. The roof is really shaping up. Keep. Doing You. 🌻🌵🎶🔨
That dilapidated old mobile home is slowly looking so nice - step by step - and lots of fun to see it come together. Your work is quite an inspiration! Thank you for sharing ❤
So many comments are meant to help you. Here’s what I know 50% of them won’t be any help the other 50%. You have to figure out how to tweak it to help you. People are well-meaning, but figure it out for yourself like you did the previous stuff you did. Keep on keeping on everything you do you do for the first time, so there you go.
I am always amazed at how Doug can just walk up a ladder with a load and step off so effortlessly. pre drilling was a good idea.
Love the color choice!❤great job❤
Wow how did you hear me in future? I had just said to myself “wow the are only overlapping one”. And you said everyone says we do this wrong. Thanks for explaining.
Wow! I cannot believe how amazing the roof is looking. This old mobile home will look new and what's more it will be a custom design when you two get done with it. I am excited to see it.
The roof is looking
Great.Nice job
Doug&Ashley
Pre-drilling the holes makes sense now that I understand the process
Wow! the roof is looking fantastic! Great job you two!❤
Where we live, you have to use butyl tape on the overlap, and that join also has screws through. Plus bug screening to block the raised channels.
Pretty strict but at least you'll have a solid installation.
As usual, it's going to look so good when it's finished!
You sure got your exercise with climbing up the ladder with those metal sheets! You did a great job, it looks so good. We can really see the impact it is having on the appearance of the home. It was interesting to watch you place each sheet, especially the part around the pipe. Great teamwork again! 😊
You two chose the perfect color: Black or dark colors absorbs the heat, white reflects the heat but looks messy quickly. Gray is still light enough to reflect and will look nice in the long run. Y’all always make great decisions 😊
Damn y’all that looks stunning🇦🇺🎸⚡️🤘🏿🤘🏼💋❤️
This is looking really good. I shared this particular video with a neighbor, who I believe needs a roof over. Your puns are punny, Doug. "This is going to be exhausting," referring to the exhaust pipe. Smh.
The roof panels look really good! What a difference! Long day, but y’all got a lot done! Congratulations & TYTY for sharing! ❤️❤️🙏❤️❤️
the great thing about how you have done the roof is that there is an air gap which will help keep the house cool on the inside
You take such care Doug in all the work you do, Ashley you are a perfect wife for Doug you two work as such a great team. ❤
Hi guys
Thank you for sharing
Tell the kids hi
GOD bless you and your beautiful family
What a great difference you are making! Looking so good!!
Well Doug I got to say I think you and me are the only one who pre-drilled our roof sheets that's the best way to go brother just keep it up that's good looks good you should measure from way down to the other end to see if you can keep them straight
Another CZcamsr in Canada did it that way about a year and a half, maybe two years ago. "The Outsider" and his father built a family cabin that is Most Excellent ♥️ He also has pop-up cabin plans for a mini-cabin. So worth a good look!
Looks AMAZING... Thanks for sharing
I was surprised they didn't give you bug stop for the eaves. It is a stick on strip that goes on before each panel and also under the ridge cap to seal up the gaps.
Yep. It keeps the wasps out.
We got closure strips for the ridge but the roof people suggested that it wouldn't be necessary for the bottom. They did give me the option though.
The roof is looking Good! Best not to work late, when you get tire after a long day accidents are more likely to happen. I heard Maverick in the back round at the end, bye Maverick!
I agree with you! I am so glad they both stopped before a misstep happened
What a great team you are! I just love watching you. Been with you since Maverick was an infant and it's been a wonderful ride. Thanks so much for sharing your lives with us. Hugs to all!
😊 that little voice in the background "bye" melts my heart.
#untilnexttimetakecare
I'm worn out from going up and down the ladder with Doug. The roof is looking great.
Holy moly that vent placement was perfect! And those cuts! Chefs kiss perfect! That is looking amazing 👏 🤩 I'm getting so excited for you guys!
Well you two have done it again. Looks great!!!! Always done like a pro! Doug you n Ashley are Pros!
Great job !!👍👍👍👍👍
Glad I have been installing it the correct way all this time lol. So many people won't read instructions and rather believe youtube on how to do it wrong. There are a few that do it correct like yourselves. Thanks for sharing.
Oh guys, I love the color choice! Knocking it out!!! Looks great, cant wait to see the next one. Have a good Eclipse day! 🌙😊
Moring doug n Ashley !the color is good color .your both doing good on roof n all of the trailer. Its all looking great.
Wow the camera makes the roof look a mile long. Bet it feels that way to you too!! Great job!!!
Wow !!...The roof is looking amazing.......The panels make such a difference.....Great job guys !! You two make an awesome team.
The roof is looking really good. Great job guys. Keep up the good work. Be safe God bless.
I showed this video to my roofer today… I’m even going with the same color. Thank you both for sharing!
That roof looks amazing!! You are turning such a worn out trailer into a lovely home! People should be inspired!
Looks great.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
So you know I came for the knowledge, and I love yalls channel. And I want a metal roof.
Love listening to all the birds in your videos.
Doug and Ashley, the roof is looking good! You never cease to amaze me Doug! You have the best ideas and they work perfectly for you! This is one reason why I LOVE watching your videos! You two do what’s good for you and some of your ideas could be used by other DIYers. Keep up the great work!💕
That is a perfect install of the rib roofing. I also really like the color you chose -- not stark white, but still a cooler color for reflecting the heat. The only thing someone could question is a lack of stitch screws or butyl tape on the seams for the most extreme weather prevention measures, but you also still have the original roof underneath it and with your purlins spaced together as close as they are, it's really doubtful you'll ever have issues. I'm a typical over-killer on things. The roof is looking great! @17:45 That was the perfect Dad joke! Well played! Bravo!
Thanks! Thanks for stopping by again. We're pretty much just going by the instructions and they say butyl tape on the seams is only required for under 3/12 roof pitch.
I may have to remove a roof panel or two when I install the plumbing vents. So it's probably going to work out in my favor to not make this roof too stuck together!
“The Nibbler on The Roof”
😂
I love watching you two working together. Your knowledge on remodeling is wonderful. Id buy anything you built or remodeled you go above what most people do. Keep up the great work!
